I’ve had many subwoofers over the years… as a teen in the 90s starting out with pioneer 12s, then Fosgate… finally I went to JL. I’ve had dual 12” W6, W3, W0 and my current setup is a 12w7 with a JL 1000.1 amp (high end is Diamond Audio Hex series with JL 200.2 amps for front & another for rear) Alpine head & EQ/5.1 processor. It’s a show level custom instal with tons of other stuff. The quality of JL subs & amps are absolutely top notch. I’ll likely never purchase a different brand for car audio subwoofers or amps. I’d love to do JL home subs, but they’re a tad pricey. Currently using Definitive Technologies speakers in a 7.1 setup. ProCinema 1000s with a Supercube 2000 sub. It sounds fantastic. If your budget allows, JL is a great investment.

I'm very happy to see an analog subwoofer who's crossover goes all the way down to 25hz! Most subs without DSP seem to have a minimum low low pass of 40hz. I'm not really in the market for a sub anyway, but if I were, I wouldn't be able to consider anything with such a high low pass. My main speakers are already extremely powerful down to 30hz, in my room. Anyway, nice review. It would be cool to see at least some basic performance to give a clearer idea of the actual in room performance. As always, it would also be cool to include some comparisons to other popular products in a similar price range. In this case, something like an SVS SB3000, REL HT series, or Rythmic subs. I've tried SVS and REL and the SVS SB3000 is an incredibly powerful, articulate sub in this price range. For almost the same money, you get a 13" driver, 800w amp and onboard DSP, for better or worse. Can the JL 10" hit 17hz in room? ;)

@@rosssmith8481 that's awesome, I've personally never seen any need for under 25/20, in day to day, but to each their own. It's awesome that yours do go down that low though.

I had an e110 with the dreaded "level issue" which caused the subwoofer to sound like it farted. As cool as it looked, i can never go back to them.

I just ordered the Rel T7x to replace my Rythmik L12. Would you say this is a substantial upgrade? I only use it for music and now Im wondering if maybe the JL Audio Dominion was a better option. Thanks your input!

The T7x will not be a substantial upgrade to the L12 with regard to output, the T7x may possibly be a bit quicker but unlikely that it will make a large difference depending on what your other speakers actually are.

My teenage truck had a pair of 15s behind the seat. It would hit so hard the rear view mirror would shake, your nose would itch and people would approach me at intersections asking to turn it down.

Nice sub for sure. But for $1000 I'd probably expect there to be an LFE input for your home theater receivers to plug into.

Your presentation is good however the lighting is too dim. I suppose on a full computer screen it may be fine but honestly guys, showing a black cone and black cabinet with black switches against a dark blue? Screen makes the video …..dark. I’m watching on my iPhone and I also found the volume too low. I had to turn it all the way up. I can’t be the only one with this problem.

A better subwoofer at the same price? You'd LIKE to hear about it? Hmmm. How about a better subwoofer at a LOWER price? Like the Power Sound Audio S2410M. Or the S1512M. Or the EV18F-M. The EV18F-M will walk all over the JL in terms of extension and high level impact.

@@AudioAdvice No problem. PSA is just one more of a slew of internet direct audio companies to emerge over the last decade. Having heard a number of their subs in people's home systems, I can tell you that their price belies their performance.

Doesn’t JL Audio have an 8 inch Dominion D108 also?
