This is so surprisingly amazing and fresh! I loved him in the 80s and 90s too but totally lost track since then. His catalogue still is relevant and vivid and... what a band!

I can, and have, put his album "Big World" in the CD player and simply listened to it from its first note to the last. A bonus are the "transitions" between songs. A track NEVER "ends." One instrument, the bass, the keys, etc. will continue playing its riff from the first song, while every other voice in the composition changes, creating the new piece. Whether you are a fan of J.J. or not, you can not deny the innovations that he has brought to Modern Western Music. 🤔

Big world was not a studio album.. it sounded so clean and clear and dramatic and explosive, melodic, and beautiful. I’ll never forget losing my best friend who literally sang the entire songs together on Big World 🌎.. What a album recorded live in Japan .

I remember buying Big World on vinyl the day it came out, opening it, and seeing it was a double album with only three sides recorded. Cool! Definitely an underrated album and didn’t know about the transitions. For me, Joe’s masterpiece is Body and Soul, start to finish, best sounding album I’ve ever heard

Wow, brilliant to see Joe and his band. He's still got it, not just the voice, key boards skills, and the back catalogue, also some great new music. Now I'm going searching to see if he's likely to be touring down to New Zealand anytime soon - wouldn't that be awesome???

Thank you very much for this upload! Sadly, I did not realize he was touring Germany before it was too late. Followed him since the Night and Day tour in the early 80s but somehow lost track around 2000. Nice to see him still at the top of his game.

Can't be from the phone or whatever was used for the video... So nice to remember how good the live event was, postponed as it was by covid

I loved "Blaze" when it came out in my 30's. I "rediscovered it" a couple of weeks ago over 30 years later. To me its like emotional time lapse film that threads those 2 endpoints - particularly these 2 songs. Now in my 60's, those 2 songs pack more of a punch!

@@jamesrosencrans644 I think it was August 1989, and I heard a brief mention on the radio, "Joe Jackson, Lonestar Roadhouse, Sunday night." No internet at the time, so I called the Lonestar Roadhouse. Yes, he's playing Sunday night, no tickets, get here early. My buddy and I used fake ID to get in, 11-piece band in a small club on 52nd Street. I recall Joe saying it was the first time playing Blaze of Glory before a live audience, and they played the record start-to-finish. I think Gary Burke messed up the drum solo at the start of 19 Forever, Joe made them stop and start over. The place was so small that the band entered through the front door, one-by-one. Graham and Gary came in first and laid down the beat to Can't Get What You Want, then the horns came in, then Joe hit the piano. That show, or the original JJ Band at the Bowery Ballroom on the reunion tour, was my best JJ live show.
