I couldn't understand English when I first started playing in 2011, but I created my character anyways. Aragon the ginger (tried to write Aragorn but I didn't know how to pronounce his name too), Nord, sword and shield. I played on my father's laptop, and for fear of breaking the right mouse button, I adopted a stronger weapon that I thought would carry me without blocking through the game, a warhammer.. I also didn't know we have to press and hold left mouse button to fully charge an arrow to fire it properly. Saw in some random walkthrough a guy speaking these words: "infinite gold" and "Mount Anthor". Then I went to Mount Anthor to find the gold, found one of my firsts memorable dragon battles, I couldn't fire arrows properly, so we fought through the whole Sunday night. Sleepless, some hours to an exam, and didn't found the gold. But I had such a glow of excitement in my eyes that since that day, all my school friends knew about this amazing experience that is Skyrim. With the passing of the months, this game quickly became my favorite English teacher. Making me genuinely interested in the language, so I could understand the dialogs, books, and quests. Year after year, more and more I could understand this language. So many positive things happened in my life because of it, that is difficult to express in words the appreciation I feel for that. Thank you, Skyrim : ) And for those who stopped by to hear this stranger's confession: Wind Guide You : )

I must disagree, Secunda (which sadly wasn't played) hits more. When I hear it, anytime, anywhere, I almost start to cry. I still remember the moment when I first - at night - came out outside from the Dragon Hall (sorry if the name is wrong, I played different language version) in Whiterun and Secunda was playing and the green aurora was shining on the sky. THAT was the defining Skyrim moment for me. Until then, it was just one from the list of the great RPGs and sequel to Oblivion. But this moment changed it to something more.

Skyrim may not have the best game mechanics. It may not have the biggest map, the best storytelling, the best quest design or the best graphics. I've never felt such a deep connection to a game ever again and it will always be a part of me. Listening to Far Horizons, The Streets of Whiterun or From Past to Present always makes me emotional. When I first played Skyrim my kids were little and used to watch me play all the time (usually only the outdoors exploration parts, I didn't venture into bone and blood strewn dungeons, but I digress). Each time I hear the music it draws me right back like it was yesterday. Many times I would play the Skyrim soundtrack in the car with them, so the music is as instantly recognizable for them as well. And now, many years later, my daughters have laptops of their own and now I am coaching them through their first playthroughs of their own.

Back when my wife and I were planning our wedding, I threw out this crazy idea I had of walking down the aisle to Streets of Whiterun, partially as a joke (but not really.) I back tracked and argued for something more traditional when we were in the final planning phases. Fast forward to the wedding when I am walking down the aisle with the wedding party and wouldn't you know it, Streets of Whiterun was playing. My wife worked it in with the DJ as a secret because she knew how much I like that song. I was reminded yet again, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I was marrying the right one.

HOWEVER, it is incredible and unconscionable that the composer's name is not mentioned either in the video credits at the end or in the video description. @@dartharyeshzilla7909 I think Avarti in some degree actually loves the game (correct me if I am wrong). Since approximately 3/4 of his videos are about The Elder Scrolls and 50% of it is about Skyrim. He wouldn't spent thousands of hours making videos about it, if it wouldn't be big part of his life. Often the biggest fans are the highest critics. I can feel that nowadays, the TES fans are bit frustrated about it that Bethesda hasn't been able to in 10 years publish any new main TES title other than different kind of special/anniversary editions while at the same time other game publishers have managed to publish games like Witcher lll, Dark Souls/Bloodborn etc. That being said. Everyone acknowledges what kind of impact Skyrim have had to the whole RPG genre. E.g. Kingdom Come: Deliverance probably wouldn't exist if Skyrim would not exist first. I personally think that even nowadays the Skyrim can still out shine some of the most modern RPGs in certain areas (Heck... Even the Morrowind can). Specially when it comes to this mystical experience. Traveling in the woods or up at the mountains. The world, backstory and mythology of TES is is excellent (took many decades to build) and Skyrim managed to utilize and improve it very well. Avarti have some good points when it comes to some characters (Delphine...). Lets just hope that the TES VI will fix these issues.

@@GeneralMiller92FIN dude you aren't wrong. There isn't any other type of game like this, it any of the Elder Scrolls really. The feel, the atmosphere, the deep deep lore, the charm, the janky but workable mechanics... Been a fan since Morrowind on my old ass Xbox and Skyrim, though "dumbed down", is my all time favorite game and has never left that number one spot. I even got my mother and 10yr old daughter heavily (and I am not exaggerating lol) into gaming via Skyrim. This Christmas I'm actually getting my daughter her own Switch with Skyrim and a few other games but had to make sure Skyrim was one of them cause she's put over 300 hrs into it on our shared Switch. I know we have at least Outer Worlds from Bioware which is pretty good and definitely inspired by Bethesda's games, but it missed so many marks of furthering such complexity and world building that the immersion is just not there for me though I did enjoy it. Bethesda catches a lot of flack, some deserved for sure, but they are close to impossible to emulate what makes their games so monumental.

Imagine the absolutely disgusting arrogance of Bethesda to capitalize on this truly iconic and breathtaking score by Jeremy Soule while at the same time casting him off to be relegated to the darkness of the forgotten for their newest installment. The fact that Bethesda does not truly understand that Soule's music caries with him the absolute identity of Tamriel, its truest DNA, its very soul and essence, and believes that someone else (likely Inon Zur) will even be able to conjure a minuscule modicum of the nature of Soule's genius is beyond sad, frustrating, and utterly depressing.

Solemnly I wander forward into the misty domain, the icy breeze may take me wherever. But there's a fire inside my heart smoldering like a dragon's breath. For I am, the Dragonborn. My destiny is lain out for me, I will fulfill it eventually. my first playthrough of skyrim during its initial release was eyeopening. I used to volunteer as a Hospital Radio DJ. One day I was invited to attend a music session and play powerful and inspiring music to terminally ill cancer patients. I thought of lots of things I could play but I had to choose to play something that meant something to me. I decided to play them From Past To Present and Far Horizons. I wanted to give them something new, something they could listen to wherever they may be. They might have been stuck in a hospital bed with no way to leave. My thinking was to play them some tracks from Skyrim because it instils that large open world feeling and that is exactly what someone confined to a hospital bed would need. Long story short, I was asked back to play my sessions to more terminally ill cancer patients and every time I change what music I am going to play. It means a lot to me and it is always a pleasure to share Jeremy Soules music to anyone. Now it is very likely that these people have since passed on, but I am privileged to have shared with them this wonderful and life fulfilling music. For a moment, if only but a brief moment in our lives - we are confronted with something that is awe inspiring. This music helps me understand what life is about, you can't quite put words to it, but the feeling and the shivers down your spine is what makes it real.

Love, love, love playing Skyrim, and its music is such an important part of the whole experience. So glad my favorite piece "Unbroken Road" was included in this concert. It makes my heart soar every time I hear it! ❤

I was surprised at how I felt listening to some of these peices again. It might have just been a game but music truly leaves an incredible impression on the soul.

Cannot help but agree. There are some that give me goosebumps, others make me feel righteous and powerful. Then there's "The Streets Of Whiterun" that never seem to stop giving an overwhelming sense of calm to me. My absolute favorite score's for a videogame

It's my first time hearing it with a "live" orchestra. I'm a grown man getting goosebumps and tearing up. I would love to hear this live in person one day.

Skyrim, maybe not the best game gameplay-wise, but for me, the best game atmosphere-wise. Walking around that world, feeling like the dragonborn, listening to this beautiful music, no game has ever come close to that feeling that awakened that fall of 2011. For that, this game has and will forever have, a place in my heart.

You ought to check out Gustav Holst's "The Planets", quite a bit of great French horn goodness in that suite! But yes, Far Horizons makes you feel like the universe itself is telling you that it is aware of your dreams and that you hold some value within it, as if the notes are denoting purpose in your feelings and memories. One of the best songs in the game.
