Doctor Who was getting a little repetitive, so departing from a male Doctor will shake up the show and make things interesting again, regenerate the show even. I can't wait for Jodie! Every new Doctor will be the death of the show according to the naysayers.

I love that they keep it spoiler free. Perfect trailer and panel.

Agreed. He's been a white male 13 times in a row for 2000+ years. Bit of a stretch to think The Doctor is a woman now just by chance. Especially when all these legends throughout space and time have always referred to The Doctor as a 'he'. Still think Jodie will be great though :D

I'm excited for Jodie's first full episode because something that Doctor Who does well in regards to the initial post-regeneration story is that there is still something of a hangover in terms of personality from the previous Doctor. It's a small tidbit that ultimately won't matter in the long run, but it's always been an entertaining aspect of the show and provides a subtle continuity. Seeing 10 carry some of 9's personality in his first ep, 11 with some of 10's personality, and 12 with 11's is always just so entertaining to see and fascinating in how they eventually develop into their own new personality. I can't wait to see how 12's Scottish rebel punk attitude transforms into whatever new personality 13's is going to be.

Doctor Who is an ever-changing show; that's why I'm confused why so called "fans" of the show are mad when changes like these happen. The show shouldn't be criticized for its change in style and details - like how the Doctor is now female, and more than one companions; although that doesn't mean it shouldn't be criticized for its writing - which we still have yet to see (I'm quite hoping it's good). Bussiness-wise, it's a clever move for BBC to keep the name, keep the concept and formula - a wary space and time traveler named The Doctor with his/her companion(s) travelling in his/her blue box, and just keeping it fresh and new.

That's perfectly true, although the change of pace the show takes throughout the 60s seems more organic than the sudden shift in tone and format from Season 7.

Thing is Bradley is not an unknown like Gill and Cole. He is a well established star and in the UK at least, he is more of a household name than Jodie. Probably busy with lost of other stuff!

Some of you on this thread need to grow up & get lives. Before you crap on the show & Ms Whittaker directly, watch a couple of the episodes this coming season. Maybe you are right, but, then again....maybe you're wrong. You cannot critique the finished product until there is actually a product to critique. Time will tell.

Although I'm those people who plays it safe, take my doubts and the fact that I'm actually excited and pumped for the fresh changes BBC decided to bring to the show - Female Doctor, Three companions, change of logo, theme and style - and say screw it, I'm gonna wait till I watch the first episode before I make a proper opinion on it.

I'm so glad they're going back to stand alone episodes after the mess of continuity that was present in Moffatts final season.

Can you sit your guests so they can see each other? This is uncomfortable viewing.

Too much is made of spoilers these days. What's wrong with knowing what the upcoming episodes are about. That's the best way to entice people to watch. It's not like ther'e going to give the ending away or anything like that. In the old days we looked forward to finding out what was in store.We always knew when the Daleks or Cybermen were going to be in it. They were always in the title for goodness' sake.People need to lighten up more these days.

Why isn't Bradley Walsh there?

Bring Eleanor Tomlinson as a TARDIS companion on next year specials with Jodie and her companions until Mandip and John goes and then 13th Doctor regenerates into a 14th Doctor and make Jodie participate Big Finish radio spin-offs as 13th Doctor than going back to future episodes.

No barrier to entry? Sold.

3 companions. ummmmmmmmmm interesting.

I'm afraid I'm very underwhelmed by the new cast. I hope they come across better in the actual programme. But then I didn't like Matt Smith when I first saw him and he turned out to be the best Doctor of the modern series, so we'll wait and see.

I hope they keep her for at least 3 series 😍 She's definitely my favourite of all actors who played the Doctor. I hope Chris gives her good stories. I loved Capaldi too, the rest I didn't care about that much. I'd love a companion like Donna again. Donna and Nardole 🤣

I feel like she is implying that the past ten series were NOT " for everyone " when she says NOW it is for everyone. I can't stand that advert because it insults the other seasons. She seems great here. Why do they keep playing the commercials that make her seem like she is negative about past seasons.

Just curious but did all you nay saying, box ticking negative nellies remember to tick the box last series for black lesbian companion? Or was that too much of a caricature to count against the perceived feminist and minority inclusion agenda of the next series. Or was it ignored because the Doctor was still a dude and companion identity didn't matter? Or was Bill safe because she would not get the hots for the Doctor? Or maybe something else? I wonder how many people will misunderstand what I am saying in this post.

Why should being different races bring a particular dynamic? They're all British culturally aren't they? Surely its difference in worldview or opinion that brings a unique dynamic to the group not racial differences. Unless the show makers think that blacks will likely think X, all Asians think likley Y and all Whites think Z. what ever happened to measuring someone by the content of their character?

He said it's "pretty bypassed" not completely. There's a difference. She probably just freaks out a lot in a good way and then stops caring. That's what I wanted. And I want it to come back up. They mean the revival show rather, it's always been only 1 companion at least long runn companion (I don't count Mickey or Jack in S1or 2 for example) because now they all stay through the whole season and even beyond

+Michel Welling It's fair not to count Mickey and Jack as they weren't constant companions, same goes for River, but you forgot Rory (S6 + S7 Part 1) and Nardole (S10). Both of those count as regular companions so for the most part it's only been a single companion but definitely not always.

Yeah 3 series on and this show thanks to these happy people have sent it to hell. just over 3 million (and that includes iplayer) viewers for the bland and boring Legend Of The Sea Devils. An awful Doctor (Jodie is now the worst ever Doctor), broke canon, bad stories and fans leaving in millions (Remember when Jodie's first episode got over 10 Million) thanks Chibnall you have F@cked up the show in 3 easy series.

In my entire life I've saw maybe 15 episodes of Doctor Who, 10 with 9th Doctor, Christmas Special form last year and maybe a few random episodes form another seasons. I've allways like it, but I've never fell hard into Doctor fandom. I hope 13th Doctor will help me :DDDDD

Do yourself a favor and don't. Watch the original, real Doctor Who series. If you can't get past the slower pacing of the black and white serials, start with Spearhead from Space or Robot. Don't even bother with the 2005-current reboot unless you're more interested in a soap opera than actual science fiction.

Looking forward to Jodie's debut and new series....they usually bugger about with the opening music and title sequences every season. Can we have the deep base eerie rolling dum-de-dum back again please? Not the tinny crap they play at the moment which sounds like something a load of GCSE music technology students have handed in as project work. And the time tunnel? Rather than the cartoon sequences? Rant over.

The question is not the doctor being a woman but will the next one be a man again?

I hate her accent. I'm northern but i feel like it doesn't suit the doctor :( looking forward to see how it plays out though.

Everything since the Doctor returned in 2005 has been opened to be influenced by today’s agendas. That is why Captain Jack is a homosexual. This tries to promote an LGBTQ agenda. I have not been happy with a good many of the newer Doctor Who episodes because of that.
