I was just going to say that. Not everyone who 'waits' but many, after doing it, you never take service for granted, you totally understand working in a team and no matter where he ends up, you can bet, he'll always 'see' wait staff and other 'invisible' service people who he KNOWS without them, shit wouldn't get done, where other actors might not. It definitely keeps you humble, if you let it 🙂

That's what happens when you have good actors coupled with good writing and good directors. They have to all work together so that we start to root and care for these characters. He went from the typical jerky boyfriend to one of the most beloved characters on the show and it seemed like a natural progression of his character development thanks to the Duffer brothers and Joe's natural charm.

He treats everyone around him the same way he treats Jimmy Fallon in this segment: respectful, enthusiastic, and interested. Honestly, I was just trying to stay out of the way but the whole band made a point to introduce themselves and strike up conversation. I freaking love that he was just working a normal job as a waiter when he auditioned and got the role of Steve. Just makes him that much cooler and more likeable for some reason. Good for him!!! It's because that makes them more relatable therefore more like-able. At one point they were regular Joe's like you and I but one call changed their lives forever. Joe Keery and Gaten Matarrazzo are the heart of the show, hands down. They were smart to keep him.

Something I noticed about you Jimmy. When someone is talking to you, you are so focused on them their words and expressions. You take it all in. You repeat what that say probably so you can genuinely remember what they are telling you. And you do this with everyone you interact with. Hopefully I get a chance to meet you one day Jimmy. Favorite host by far.

He’s so perfect for Steve. I actually love the fact the brothers decided to keep his character alive because it’s so different! Steve is known as the popular douche bag boyfriend but they actually change the narrative and I love that. They showed that there’s so much more to his character and it’s not just the typical “douche bag athletic popular guy” in high school who dies off after season one. I really appreciate them keeping him around because it changes the dynamic! He adds so much value to the cast! His character is needed!! Great actors in their breakout roles (Stranger Things & That 70's Show, aka not overly intellectual but cute, along with being a good friend), fun in interviews, and eerily similar looking, probably because they both have great hair! All comparisons aside, I can't imagine anyone other than Joe Keery playing Steve Harrington. Thank you Duffer brothers for not killing him off in season one.

I literally think that's the plan. They are NEVER going to kill Steve imo. If the spinoffs are major possibilities, which it seems they are from other cast members' interviews that Netflix are interested in, Steve will definitely have a spin-off for sure.

I wasn't really invested in Steve until the awesome shot of him twirling the bat before hitting the Demogorgon in Joyce's house at the end of season 1. That was the exact moment I was like, "Steve's awesome!"😂👍

@@SpiralSkylines I agree with both statements. This is huge, but I think he means that he's going to get more diverse roles to be remembered for than just one show. Not to knock the hugeness of the show, just saying he's going to need to do other things to really be BIG.

When I saw the first episode with him it was like: "A one-dimensional jerky boyfriend who will die the horrible way in the last episode of season 1 - CHECKED". And then suprise :D Great actor and well written character. In fact the whole cast is the best knitted ensemble I've seen on TV lately. No weak links.

steve is my favorite character in the show, was super worried about him in season 4 but thankfully the brothers are aware of how loved he is and didn't kill him

“Aww man the jerky boyfriend” that jerky boyfriend is what made Steve, Steve 😍☺️

i am so proud of Joe, he has come so far!! he was supposed to die in SEASON 1 but he was so good that the duffers just had to keep him! and now he has one of the best character developments in the film industry and THE best character development in stranger things ❤️

Steve has become the best character of them all, his growth and charm since first season to the last one will always amaze me

steve and dustin are the best characters imo. dustin has always been the heart of the group and steve has had such a good character development

I can't imagine the show without Steve. He's one of my favorite actors in Stranger Things.

And it was for the best. Steve has become one of the best characters on the show. The bromance between Steve and Dustin is top notch.

He’s right. He’s a huge huge part of this show!! Can’t imagine it without him.

Finally figured out why I love Steve...past season 1, he is one of the VERY FEW male characters across any form of media who exudes zero toxic masculinity. Love him.

Joe’s hair grows so quickly!! He’s so handsome! So genuine, funny and humble! I love his personality! He just OOZES charisma

i love how he's still got the classic 70s/80s vibe going on with the suit and shirt! So awesome!

As his character grows, i find Steve more and more relatable and lovable...He's actually quite dreamy and a big softy even though he complains that he's always the baby sitter 😄 The way he helps and protects everyone and treats everyone a friend and being understanding it's just amazing!

We all love Steve, he is our boy! One of the best characters in stranger things. He is fearless and always steps up to save the day. Thanks for the entertainment Joe!

The way he instantly makes anyone like him and he's so sweet too. The duffer Brothers did a great job!

what i love about stranger things is that none of the actors were really huge at the time, and thats what makes them so good at it because they are perfect for the roles!

Joe seems to really shine in this interview. He comes across as such a pleasant, easy-going, genuine guy. Steve is definitely the heart of Stranger Things. Also, his music is so good -- I love his album Twenty Twenty. Looking forward to his new album, future projects, and the next season of ST!

He seems to be the same as his character has become. Humble, sweet, lovable. I can’t imagine the show without him. The whole cast is perfect!

I just LOVE the "sound effects" that Joe does in his conversations... 💕🤣 He is a lovely and kind person, Joe (as well as Steve) deserves all the love and recognition he's been receiving. 💕🍻

I don‘t think anyone could have played steve better! Steve is such a complex character in his own way - at first he‘s „just“ the jerky boyfriend but as the story unfolds we see his true personality + the rocky relationship with his father. Glad the duffers kept him

Joe Keery is such a nice, lowkey guy. Gotta love it.

They did an amazing job choosing the cast. It's a huge reason the show is so successful. Joe is great!!!

I really like his character. It's a good fit for his down to Earth personality. At first, he looked so familiar to me, I couldn't believe he hadn't been in anything major before. Then during this interview I realized that he reminds me of a young Brendan Fraser, and that's where the familiarity came from.
