Martial arts solved many of the downsides of introversion for me. I used to be so in my own head and on edge in any social or professional environments. Training, focus and having to be present and alert to defend myself really flicked some light switches in my head. One of the best lifestyle choices I've ever made.

Kickboxing has been something that completely reshaped who I am as a person to be honest. I don't think that any words can properly describe the amount of mental peace it has given me, too. Sure, sometimes I get anxious when sparring comes up, but conversely, I also feel a lot less anxious when facing an angry person in a real setting. I also don't feel much of a need to be combative on the street because I fully know what I am capable of and I have nothing to prove to some random loud mouth. It has definitely made me a lot more secure.

I turned 34 in August and I finally decided to learn a martial art. I played high school wrestling through my tenure in high school and while I never had an winning record, but it made me a confident person. Around 2018-mid 2023, I been going through a lot of stuff in my life (poor relationships, death in the family, etc) that made an negative impact in my life, I needed something that will help me physically and mentally. August 2023- My brother purchased the 50th Anniversary Blu-ray of the greatest martial arts movie of all time: Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee (the greatest martial artist of all time and the founder of Jeet Kune Do). We haven’t watched this movie in years and we decided to watch it while eating Chinese food. Then, something popped in my head: I’m watching the scene when Bruce Lee was training the student about Emotional Content and the famous line “Don’t think, Feel!”. I paused myself eating and it hit me that I want to learn martial arts. I’m training in Jeet Kune Do since September at the Chesapeake JKD academy in Virginia and so far I noticed that I’m more relaxed and confident that I ever been in a long time. I can say now that JKD is starting to change my life!

Martial Arts are like skateboarding, or snowboarding. Like You are getting into the backcountry. I think Mr. Rogan could make a podcast with someone like Travis Rice, and someone from BJJ, or Karate, to talk with them about freedom of motion, and the power of free will. Karate because of kata. The way of being out all alone..., like freeride... freeride of the soul
