Unfortunately, Joe never loved Love. He loved the version of her that she initially presented. When he realized she was crazy like him, he lost interest. I feel bad for Love. She genuinely loved him. She was constantly begging him for his heart . She knew him well enough to know he was picturing someone else when he was fucking Sherri. He was already interested in someone else from the first episode. It was only a matter of time before he found interest in another woman. He gaslit her and made her feel like he was all in.

Very valid, I think it can also be argued that Joe can never truly love someone because when he obsesses over someone they become a part of his perfect fantasy. And he'll always choose fantasy over reality, the truth is he actually could have it all with probably anyone not just Love; but he simply can't because of his narcissism.

joe will never find someone as good for him as love was. they were both insanely perfect together, but joe always prefered someone that he could see as “perfect” and he couldn’t do that with love.

no! not at all! Love was too impulsive for Joe. The whole of season 3 was spent by Joe trying to cover Love's killings! Even in this scene! She stupidly blurts out that she killed natalie! Love is hopeless! I think it was very telling that she killed her first husband. It shows she's very unstable and Joe will always have to watch his back while being married to her! In case she murders him in a fit of rage lol

What’s poetic about them is that Joe fell in love with her persona, not for her real self and Love fell in love with Joe’s real self, not for his L.A. persona

Exactly my thoughts! She knew what he is and actually accepted him especially his dark side, she didn't hate Joe for what he trully is, but Joe, huh, he confessed to the shrink that he’s afraid of people leaving him after finding out the truth about him, though Love didn’t, he still wants another girl, it just makes me feel so sick, because for a moment he actually had the chance to accept himself, but he just gotta create another perfect image for another women, it’s clear that he loves himself only, he was just kept on finding excuses for his sick, twisted mind, he just wants to be “mr. perfect”, with someone who thought the same, yet his excuses are “love”. But how ironic, Joe kills his “love” eventually.

I completely disagree. they are both bad, and it was both of their faults that led to this failed marriage. Love cause nearly all the problems this season with her impulsive and emotionally violent acts - worst in my opinion was when she screamed that she had murdered someone out loud, locked shary and Cary in a cage and through all of that thought it’d be a good idea to try for a new baby💀😭. And of course, the death of Natalie and Theos fatal situation Not to mention, imagine having to live with the fact that ur wife is growing a toxic plant that stops the heart with the intention to kill you at any given time😭.

And, well, if we have to put it that way, Joe wanted to kill Love when he found out she’s a psychopath just like him, only keep her alive for the baby. To Love, who knew Joe would definitely kill for his every “true love”, it’s normal she would plant wolfsbane and kept the poison, though Love knew it, she couldn’t face the truth, she would only cover them and pretend nothing’s wrong- thought that would make her happy while Joe finds himself more excuses and crushes to run away from Love. If Love is the narrator, the protagonist, we would see how she’s in love with Joe and try to be a mom while Joe’s busying stalking another women and kept their belongings and lie and cheated her over and over again. He looked at her as she’s some kind of monster that he wasn’t. That’s what I hate him for.

@@ellie3712 so true. I think people only see love as the problem because, of course, it’s Joe’s POV. And let’s be honest is he really a trusted narrator anyway? Him and love are both terrible people, but love loved him but he didn’t love her, so if we see it from her POV then how hurtful must it be to care for someone who is just hiding other girls stuff in a secret box, totally not invested in the relationship at all.

I’m surprised people are not understanding why they couldn’t work out . Think of Ron and sam from jersey shore , sure they were perfect for each other “in the most toxic sense “ but they brought out the absolute WORST in each other . They were TOO alike to ever last , Joe is disgusted by his dark side that murders people so of course he could never love the mirror reflection of himself . Joe wants to be with someone that makes him a “better “ person . Love is completely different , she doesn’t want to be with someone who makes her a better person she wants someone to unconditionally love her including the dark ugly side of her that kills . She’s turned on by violence as shown in season 2 when she was flattered that joe kept used tampons of her . Now don’t get me wrong neither of one of them deserves a happy ending they’ve both killed and ruined countless lives for their own selfish gain. But they were indeed NOT perfect for each other . Would y’all think a devil dating a demon would ever work out in a healthy way ? They were destined to fail . Also quit believing that joe loves Marianne, it’s been made very clear he doesn’t and CAN’T truly love anyone . Look how easily he discarded Beck and Love (the woman he loved at one point and mother of his child .)

I can't believe they killed Love! She carried this season on her back! Victoria did an AMAZING job with this character

I finally understand Joe. Joe is someone who was physically and mentally abused by his father. His mother failed to protect Joe by not having the courage to leave her husband and neglecting Joe at times, for sex. The biggest betrayal of Joe is what his mother did to him. His mother did not have the courage to leave her husband. So she manipulated Joe telling him the really horrible things he has done, and planted the thoughts of killing her husband into Joes mind. Then she put a loaded gun in the closet same as Joe. Saying how she was going to kill her husband, knowing that her son either displayed behavior issues early on or knew that he his male instinct would kick in and use the gun to protect his mother. Joe used the gun planted by his mother and killed his father trying to protect his mother. His mother knew that a child killing his father while the mother was being abused would not result in prison time. His mother feeling guilty for what she did to her son, put her son in foster care. Joes mother didnt love JOe.. because she didnt love herself. And didnt have the courage to leave an abusive relationship. Joes betrayal is not only the abandonment of his mother, but also how she used him to get herself out of a bad relationship. And that is what is Joes source of pain. Joe unable to fully accept how his mother used him and abandoned him, is projecting his childhood trauma unto the women and men he comes into contact. He is trying to find closure and healing in these women. Because he is desperately trying to recreate the love , trust, and good role model of a woman. And the love and protection from his father. In Joes mind, every person Joe has ever loved has betrayed him. His mother, his father, and the psycho librarian that kept him in a cage and abused him. With that kind of psycopathy, Joe could never love LOve. He is a narcisstic psycopath.. Joe is trying to find his idea of the perfect woman. He stalks women because as a child that what he did. Was watch his mom and how she interacted with his father and other people. At first Joe viewed his mother as the victim, that was helpless and needed saving. He can not accept that his mother used him and betrayed him. And he wont allow himseld to be hurt , feel angry, rage towards what his parents did to him. It is too much to bear. So he tries to find his idea of perfect home, perfect love, to recreate the love, and womanhood he missed out. He thinks that is through them that he will be a better person. Once they betray him, or finds out they are not as perfect as he thought. He kills them.

Your explanation actually helps me realize the dynamic between my ex and his childhood wounds. There was no killing or anything. But his dad left and his mom raged on him as a child, and forced him to intervene when his dad was beating up his mom. He was the love of my life and I hate how she’s ruined him, he can never have healthy relationships as an adult now.

Ugh yes me too! I got so frustrated with Joe. Season 3 would have been even better if Joe was jealous and killed guys for speaking to Love just like how Love felt about Joe and Natalie. It would have made season 3 even more interesting

Their first and last meal which Love cooked for them was Roast Chicken. Back in Season 2, Love cooked a Roast Chicken for Joe when they were falling in love, and as they fell out of Love, the cyclical structure ends their relationship with a Roast Chicken.

@@Jackn17_ no not just that. He could read her and she could read him. That’s how this whole scene evolved. He knew when she was cheating and she knew when he was. They were literal exact replicas of each other and that’s what made them so dangerous. They brought out the worst in each other but through that they were the most connected. The only problem was that joe didn’t want someone like him, that’s why he didn’t want henry to go into the system and suffer what he had to. I think joe actually hates himself but thinks that if he finds someone who is normal and “perfect” or someone who isn’t messed up like him that he can finally love himself and live happily. Like marienne, she grew up in the system and she is perfect to joe even though they were both abandoned and left in the system, she wasn’t messed up like him. In fact, she was everything he wanted. So joe and love were perfect because they reflected each other but joe was chasing something else. I also took note that in love’s death scene, joe and her are holding hands. I think that really shows the love he has for her and how she loves him even though she was gonna kill him.

I'm going to miss Victoria Pedretti in YOU so much, I've loved every single thing about her acting, so talented and beautiful

I really enjoy Love in the show better than the book. I knew she going to die but how it happen in the show made me cry. All Love wanted in her life was for a man who loves her the way she loves him. Joe will never find a woman who will accept him fully the way Love does. I also hope that Love will haunt Joe for the rest of his life. That she will always be in his subconscious.

Love was the best thing of S3. The key for the show not to become boring

5:30 is what I love most about Joe’s character, he’s so good at covering all his bases the writers didn’t even need to add in these scenes to explain just how good was he was at keeping an eye on love while stalking and killing and dumping bodies, to always look at for himself - that instinct is the scariest part of him as a character

Loved The Season, But the show would be missing a large part in it without Love.❤ She was a really great character in it. The Way Victoria pictured her was just so Impeccable. I really hated when she was killed by joe. Hoping to see her in You Season 4

Victoria Pedretti is fucking out of this world! She should be in line to get an academy award at some point

That last look she fixes on him is so perfect. Victoria Perdretti can do so much with only the movement of her eyes and face.

Absolutely loved it .but I think the series should end now..as much as I'm glad Joe was the one who survived in the end but my heart is broken after Love's death..she was the perfect partner for Joe..not sure what the series has to offer more after her death. If it's more stalking women like Candice and Beck and murder then I'm out..the writers have to come up with something truly amazing to beat the shit that has happened so far

It was played so amazingly. Kudos to the actress . Loved her acting and expressions.

Man what a shame, they were perfect for each other. I loved when we're first introduced to Love in S2 and she's a carefree person taking Joe on a food run around LA. So its such a huge bummer that Joe spends all of S3 hating her and plotting to separate from her. I miss that spark they had when they we're madly in love with each other

Penn and Victoria are the moment.

I wish they had Victoria freeze her face like that (when she was crying) instead of relaxing it later. When Joe is setting up the crime scene she just has a normal sleep-like expression

Joe may never find someone who would understand him as love did. Love was probably the only the person who saw him as monster and still loved him as the person she met

I think the reason why Joe felt out of love with Love was because she was just like him and reminded him of his trauma and why he started to kill and he wanted someone who reminded him of Nurse Fiona and he found that In Marienne

Love deserve better. She was the main character for me

I love this Series I hate that joe tries making it seem like Love is worse than he is he’s just met someone willing to go to the same lengths he is to be happy I actually think they could’ve made a beautiful couple had he gave them a real chance but he will never get the happiness he’s looking for

Honestly, I think Love's greatest error was her self righteousness and stubbornness to the image of a family dynamic. Forty was her soulmate and Theo was like the reincarnation of him. Love should have tried to be with him instead. Joe loved Marianne. While Joe was following his heart, Love wanted to stick to a family dynamic just because it made logical sense to her. I don't think they loved each other at all. It was pure enablement.

Joe didn't love Marienne. He did love Love. Problem was she was getting worse than him in some aspects. That's what turned him off to her. I miss her already.

After watching s4, I honestly don't know how I feel about it anymore. I don't know if he loved Marienne, but I'm also not sure if he didn't love Love. But I do know that Love wanted to be with someone else. That's why she tried to murder him. Like Joe, Love is an obsessive and she can't move on until that person is dead.

They are so perfect!!!

Love was the perfect person for Joe. She accept him for who he was and he couldn’t do the same for her. Even though he was just as bad. He couldn’t be with someone who reminded him of himself and Love genuinely loved him. You are what you attract I guess

I wanted them to work so much atleast for another season. Like think of the teamwork. someone that fully understands you and has seen some of your darkest moments, they couldve learned a lot from each other and improved/ adapted themselves they were never gonna fully change who they were

Love Quinn is the best character in the whole series period. They were perfect for each other she accepted him for whom he really is but he couldn’t do the same because Joe hates himself. Love really tried everything to keep them together and it’s extremely sad how things ended up but I really really hope that she somehow comes back in Season 5 maybe with scarred face from the fire or something like that, it would be amazing. I love both actors really but Victoria stole my heart definitely, she is an outstanding actress!

I really liked their relationship. I was rooting for them.

i fell in love with victoria pedretti aka love this season and so i went to go and watch her other movies and tv shows

So joe just “acted” paralyzed for the neighbor and just layed on the floor when his new lover was almost killed by love right infront of him! Like WTF I wish they would have played it out instead of giving joe the upper hand right away it made the episode weird for me personally

Victoria, please stop dying in everything you're in. I just want to see you get a Happily Ever After once.

My favourite scene from the whole show was actually the very last sequence of season 2. He moved in with his wife who seems to be really crazy and fitting for him and everything seemes to be perfect and then - he sees 'You' - another 'you'. This shows that Joe's motivation is not love, he's doing this things because he is mentally ill and just loves the chase and no matter how fitting one will seem, he will find a new 'love'. It's like Dexter when he realizes that he kills the bad guys not because it has to be done but because he has the urge to kill. That's why it is a weird thing to say 'they are ment for each other'. Both of them are severely mentally ill and not capaballe of handling any relationship. I love these show and all these dramas but all those love stories that are told on TV romanticize unhealty codependet relationships and I just hope that people get this.

the actor, penn badgley, keeps saying how he was nervous that people would take this show the wrong way and romanticize bad things like that. sadly even without this show there were always people who romanticized literal killers in real life anyway.

Season 4: Dexter finds out Joe is a murderer and kills him. The end.

People who dislike the video are probably joe and Love's annoying neighbours

it makes me so sad that it seems like nobody remembered or thought of how love felt after losing a brother she cared so deeply about. I could only imagine the switch that was flipped in her head.

Joe fumbled the bag here fr she knew who he was fully and still accepted him. At the end of the day they’re toxic Joe chases ideals Love wants someone like her. They could never work.
