Joe Jackson - Fan questions about "Fool" Part 1

Joe sat down and answered a few of the questions you asked and Cherry Pie Pictures was there to film it. Here's the first part:
"What do you consider the most foolish decision of your career? And was there an album that you felt confident would be well received, but wasn't as successful as you hoped?"

Great interview. His articulation and comprehensive responses are so reminiscent in his music. I love this musical artist. All his music as different as it is from his last and still GREAT. Keep on “Stepping Out” Joe.

"You Can't Get What You Want (Till You Know What You Want)" is a good one too. I especially like "Is She Really Going Out with Him"

I love this man. Been listening to him since 1979 and have everything he’s released and I’ve been to see him more times that I can count. Night and Day is a great album but my favourite (at the moment) is Blaze of Glory. It has everything and is timeless.

Joe is and has always been uniquely he, himself. His music is joyous. The songs are about life. He includes us all in the world we all live in together. To be such a masterful musicianand finding the right ppl for his concert tours us a talent. He has given back more joy and warmth because he is who he is, chosey. And also a mentor to many other musicians as well. ❤❤❤❤

Excellent. The creative process: "fooling" around with musical ideas and over time the album theme comes into focus.

I do love Joe Jackson’s music but why has he shaved his eyebrows off? Also looks as if he’s had plastic surgery. Why? He looked fine

To put it simply: Joe Jackson rightfully declined doing music videos for the reason that the imposed imagery erased the inner personal imagery manifesting in the mind of a listener. I still believe it to be very true. Close your eyes and see the images or sentiments a music piece can produce.

I could tell just by listening to him here that he must’ve spent a long time living in the states - his British accent is weakened and at times here he sounds almost like a native New Yorker. I looked up his bio and it turns out he did in fact live in NY for many years starting from a fairly early age.

That’s a bizarre wish to have as a a fan of artists and art, which I can only assume you are. Covering songs is an age old tradition and once a piece of music is out there in the world, no one owns that work, even if it’s their own, to the point that it’s not open to interpretation by others, which yes, includes bad interpretations. You can dislike versions of his songs others have done, but to wish them the inability to do them is to wish Joe the same inability from doing all the covers he’s done. Now, obviously if you own the rights to a song or don’t anymore and it’s being used in a way that seems wrong or for monetary gain in a manner the original artist doesn’t approve of or something, that’s another matter entirely. I know this was nine months ago, but do you remember which specific renditions of Joe Jackson songs done by others you had in mind?
