Ive been fan of Jiri since 2015 and i can tell that if you like fighting not media drama you will fall in love with this guy. Every of his fights has pure combat energy, like two warriors would go to a war thousand years ago on a battlefield. He doesnt have a strict plan, just focuses on the moment and always goes for a finishes, not points. His insane atributes as granite chin, reach, strong hips and one shot power make him one of a kind guy. Appreciate him while he is here and healthy.:)

Those who know JIRI from the Rizin Era they will know how precious this guy is. The match with Karl Albrektsson was the proof how can Jiri comeback from anywhere. Karl is one of the best Wrestler in Rizin and in the match Karl dominated him nearly 9 minutes 30 sec in the ground(Yes Rizin had 10 MIN ROUND! ), Jiri didn't lost his composure, came back with a bang and in just 30 sec JIRI won the match with Standing punches. Those who watched that match they knew Jiri can comeback even if he down 0-4 round. This man's Grit, Will power and composure is Immense.

For People that question Jiris fighting style. Jiri models his training and fighting style after the samurai Miyamoto Musashi 1584-1645 Think about how Jiri fights when he's directly trying to finish his opponents, while reading this Musashi quote: "The sure way to win thus is to chase the enemy around in a confusing manner, causing him to leap aside, with your body held strongly and straight." With his flow of attacks never repeating and from odd angles, Jiri swarms his opponents and doesn't give them rest, which is another thing Musashi talked about. How when your opponent is tired, or stumbles, or their mindset's thrown off, you should not let them even get a moment's respite, to recover; yet of course do this in a calculated way, not just charging in Edit: every thing but his flying knees ...

One of my favorite things about Jiri is how he’s adopted the “doesn’t matter” phrase. Jiri vs Jan in Czech Republic would be insane. I think that should be customary. When a new Champ/star rises the UFC holds their first title defense in their home country. It would be solid marketing & mean a lot to the ppl as well.

12:37 Ariel actually acknowledging that he struggles with English which is weird because Ariel never keeps that in mind while asking questions to people who only understand basic English. Just a minute earlier Ariel asked him if he felt that Glover "felt deflated" before the submission attempt. Jiri had absolutely no idea what he said. Ariel ought to know better and make an attempt to speak in more basic and understandable words to new English speakers. Yet Ariel NEVER does with any broken English guests. My guess is that it's his broadcaster ego. It won't let him sound any different than he wants to as a broadcaster.

@@kghd2647 Glad I'm not alone in that. Haha. I've always thought it was just me. Guys who struggle with English and reporters continue asking questions with advanced English words. This happens in so many interviews and UFC press conferences and press events. Seems like common sense if you're talking to someone who you know struggles with English. You have to talk to them in basic terms. Almost like you'd talk to a younger child.

Yup. I bought that book on his recommendation and it has helped me a lot in my own profession. And reading it gives a lot of insight into why he fights the way he does. People kind of criticize how loose he is, but the secret is his opponents unconsciously mirror that looseness and start to make tiny mistakes and that's when he takes the advantage.

Man this guy is sooo intriguing. Like his style, his attitude, his desire to improve. During the octagon interview after becoming champion, the dude literally apologized for not doing good enough. I mean come on... Let's be honest, what other fighter has gone through a back and forth war, won the championship via stoppage, and immediately criticized their performance?! That attitude is what is going to drive him to keep dominating the division.

  • @Kenlac92

So glad this was addressed because too many idiots keep saying he tapped. He was actively defending immediately after these moments of tapping. Somebody throwing in the towel isnt going to do that. He has been defeated via choke in the past because he passsed out, AKA not tapping. And he has been warned by Marc Goddard to stop tapping like that because it looks sketchy. He did not tap out guys.

I would say Jan is a particularly hard fight for Jiri. Very defensively responsible powerful counter puncher who is not easy to hit clean and fights behind his jab. Adesanya had difficulty hitting him clean and Rakic in round 1 missed all but one of his strikes to the head against him, and had most of his leg kicks checked. Jiri will get his stand up fight, but I think he would to struggle.
