I dont know what the gyms are like around you. But at Gracie gyms in the UK they start with GB1 for beginners that doesnt feature hard rolling, just specifics where you put techniques you've learnt into practice. GB1 will teach you a bit of fitness, self defence and fundamentals I highly recommend it! GB2 will intoduce more advanced techniques and rolling but you never have to roll if you're not comfortable or just explain to people you want to roll light and most people will roll at your pace. The majority of people I have met training BJJ have all been very nice, understanding and willing to help out. Hope you find something!

Hey Jedi, thank you for supporting a Veteran organization. It's always cool to see someone give the old war horses a gentle nudge...or an arm bar.
That white belt was real solid.
I love how descriptive you are with your moves and flaws. It’s super helpful for beginners like me. I’m an MMA beginner and i find your videos really useful ❤️.
That's a pretty good white belt.
Your concise commentary is super helpful, but even better than that was plugging support for veterans, really awesome of you, keep it up!
Having back issues myself I feel bad for that black belt. You can tell he really wanted to roll.
Man these step by step play by plays are amazing! Great job all around by everyone involved
I am a 60 year old beginner with a replaced knee so I cannot roll like this anymore, but I love watching your videos and love how technical you are. I learn a lot watching you work...I just can't do it LOL.

If you can maneuver like that BJJ is great for you I mean anybody can do it after a while. I'm a 42 year old white belt who couldn't pop up doing a combat stance now I can a little after consistently practicing and rolling.
Thanks for doing this. I'm a veteran myself and didn't even know about this org. I've been training in jiu-jitsu for the past year and by far has been the most helpful out of anything I've done with the Department of Veterans.
I’m brand new to jujitsu about a month in and that’s the first video I saw of your account from a production standpoint it’s absolutely amazing. I love your commentary. But the thing that I like the best about it is it’s entertaining but I’m also able to learn through watching because you provide the teaching level commentary.

BEST narration EVER!
Really like that you in real (video) time explain your thought process, much like a chess match. Thanks, very educational for us low level ground and pounders. QUESTION: do you think if eye attacks and groin or neck attacks were allowed that that would change the way the ground game would go? I ask only because being a stand up guy mostly with limited ground skills I've found that sudden attacks/grabs to groin, eyes and neck have gotten me out of dangerous situations.
"A fellow man-bun enjoyer" ... I lost it haha, love it!

Im only a white belt. But a guy i beefed with in HS saw me at a gym. He opened his arms so i was expecting it was a bury the hatchet hug. Nope football tackled me. Next thing i knew i was on top with a guillotine like the one from saturdays undercard. I was shocked how fluid it was. I mention this because he was a marine. They’ve got a little to much confidence in the military hand to hand combat
Dax is a beauty. Very welcoming at his academy

Man, im glad I discovered your youtube channel not so long ago, just when I started 3 weeks ago with Bjj. It's really cool you comment every single detail of each roll you are into. I was wondering what is your view about bjj and injuries. I got myself a fucked up finger and got a scary moment with my shoulder in just 3 weeks of doing jj, do people really fuck up themselves their knees/necks/backs that easy? or only when going ape mode without being cautious? Thanks bro.

hey bro ive tried to craft an injury free style. I never invert and live by the saying tap early tap often. i also give up positions that people are really fighting for. when it becomes a strength vs strength competition is when most injuries occur, opt to lose those in service of your body. also dont roll with guys who are much heavier, espeically if theyre new

I know your nice at Joy Jitsu, Little Wrestling tip- when some one has a single leg on you put the leg in between their’s and then get an underhook, when they pressure in Roll backwards and you will end up on top. This was one of my favorite counters I’ve ever learned if you hit it just right you could get a gulliotine when you get on top.

You can go to classes that just go through the technique. You don't have to roll like this if you don't want to, but if you do, the more experienced guys will just go at your pace. Get in touch with local gyms and see if they offer beginner classes.

You can do it! Great advice in the other comments. A good instructor and experienced students should be able to teach you techniques and let you control the level of roughness. BJJ should be about training, learning in a safe environment and everyone needs to respect the Tap. You got this.
