This movie's soundtrack alone should have made it worthy enough to win at the Oscars for best animated feature film. The film as a whole truly is a masterpiece. The traditional animation and beautifully orchestrated music show how much heart, passion and dedication was put into this feature film. The Tale of princess Kaguya losing to big hero 6 bothers me so much.

Princess Kaguya is truly the most underappreciated Ghibli movie EVER. Jesus..if I saw the soundtrack performed like this, I would be beside myself sobbing. "Masterpiece" is an understatement. Fun fact: Joe was told to make an "empty" music and he made this. Joe really did a great job in this cuz i felt that After a long journey of music with strong emotions, the music without emotion breaks in just like those spirits that came from the moon without understanding the feelings of kaguya and grandpa and grandma. In what is a rather sad moment in the movie they come down with this beautiful cheerful music take the princess and leave her family devastated, showing no empathy toward Kaguya or her parents and their plight. Great piece of musical subtext.

The procession celestial beings is the metaphor of the death itself, merciless, unavoidable, and no feelings truly matter to the death, we can only hope our loved ones who passed away have gone to a so called “happy, better place”, the music sounds happy, but empty, repeatedly, and in the original soundtrack you can hear the prayer in Sanskrit, according to Buddhism, that’s the ritual we do after someone passed away

At 11:30, Joe was told to make music that was empty. Those spirits from moon does not experience the emotions of joy and sadness like human on earth does and this music really reflect that very well. un altro dei 1000 motivi per cui QUESTO film doveva vincere gli Oscar!

I cant believe this film lost to big hero 6 , i do love that film as well, but the this is a masterpiece, from the animation , to the soundtrack, to the story and the way how the creator chose to tell it. It's a folklore that was justified by this film.

Tudo me tocou.

Capricho , delicadeza , espiritualidade , humanidade ... E ainda perdeu o Oscar. Lamentável
