    You can buy threaded inserts that can be melted into the plastic. They are pretty fantastic. You basically mount them onto the solder iron let it heat up and press it in.

    Its overwhelming trying to figure out where to place components and how to mount them in a truck. I have the same problem with my 2011 sierra extended cab. To add insult to injury the floor has a lot of strange contours to it and there is only 1 tiny flat area on each side. I would remove that cup holder in your truck and cut the bracket right off and save it in case you want to put it back.

    That looks pretty good. I think I would have permanently removed that cup holder. Even if I had to cut it out with an angle grinder and a cut-off disc. Lol. The only thing I would have done different is to use tinned copper lugs instead of bare copper. The bare copper tends to oxidize over time and you lose some electrical contact. Are you going to add another piece of wood across the front to cover the top of the amp rack? That would give you some extra protection as well as hide your equipment. You'd be able to toss anything in the back and not worry about it hitting and scratching something.

    Yes, there's a metal bracket that's welded to the floor, and the plastic cup holder sits in that bracket.

    Justin i don't have a router table but do have a hand held router. You think i could mount my abs amp rack to a table with clamps . Clamp a jig guide and then use hand router to do round overs along the rack ?

  • @DIYAudioGuy

    @DIYAudioGuy

    3 ай бұрын

    For a thicker material, like 3/4-in MDF, yes. But you're probably working with 1/4-in ABS. The trick is making sure that you're making a safe cut. You'll need to make sure the ABS is supported, it's so thin that it will be easy to bend. Clamp it right to the edge of the work surface so that the router bearing is on the work surface.

    @DIYAudioGuy yea I was thinkingbthat was the 1 with built in amp but it's not. I was thinking of the 6.1200 it's a full DSP with the amp built in and can daisy chain to other amps while controlling the signal to them as well. I was thinking they had an 8ch version.
