Skating has always been a dance, well, at least I've always found that style is a huge factor. Ballroom dancing, figure skating, etc can be sometimes too technical and soulless but what stands out is flow and so on. The true dance. Same with breakdancing, there can be a split between just pure power/technique and actual dancing/rythmn. But yeh, agree totally. Alos this sort of production is all about the flow of the skating, the dance, as it were. I dunno, it's kinda funny cos I'd say there's a lot of skaters that would hate the term 'dancer'. Machismo shit I guess. Yet would applaud one another not just for complex tricks but doing them with style! :)

I watched this a couple of years ago and being someone that spent their childhood skating, it had a real impact on me. A loss for what I had with rollerblading and a loss of my youth, the melancholy tone in this vid sent me back into memories and feelings long forgotten. I've come back to this video, a few years later as it's the day before I get back on the blades at 37 years old.

I can't believe how he just flows his style is unbelievable flawless he flows into the next ramp or whatever he is doing pools everything is just natural to him and I find myself amazed and stunned myself I love to blade he has made his rollerblades into a paintbrush in the skate park is his canvas every piece of concrete wood and asphalt is his canvas he is the Picasso of rollerblading

A couple reasons, at least in the US: 1. Got too popular and therefore became a fad 2. It's hard to get good and skate like the pros 3. General decline in overall physical activity due to video games and computers 4. Hate from the skateboarding community 5. Most of the publicity was on aggressive inline, which had an in your face and assertive vibe that alienated certain groups (women/lgbt) That said, I hope inline skating rises back up!

Don't forget, "we" got old, and the next gen in the park don't see it that often (around where I am at least).
It's 1999, I'm in the shed with my grandad melting down candles, wax crayons, oil, dish soap etc trying to make the perfect grind wax recipe.... Lost both eyebrows, don't regret it

Atkinson is weightless, suspended in air, his skating communicates his essence, his vitality, and his emotion. The video puts everything together so beautifully and in such an intimate way. The viewer sees through the eyes of the director and the result is so pure and captivating.
Stunning skating, stunning cinematography, beautiful music. Two people at the top of their craft.
those last 2 tricks are truly things of awe-defining beauty.
I'm making a comeback after decades... This video will certainly be an inspiration.
I love how different this is than most hand held skate videos
There is something special with this video
No vocals is defenetly a plus in my book..!!!..it simply shows the beauty and captures the feeling in the most beautiful and simple way💣❤👌

Yes, thank God it was a vocal free song and didn’t become one of those insufferable IG videos with that lazy female Adele-esque voice with too much reverb.
Godamn. Joe made art in that bowl.
Man I was just watching The Love Scotland Tour Locoskates did in 2011 and you wouldn't even recognise Joe as being the same person now. It's awesome seeing how his passion has kept him rolling. And what better way to show this then to have the VIP treatment with Dom West shooting your shit. Both legends. 👏
"Never try to force anything." Skating is no exception, and this exceptional video demonstrates that truism perfectly. Alan Watts (quoted), like Manly P. Hall, have been a major source of inspiration throughout my life. For me, skating taught me everything I needed to know about being and nothingness before I even understood what those things were. Mastering a pair of skates is one of the true tests in the path of spiritual awakening. It's also one of the freest forms of expression, which is why I miss it so much. Watching these awesome skate videos makes me want to put on my skates and find my inner flow again.

Same here! I used to explain my rollerblading as my emotions. Depending on how I felt on the day defined my skating. I do miss the feeling
Amazing skating, beautifully captured and edited by a master craftsman.
beautiful Australian landscape. Thank you for including this! 3:33
Still one of the most beautiful videos on KZread
One of the future and present legends. Joe and Dom making Rollerblading history capturing the True essence of everything.

Beautiful! I miss the time I used to skate almost every day! I wish I could fix my knees an get on them again. Maybe a robotic knee will do in the future.
That flat to the rock was sick

That was amazing! I lived and skated in Bondi for 20 years. It was quite touching seeing my old hood, thanks 🙏🏾😎
I've watched the blue beach bowl sequence so many times. It's so relaxing. Could easily watch a 1-hour version.
What a masterpiece!
Deep.. aggressive skaters are the rebels the underdogs, the puritans, the lone wolf. Dare devils that do it for themselves. I love that.. yet the sport should get the credit it deserves in my opinion it should be in the Olympics.
That heart❤️ bowl looked sick. This edit is stunning
A PEACE OF ART!
Love the fact Cesar Mora is just sat on top of the bowl chilling, watching Joe rip.
5:20 OMFG😍😭
No protection at all...supreme confidence!
Man has realized his dream of flight.
Amazing cinematography. Joe's skating was on point. Will be purchasing this in future.
Masterfully crafted.
This was the most beautifully filmed and edited skate vids I have seen! Really stunning. The skating, the MUSIC and that composition! Thank you!
This is still the best skate edit ever made. Just bummed it's not the full version. When this came out for purchase, that version had a whole other section with him skating a spider web bowl and this badass park with multiple spines in a row.
Holy... I don't think people know exactly, just HOW hard that trick starting at 7:28 is. I know certain people find blading to be "easy", but on no planet is this remotely easy.
the shots from above r so aesthetically pleasing
brutally gorgeous
I like the Alan watts commentary at the end
how tf did he downhill skate on AGGRESSIVE FRAMES??? AND THEYRE FLAT TOO?????????? absolutely awe-inspiring
Просто прекрасно! Это искусство, катание и съемка на высоте!
Fantastic vid, that flow is too hot
Like a boss with this film! two masters at their crafts making magic for the masses! beautiful
Magic Joe... fantastic video 💙 Only love 🇮🇹
Great little film. It made me feel very nostalgic about the late '90s when I was obsessed with aggressive inline skating.
One word, beautiful!
Old School style with a New School flare. Nice Joe. Loved it Dom. From an old school rat.

Tears of joy. Brilliant.
What an incredible piece of work. How have I not seen this before. Fantastic.
This was just a great experience to watch. Thank you to everyone that made it possible!
What a beautiful landscape where this guy skates at really gave me chills watching this video.
This is such a beautiful film, thank you for putting this out there :-)
This is true art.
Pool to the rock! EPIC!
Watching this is so inspiring. I love the freedom of skating and this video depicts that ultimate freedom. Beautiful skating.
Well this just became my new favorite skate edit. Top notch from front to back. 😎🤙
It was genuinely beautiful and so peaceful. Joe is just untouchable, his skating is out of this world.
I keep trying to tell my friend that you can’t force time & to let things spontaneously happen, but she just doesn’t get it. She needs to watch this a million times!
8:45 , wow. the skill for that.Incredible the whole thing ... amazing editing
Excellent Cinematography and Skating is A1
JOE JOE JOE JOE 🤘😎🤙
Nice video, bad ass skater.
You just flo ....so fluid.....🤩
This is making me sad, I wish id never stopped skating. Such a beautiful and graceful sport
this is incredible. as someone still in love with this sport and doing it for love since 95.... thank you for your work! I have only watched a few of your vidoes so far.... but they are wonderful. I think that this is a brilliant way of rebranding the sport from "aggressive". As i have aged... my dreams (literally) often involve skating, but it is always about fluidity and freedom in those dreams. Please keep on your path.
Wow! Beauty video! Good feeling!
Clean mean soul grinding machine
beautiful piece of mind
awesome and amazing and inspiring. I could watch this vid 50 times never gets old. that sense of flying from 1 bowl to another, very well done vid. thank you!!!!
Magnificent!
GREAT VIDEO You reignited that burning desire I need to go out and skate today
Ok people the flat spin in to the rock that was a really good stuff like art
That was some of the smoothest skating, really enjoyed it.
Absolutely beautiful...
Beautiful! Getting back into skating at 40, uh oh! And was thinking I'd like to get more into bowl skating (there's one near where I live). When I was skating a lot, 23 years ago, Dublin (Ireland) had barely any skateparks. Also they kept being shut down because parents would sue them, 'sigh'. Even though they would drop their kids there. But one broken bone and sue, sue, sue. But now, public parks in Dublin have a fair few small but decent enough parks. Ha, those times you think: "Damn, if only that was around when I was a kid!". But fuck it, I figure if I pretend I'm not 40 all should be good....cut to me in a wheelchair, lol! But yeh, this is beautiful and inspiring! Kudos to the skater and film! :)
Absolutely stunning visual work, West.
