I wonder why he didn’t correct Douglas when he referred to his having grown up with Italian parents. Raposo was Portuguese and grew up in Fall River, Mass. I was one of a lot of kids who studied classical guitar with his father, who was also named Joseph.

Exactly is what I thought...good picking up on it. Maybe he was too polite to correct him.

Did he ever mention Three's Company? He did their "then-new" theme music in 1977 with Ray Charles (Offenberg) and Julia Rinker.

That "Ray Charles" 'sung by' credit was always a problem. Couldn't Mr. Offenberg have chosen "Slappy White"?

I wonder when and where Joe got influenced by jazz since most of his work on Sesame Street was heavily jazz based.

The story I know is that he worked as the "break" piano player at an old jazz club in Boston called "Storyville." I think it was part of a hotel or something. He was in school (Harvard) and gigged there for extra money.
