Jinjer "Vortex" REACTION & ANALYSIS by Vocal Coach / Opera Singer
Jinjer is at it again, this time with my new favorite track of theirs. This new single, taken from their upcoming album Wallflowers, brought me so much joy and eye candy, along with killer vocals. What is happening to me? I listen to opera!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Jinjer performing "Vortex” from their new album Wallflowers.

The live version of this song is even more impressive! Tati actually sings all these parts live. My jaw hit the floor.
I really like this Jinjer song. One of their best for sure. It is sophisticated, intricate, groovy, progressive but cohesive at the same time. Production is nuts. Every member is nuts. Tatiana shows a very wide vocal range that is out of this world. But overall what fascinates me is the whole band is so sofisticated and unique that many people don't realise how much Jinjer are ahead of their time. I've been listening metal for the last 30ish years and it is my opinion.
Elizabeth's laugh at 16:40 is so good!! Ironically, her laugh and general reaction to 'out-there' music/vocals, is what got me sucked into the wonderful vortex that is The Charismatic Voice 🤣
I see what you mean with the comparison to Gwen Stefani and Tatiana, there is a lot of ska and reggae influences in both No Doubt and Jinjer.
You really need to watch Jinjer live to hear her true vocal talent. She sounds better live than in studio. No lies. 🖤🖤🖤
That's not an ordinary Vortex, that's the Jinjer Rabbit Hole.... And it's going to suck the whole world in.... And inside the vortex, is what she channels her growls/screams from
I almost died when you paused right before the big "Swiiirrrrrrrrrrrrrllll" growl! I've listened to this song tons now and every single time that growl gets me! Jinjer is easily my favourite band right now. So fantastic!!
After being sucked into the Jinjer rabbit hole, I’ve come to the conclusion that they are the modern day Queen. You have an amazing vocalist in Tatiana who possesses amazing charisma, range, and presence on stage. Once you look past Tatiana, you realize just how good of musicians that Roman, Vlad, and Eugene are and how essential they are to the band and to the music. When it comes to the music, I was talking with someone and “Crazy Little Called Love” came on and the person I was talking with asked who that was. After I told them who it was, their response was it didn’t sound like Queen and I asked “What does Queen sound like?” I then listed a bunch of songs that don’t fit a particular genre much less what you’d hear from one band be able to pull off and do it with same level of quality. “Pisces.” “Bad Water.” “Judgment and Punishment.” “Words of Wisdom.” “Teacher Teacher.” “Sit Stay Roll Over.” Great songs by the same band but songs that manage to mesh so many different styles without sounding like utter messes.
I feel like they have such a great understanding of atmosphere it’s crazy, every part of the vocals gives you the exact pull with the lyrics , the guitar is intricate in the beginning it gives you a sense of questioning what’s to come and then you’re explained what’s happening and then you’re being slowly pulled and spun around and spewed out. This song gives me goosebumps and the last part where she does the low growls it felt like such a release through the acceptance of the chaos, like the chaos is there and we can’t do nothing about it but take it in, it’s just crazy.
The whole band creates a literal vortex with their sound. The guitars have a lot of bends and slides, and Tatiana pitches her voice up and down throughout her verses, and it results in a swirling sound that resonates throughout the song.
7:31 I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE that Elizabeth is at the point where Tatiana's scream vocals and the band's heavy riffs come in and instead of being shocked or startled, she now lights up with endless joy. 15:57 If you also didn't react like this at that killer transition, you have no soul left in your body. Seeing Elizabeth enjoy this so much totally made my day. I love when people enjoy my favorite stuff as much or MORE than I do. Amazing, wonderful analysis/reaction! Also, really cool of Elizabeth to pick up on the groove of the band. That's one of the things about Jinjer that I truly feel sets them apart from a lot of bands in this genre/style. But also, this song is special. It just has an unmistakable power and quality that no one can ignore. If this got any radio play, I feel like it could make them megastars. (Kudos for the Hades shoutout, too!)
The amount of disappointment followed by maniacal laughter at 16:40-16:44 is the absolute best. I'll be real I have never heard them but will definitely be checking them out.
I'd love to see your reaction to In This Moment - Big Bad Wolf.

Hi Elizabeth, this is my 4th Jinjer video and I enjoyed this performance. "Vortex" is probably Tatiana's best vocal performance to date, and the entire Band was incredible, especially Vladi on drums. This song was really amazing. Thank you, Elizabeth!!! 💙
Everything you mentioned in this analysis is of course dead on. I read somewhere that Tati wrote this about her anxiety. For me, dead accurate, every single note and beat along with the video is my experience fighting (and failing to defeat) a panic attack. That disorientation is REAL.
