It was interesting watching Theo in this interview. A little awkward. Typically I could imagine Jocko goofing on a guy like him, could definitely feel that undercurrent, but he really got a lot out of Theo. A lot Theo bearing his soul and a lot of uncomfortable truths without the humor. Pretty cool.

I def agree. He plays up the small town uneducated persona, but I’ve always been able to tell that he’s very intelligent. He’s just got a funny personality that he can convey complex humor in an every day normal hilarious dude way. But he’s definitely not a dummy. I’d go as far to say that he’s on another level of intellect to be able to explain anything in a simple way which makes it hilarious.

The fact that jocko laughed that off instead of making it uncomfortable shows how much jocko likes Theo, he brought him on knowing fully well that Theo would make an outrageous joke like that. It’s kinda like Theo’s way of testing if someone is trustworthy. Watch Theo’s podcast where he had jocko on and it was totally different, jocko busts his balls a little at first until he gauges Theo’s style. Knowing Theo a lot better in this interview, Jocko is aware that if he just takes a step back and gives Theo a platform. This shows how much humility Jocko has and how he can build someone up given that Theo has struggled with figuring himself out in the past.

Theo telling Echo he can watch the show back at home had me in pieces, what a treasure this man is.

Jocko's first interview with theo was something special. For the first 20 minutes or so, Jocko seemed really standoffish, unnerved, almost like he wasn't sure if Theo was making fun of him in a way he didn't quite understand. And then, a switch flips and he sees Theo for what he really is. Just a regular dude trying to make sense of the world through laughter. We need more of it.

Theo's self-awareness is a superpower that transcends towards everyone around him.

This is the least Jocko episode of Jocko, and I love it.

The more I hear Theo talk about his mental struggles, the more I see myself in him. I can relate to feeling self conscious of having an older father and a dysfunctional family that’s very different from my peers’s family. I understand that unwelcomed feeling and never feeling like I’m enough no matter how much others reassure me I’m good. His vids on his YT channel has been therapeutic as I struggle to overcome the traumas of my past alongside Theo.

I love this. Seeing a friendship between Jocko and Theo is a treasure.

My Dad wasn’t quite as old as Theo’s but he was in that kind of age range. It’s actually very comforting to hear someone else talk about it, because it’s a pretty rare situation, but it has such an enormous impact on growing up and your outlook on life.

You can see Echo has a big sense of humor from when Jocko pokes at him on the clips. To see him cracking up then Jocko cracking up in a podcast this serious... proof Theo's comedy is on some guerrilla warfare humor level. Straight creepin, coming in from all sides. You don't see it coming until it's too late and you're blowing leche out your dome. Just a couple mentals blowing leche out their nose bruh, that's when you know you might be gifted with something. 10 minutes in and I’m already in awe of Theos wit and humor.

Never heard of von until this interview but he definitely earned a new subscriber. The raw honesty and humor made for a great listen.

Big fan of Theo's but also of this podcast. When Theo said last week he was going to be on Jocko I was excited but honestly pretty nervous about this would play out. Absolute left turn for the typical content of this podcast. But damn Theo killed it. He's even more hilarious in the format of this show and had a lot of good shit to say. Guy is a legend and one of the greatest comics ever. Also, not going to spoil it for anyone reading comments but that CGI joke was gold. Haven't laughed this hard in awhile.

Love you Jocko for doing what you are doing. I am a bio-mechanical engineer working 14-16 hour days most days lately (weekends included). It has been tough because I have a wife that does not get to see me much. I love what I do, but the stress has been hard to manage at times. Often, I will put your podcast on when I am working late (because everyone else has left and I can play it out loud). This is one of the few podcasts that makes me snap out of feeling sorry for myself. I greatly appreciate it and hope that you and Echo realize there are people that get a lot out of this. There are few sources of inspiration that I fear losing and your podcast is one of them. Also, just had my team read Extreme Ownership and it was a great motivator and bonding experience. So great how you touched on so many soft skills that are necessary for performing in any industry. Appreciate you brother.

I have a very addictive personality and I’ve always called myself “a creature of habit” I guess in a subconscious effort to avoid really dealing with it and what Theo said about “u can’t think ur way into right action but u can act ur way into right thinking” really struck a chord with me.

I could listen to these two all day. How genuine and straight forward Theo is combined with Jocko’s assertive personality is very entertaining to listen to (to me at least)

Jocko is an amazing leader and this episode proves that. Nails it. Echo's gotta breathe from time to time as a sign of life (I was getting real worried about him). Never thought Jocko would get along with a guy as different as Theo. One of the best episodes ever.

Its like ricky bobby telling kyle to lock that pain deep down and never let it out again.

I think this was healing for all three of these gentlemen. They talked, laughed, and experienced growth. Jocko constantly lives through war, echo is by his side and they both laughed and were able to escape some of the war. Theo was able to be a mentee and wasn't someone who had to lead his jokes or the topic of the conversation. All three of these gentlemen are beautiful in all of their own right

I've watched many of Jocko's podcast and I think this is the first time I've heard Echo speak. I like it

So good to see Jocko laughed almost the entire time 🤣

@615kane Bill obviously had no desire to be on Theo's podcast in the first place aside from promoting whatever it was he was promoting at the time. Theo also vibed surprisingly well with Jordan Peterson, another guy Theo wouldn't seem to have much in common with on the surface.

Theo’s mind is an incredibly unique tour guide that sometimes takes you down unfamiliar and often uncomfortable paths. Bringing him to this rather structured and serious podcast and letting him do his thing and just going with the flow… man, this was a great episode.

Theos smooth authenticity and humor is one of a kind. Really.

I love listening to Theo. Bad start at life, but turned out so very eloquent and sharp.
