JK Doors Leaking? I HAVE THE FIX! Replace your FLAWED FACTORY SEALS

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

FOLKS! STOP LIVING WITH WET CARPETS!
This is such a common problem on the JK. So common that lots of of folks have come up with some very creative (and mostly temporary) fixes. Well Mopar has a real fix, and it seems like some dealers don't even know about it! THEY RE-DESIGNED THE DANG SEALS! If you're living with wet front footwell carpets every single time i rains on your JK or JKU, watch this video! The seal replacement is simple if you have the part numbers, and those numbers are:
* Note: I've had some folks tell me that they're having trouble finding these using the first part numbers I've listed, and I found that I have better luck with the second part numbers listed, 55395274AW and 55395275AW
0053447343-001 - Passenger (Right) door - (also listed as 55395274AW) amzn.to/3nTYG6k

    Thanks for watching! These specifically fix the leak that happens right at that windshield frame seal, where it meets the door seal. Theyve done a great job for us, but if your leak is elsehwere, and just pools in the same place, your mileage may vary.

    Perfect. I didn't have the removal tool for the plastic clips, but since I'm removing the old seal, it didn't matter: I popped the seal off the clip, then used a pair of needle-nose pliers and a narrow probe to gently pry them out. Also, I ended up getting seals from ExtremeTerrain, and having handle the old and the new seals, the new ones felt significantly heavier.

    Replaced both front door seals with updated parts and pushed my doors in for a tighter fit. Water is still finding it’s way to the the floor trim and polling water on the floor. I couldn’t find any part number for the foam behind the windshield cowl seal ends. The area with the button. I have some neoprene foam to cut up new a new piece but I’m trying to figure out what kind of foam oem uses for that area. The area behind the door seal in the front where it’s secured with plastic might be leaking because of a bad foam seal. But oem is expensive I also wonder what foam would be best to cut up.

    Thanks for watching, and subscribing! Glad you found the video useful! as far as I know, these seals ONLY address the leak at the windshield/body tub joint. However, if your other leak is coming from a worn out door seal, it _may_ help. I just cant say it definitely will. Sometimes upper door leaks come from the seals in the soft top bracketry around the door, or the seals that the freedom panels use at the top of the door. We put a bestop trektop glide on this jeep a few years ago, and it replaced all of those seals, so we dont have any issues there.

I looked at Amazon for Mopar seals but they are always out of stock, so I looked at Amazon's equivalents section where I found some 'Tikscience' listed, they were cheap but the correct part number with the AW, when they arrived they did not have that extra 'ribbing' that you describe so have returned to Amazon (no problem). So far so good on these! It's been a while now since we installed these, they definitely improved the situation. We do sometimes get water inside, but we can usually blame that on the soft top not being seated properly on the tracks above the doors. I definitely would buy these again if I had a JK leaking at that windshield frame seal. But these are specifically to fix -that- problem, if your leak is elsehwere, they may not help.

    My 2016 Jeep Sahara 4 dr. driver's side rear door leaks. It's already been replaced once by Jeep under warranty - just trying to figure out if I should go off brand and see if I have any better luck than Mopar. I've been very disappointed with my Jeep so far.......my hinges are rusting and it's kept in the garage, the leaky door and now my navigation system says "maps are locked." I bought my Jeep brand new so it's not like a bought someone else's problem.

    these are official mopar seals. the problem is that many dealerships don’t know that there’s a new design so they just install the same old flawed seals. we had ours replaced by the dealer once as well. in the video i show how to tell if you’ve got the new seals. if they don’t have the little fins that redirect water, it might be worth a shot. these fix a specific problem though. if your doors are leaking somewhere other than right at the spot where the windshield and the body connect, these seals might not fix your problem.

  • @SWBCrawler

    @SWBCrawler

    5 ай бұрын

    the tj is an entirely different design. I don't know that they ever had redesigned seals (i also have an 05 tj). but with the age of these jeeps it might just be time to replace door and maybe top (if you have a soft top) seals. The tj is also more likely to leak in general. it's just an older design that's not as water tight as the jk and newer jeeps. That's not to say you should expect it to leak. mine is great no leaks at all. it's just that they're more prone to it.

    these have done the trick for me. they are meant to fix a very specific problem though. which i think is why even this video gets mixed reviews. these seals have extra ribs to channel water away from the problem area where that "button" cap is in the seal between the tub and the windshield. if that's not where your leak is or you've also got seal issues with the top or something else these won't help you. in our case we'd already replaced the top, so the seals there were all good. i knew that wasn't likely to be the problem. good luck!

    I don't know if they were ever installed from the factory. Its possible that they were in later model JK's though. If you look at the ribbing thats on the seals in the video, yous should be able to tell if you have the new seals already or not The older seals had no ribbing at all where the seal contacts that rubber seal that is on the jeep where the windshield and body meet. The new seals have ribs. simple as that.
