    Hey Will I just found your channel today and am so glad I did. I’m a blue belt that just turned 40 this year and have been training for almost 7 years. Had to take a break with gyms being closed during the pandemic and then I tore my Achilles a few years ago which sucked big time. For me a combination of Jiu Jitsu and functional training specifically kettlebell training has helped a ton to get into the kind of shape I want to be in. Looking forward to seeing all of your amazing content here.

    Yes sir!! Lol simple action beats perfect action. Just came across this channel. 59yr old who almost stopped jiu-jitsu at blue belt. Not in best of shape. Haven't been training due to injuries and life laziness. Now that I'm older I just feel weak and incomplete towards jiu-jitsu. Just maybe in your videos I will find something that will work for me. No focus on anyone's els .it all about me now. Diet to feeling better and stronger. We'll see.

    I have always lived a pretty active life. Last 2 years have been body building very seriously. Went from 154-170lb mostly muscle. 75% of the gains we in the 1st year. Never use to eat like a body builder before. I am going to BJJ 2 times a week only because I don’t want to loose my gains. I am natural and want to complete my 3rd year of body building and maintain eventually. Last time bench pressing my shoulder hurt and I believe it was because of jiu jitsu and training too hard. It’s hard to gain muscle and do body building while doing jiu jitsu.

    Nice, man! Sounds like you’re crushing it! Yea, make sure you’re hitting your protein and calorie goals, take creatine, try lifting 4 days a week and aim for progressive overload. And since you’re working hard, you haaaaaave to take sleep seriously and aim for 6 to 8 hours of quality sleep a night. That’s going to be a game changer if you aren’t doing it already.

    Honestly Im a 240 pounder who has been doing no gi for 5 years and flowing is more cardio intensive than sparring. The issue is that with sparring heavy people there are times you have multiple submission available in a given position like scarf holder and you stay there keeping the pin where as a couple of heavy weights flowing through escape and chain submissions is more taxing on my cardio.

  • @willbrooksofficial

    @willbrooksofficial

    6 ай бұрын

    Great point. Yea, flowing can be really great for cardio because it’s constant movement even in positions where someone could “rest” for a minute. I normally flow past pinning positions in flowing and I can definitely feel the difference. And yea, chaining subs can be draining too for sure
