@Greg Lurik It wasn’t that straightforward for me - trained for 1 year => 2 stripes, had to move - no training for 2 years - started again - tore my acl after half a year => no training for 1.5, started again got blue after about 1 year 🤷‍♂️

Only a white belt but I think the thing I've learned most valuable so far is to stop trying to learn everything and to narrow it down. Been finding much more success with keeping it as simple as possible and slowly adding and taking things away. I used to have hundreds of videos saved in different playlists and im now only finding some success after cutting the vast majority out and drilling the remaining ones. Takes all the pressure out too and makes it fun again rather than an endless grind. Not to mention I'm thinking faster rolling as I'm not thinking about a dozen setups for so many different moves.

For me its been not letting myself get confused by all the techniques and when you find yourself in a position, they come to mind quickly. At first it was like i couldnt remember anything 5 minutes after the drill. Now all those little things are starting to come together like a web of knowledge each time i show up. Its an amazing realization

I realized it's a lot like gaming and the more I do it the more I'd get better so I went everyday and still do to this day. I've been going for a solid 6 months and have the opportunity of a life time to train with a black belt in a very small class so I take it very very seriously. Good video and great advice I'm currently s white belt but I've really improved and feel advance I won my first BJJ tournament 2 Months ago was really excited about that. I had a little bit of a hard time for about my first 2 months then I switched to another gym were the coaches are way better very knowledgeable & patient. I'm looking to get blue belt by the end of this year of 2021. Ever since then I love training jiu Jitsu also with me having a wrestling background and also trained in akido my grappling has really improved and I feel like I've transition well into Bjj. Keep up the good work oss

I was a wrestler back in high school and used to getting smashed, 2 months into my own journey in jiu-jitsu and I absolutely love it. I'm not as bad as I think I am most days, and my strength and aggression I take from wrestling do almost as much good as it does getting me in bad positions. Either way, I still show up, and I smile a little bit when I really get smashed. Just shows me that I've got a looooong road ahead, but I've started it and I'm having the time of my life.

Very good. That's a pretty accurate way of unpacking it. Thanx. I would also add that there is an awakening that usually happens literally the day you get your purple belt. Legs open, hips move better, and your jiu jitsu brain figures things out. I would even say that a lot of my game that I have today, as a black belt, I gained as a purple belt. There is another awakening at black belt.

Nice Vid Jedi, I got my Blue in just over a year and I think ther biggest key to this was focusing on small victories. Primarily focusing on Escapes and defense. Basically if an upper belt didn't submit me, even if they dominated positionaly I counted it as a "win". This mentality helped me bunch.
