Think it was really the only way to do it. Considering he left the show himself because he wanted to focus on other things. They had to make up something so they went back to Izzie and the whole when she wanted kids situation. I hate the way he left.. and it’s true if he came back he wouldn’t of been able to leave. But it’s Alex, he loves kids and always wanted to be a family and he stepped right into one he never knew he had. It wouldn’t be Alex if he left his own kids considering how he grew up and wouldn’t want to do that to his own kids.

I‘m just going to pretend like this didn‘t happen. It‘s honestly the most unrealistic thing that happend in Grey‘s Anatomy and my Jolex heart hurts so much..

same!! I am ignoring all of this because it would never have happened if Justin didn't need to leave.. the writers just scrambled to make a storyline and this was the best they could come up with!!!! Alex loved and loves jo with all of his heart and this write off was so poor it completely destroyed any character development he had made since season one which really annoys me but.... 😭😭

It's not so much *what* happened (well, that too) but *how* it was presented. All those episodes where Alex was AWOL, they could have started building the storyline of his exit. Instead, we get a single-episode story which is the laziest piece of writing ever produced on primetime TV. It's like something written on a napkin, during some writer's 20-minute taxi ride home. ONE lame-ass letter, full of telling-not-showing, REPEATED three times with only slightly different phrasing just to fill the screen-time, which of course wasn't nearly reached just with the three iterations of the letter, so they went "whatevs, just fill the rest with flashbacks".

when she said " i cant breath" it gave me lexie vibes when her and mark broke up and this feels like slexie all over again but in a version where they both do not die.

Like they killed lexxie n mark for no reason at all(i mean both of them could just have left Seattle n live somewhere else together) but couldnt kill alex even tho everyone would have preferred him dead.

I am going to pretend that he died, because Alex would never do this. He had the best character development ever and within a second that development got destroyed. The guy that was willing to go to prison for her would just ditch her that is sooo unbelievable 😭

This is so heartbreaking. This was a total character assasination of Alex. He was so in love with Jo since s9. He even told Arizona that he was in love with an intern.This hurts so much. I know that Jolex couldn't be endgame due to Justin leaving, but they should have killed him off instead, and made Jo pregnant with his baby. Jolex was suposed to be it. Him still being in love with Izzie makes zero sense. This was ooc behavior of Alex. he would never do that to someone he claimed to love. Please make more Jolex videos.

this is literally the most out of character thing that Alex has done. grey’s anatomy writers must be getting amnesia because Alex was literally willing to risk his life and his livelihood for Jo and to just up and leave her knowing that it would hurt her the way her mom hurt her or his dad hurt him by leaving. Alex is not in love with Izzie we all know he wouldn’t have left if it weren’t for the kids and they have ruined Alex for me and just have marked the episode as the worst write-off of a character!

I'm getting so annoyed that people think killing off Derek was WORSE than what they did here with Alex/Jo and this is a great way to paint it and try to get some of them to see our point of view - what if they'd had Derek disappear with no goodbye on Meredith and just ghost his wife after everything because of noble obligations of some kind... the comparison falls apart and is hard to fully make because Derek already had kids with Meredith and it isn't that likely that he would've donated sperm to someone or somewhere leading to how he'd then suddenly have kids elsewhere to raise, if you could imagine him and Meredith never having kids though... idk. basically Derek's death, none of the other deaths, were worse writing than this. We're talking about the difference between horrible characterization and misunderstanding of the fundamental nature of who your character is and what choices they would likely make, compared with annoying plot points around a character's life without all the character assassination. I hated how they killed off Mark Sloan in large part because he was alive and fine at the end of a season finale and then the season resumes and he's in a hospital bed in a coma or something worse than that idk, never to be shown awake and conscious again, where it feels like a weird part of the storyline was skipped... and it would've been better to either make it clear his health was in danger in the season finale, or show the experience of the shock of him not being fine as it all started in the aftermath, instead of just skipping to him essentially being brain dead. But while it was kinda pretty bad writing, it was not nearly as big a betrayal of the character as what this choice of Alex's was.

In fact the actor who played Karev said that he didn't want to play more than 350 episodes and here we are but I find the end is horrible ,they could do better because he doesn't say goodbye to Joe,to Meredith... I wanted to see him a last time. That's Meredith and Karev !

It is "used" and you don't need to add the honestly (it has the opposite effect and makes you sound more insincere).

Alex:”I’m not going anywhere” ... Jo:”He left me... and I can’t breathe.” That part really really hit me hard’

Over the last week I've read a lot of comments where people believe that this ending for Alex makes sense. That he and Izzie were always the end game and I would agree with this ending if he had been married to anyone EXCEPT Jo!! The fact of the matter is that, REALISTICALLY, he would NEVER have done this to Jo! Not with who Jo's character is and who they were as a couple; all of the history between them and everything they overcame. This ending just doesn't fit with his character as long as he's attached to Jo!

i hate alex. his character development during the show was amazing he loved jo. she had suffered so much from abuse and loss and alex was the only one who could understand her, they had a whole future waiting for them he was someone jo finally felt safe with. she has gone through so much pain in the past and now alex leaves her for izzie. my heart aches for jo i could never imagine loving someone so much for the first time in your life, loving someone so much that your world feels incomplete without them. i just wish jo could be happy for once😩

Everyone keeps saying “Alex Karev would never” but I think he would but in a different way. I think he would tell jo, and only jo in person, and he would tell her I still love you but I love my kids and I have to go to them. Then he would say you can come with me or you can stay. I love you but you know more than anyone that I have to go to my kids. I hope you respect that. I like how he has Kids but I wished they went about it a different way to keep him and jo together

S J they didn’t say he’d leave her. They said he’d explain why he has to go be there for those kids. For someone who grew up without a good father figure, the prospect of being that for someone else could be completely life changing. It’s actually a sign of great maturity and a sign that he’d be a good parent if he unselfishly went to raise those kids.

Madeline Lopez If he “unselfishly went to raise those kids,” he’s still leaving her, someone who went through hell growing up, has zero family, went through her entire life without a mother or a father, was abused in foster homes until she ended up homeless, was almost killed by her abusive ex husband, and has so many trust and abandonment issues. But because she’s an adult it’s okay to leave her, someone Alex built a relationship with and actually knows for kids who were born without his consent? Using someone else’s sperm without their knowledge is illegal. Izzie clearly had no problems with being a single mother.

I’m Italian, I watch Grey's Anatomy on internet. I still haven't found the courage to watch Alex Karev's latest episode. I am too angry. I loved Izzie and Alex, but Jo is the love of Alex’s life. Thanks to Jo, Alex is reborn, he loved again. This ending canceled out all of Alex's growth. It does not make sense. I will never be able to accept it. And I’m crying while I’m watching this beautiful video 😭

that's not fair for her , i always thought he loved her more than she loved him and i realize it's the inverse. Jo was here for 7 years, they were together for 7 years she stayed and choose him but Izzie left they stayed together for like a year and she left him. that's not fair at all

It kind of reminds me of season 2. When Derek chose Addison because he thought it was the right thing to do. Because he had been married to her for 11 years. But in the end he chose Meredith because he loves her more. Now Alex chose Izzie because they have kids together. But I really hope that in the en of the show he will come back to Jo because their love has always been so pure. (Sorry for the mistakes, English is not my first language)

Alex’s growth throughout the seasons literally was all thrown away with him leaving. THE WORST WRITE OFF EVER.

I just waited for you to do a video about it. What they did with/to Alex is so messed up and he didn't deserve this. They took so much time to build up Jolex and then they destroy them like this? They could of made Alex and Jo still together and Alex could of still found out he had kids and he could go coparent with Izzie and say he moved closer to them and Alex is getting a house ready for him, Jo, and the kids and jo can move there after she finishes up a couple things or have her go back and forth between the two places even if we couldn’t see Alex.

I couldn't watch this video and not comment. This was heartbreaking, perfect, art.

look idec. after all the hardships jo went through and then alex being there for her even when her ex husband came back. he went through so much to make jo trust again. he went through to much to give her a good life full of love and passion. Alex turned into an amazing man. i refuse to believe he would up and leave for a girl he hasn’t seen in 10 years vs having a wife at home who he truly loves and cares for from the bottom of his heart.

This is a beautiful video, I'm in tears... Jo and Alex were endgame, and I'd imagine if Justin Chambers stayed the writers wouldn't have done this to their story-line. I'd prefer him walking out on Jo then killing him off, I am still not over Derek dying!! Izzie Steven was not the woman for him so I'm annoyed that's what the writers chose to use as an exit... However, your work is so good, keep creating amazing content

This is so well done that I love it and I hate it. I feel so bad for Jo that watching this for the 10th time in a row makes my heart hurt for her. They were actually perfect for each other.

I don't care how "beautiful" they tried to explain his leaving through letters (and the cute kids WAS a nice touch)... ...that doesn't take away the fact that what Alex did to Jo was PURE , GRADE-A, FRESHLY-SQUEEZED, F¿CKED UP SH!T, with NO preservatives! (Sorry y'all...I'm making AND canning homemade tomato sauce while typing this, so my brain is in the kitchen!)

i refuse to acknowledge this whole mess happened.. i just know alex my alex WOULD NEVER in a million years do something like this 😐 im so mad they destroyed such a great character (with literally one of the best character development out there) so i'll just keep pretending they're happily together right now because its what thry deserve. anyways... THIS IS BEAUTIFUL and so SO heartbreaking!! also the song choice!!!!! you came for my throat with this one

THIS IS SO SAD….. this actually made me so sad everytime I binge this show..

I understand the actor left at the last minute, and I read they gave a rationale for not killing him off. But he never would have done something so crappy after all that growth. AND the way no character acted like he was an a-hole for doing it! Ack. Rushed hatched job.

My heart hurts so much...

I finished my own fanvideo tribute after 16x16 but hadn't figured out how to render it correctly when this popped into my subscriptions and i was SO excited to see the video right away. I know how talented you are. I'm jealous of you finding a handful of scenes I couldn't find or even had forgotten about but mainly I'm just loving this emotional video so much. Poor Jo. Your editing in this is so beautiful. The song choice works so well and is so full of the right kind of pain.

I don't even watch Grey's Anatomy anymore and even I know this with Alex was the stupidest thing they've ever done. I mean, it doesn't even match his character anymore.

this is gorgeous, i was excited to see you new jolex video because you edit them so well and i knew it would break my heart and i was right :( they deserved better and this ending to their story will never make sense, i hope you continue to vid them because you make the perfect jolex videos!

this is so heartbreaking... apart from how the writers ruin alex’s character. i am really in pieces for jo, she was the love of his life, she thought she was and the second later she was just a woman he loved. she loves him so much, she trusted him, she married him and then one day he left her for another woman who for 5 years didn’t even dare to call alex and tell him she has their children. jo was alex’s everything and the same with alex. i have never experienced it, but somehow I really feel the pain jo is feeling and i am so proud of her because she didn’t leave everything, she didn’t give up, she faced the truth and go on.

I really hope shonda gives them a happy ending. Not an ending where they get together but an ending where they're on good terms because right now there not.

I like how you ended this video. It just goes to show that Jo really is and has been the only person truly in her corner. And I know she had Alex for a long time but then he up and left, she has Meredith but we all know she's a bit everywhere nowadays . Jo has Link but has only just been reunited with him. Jo stands on her own, just as she has her whole life,

I stopped watching season 13 which is the season I was on when I found out he hadn't even been in since last Christmas and he left jo I mean what? He said he'd never leave her like ever and he does love her I know that Alex would have never have left jo not after everything they went through its just sad poor jo she deserved better

i think WE ALL hate this ending, joe deserved better than what krista did to them. he was close to going to jail for her back in season 10, he was literally about to do so many things for her just for him to up and leave?

Haven’t watched season 16 and this spoiled it all, it’s like do I even want to cry this hard omg. This will actually destroy me

I’m so mad with this final. Literally, Grey’s killed his best character, after gone Derek and Cristina, but at least both had a decent ending. This is so humiliating for Karev. Karev season 1 returns and don’t care all the development.

I think they did a good ending for him because we have to remember that THE ACTOR LEFT DURING THE SEASON so they can't explain his left in another way in my opinion. He still loves Jo , but he has kids he has tought about they he said that he loves Jo more than Izzie but he has kids.

i feel like people are overlooking the fact that alex left jo to be with his children and be the father figure that he never had. yes it may seem like a break in character and that he backtracked in character but i feel like this is a very alex thing to do. a spontaneous decision that makes some people unhappy, but ultimately he was there for his children.

He could have been involved in his kids lives without leaving Jo. He could have given her a phone call and then given her the option of comming with him.
