Hey man…from a fellow off-road enthusiast it is very nice to see videos that properly do off roads…off road also requires understanding the limits of your vehicle…it is nice to see no unnecessary bashing of cars and tug of wars in the name of testing them and passing them off as failures…such videos have been on an upward trend since the jimny got here…nice work man…keep taking the road less travelled !!

Thar is a heavy vehicle. Hence, Thar requires more momentum. Jimmy is light, so its K15B engine can manage to pull it out anywhere.

@@lipokyanger7685 Its opposite in most cases, because there is low torque in low and mid range of the Jimny it has to be revved and cannot crawl slowly unlike Thar which has good amount of torque starting from idle speeds.

Hello Anshuman bhai.Have u observed when rear diff lock engaged in thar and scorpio,is the traction control is working.Because in fortuner when rear diff lock engaged it switch off Atrac and making front tyres as open differentials.Otherwise the Atrac in fortuner is one best out there.

The Thars traction control works with the rear autolockers unlike Fortuner and Hilux where you can use either the locker or the active traction control and locker cant be used in high range. This functionality is reserved for top end Prado 😂 . Its a flawed system in Fortuner and Hilux.

I own a thar and have taken Thar off road 3-4 times in around one and a half year. Thar AT diesel is a go to car. Have not done modifications on my Thar and so far I have done off roading without guidance of any technical off road person. Let me tell you, with Thar you actually become a quick learner of off road yourself as it's off road capability gives confidence and we ourself start improving our ability to drive off road. I have experienced three different terrain so far (River bed, desert, trail full of ruts.) My Thar has never disappointed me. Infact I know with a better club or off road specialist by my side, I can improve myself much more. All thanks to Thar's off road capabilites. Even Thar is a better vehicle on highway as well as in city due to it's better steering and handling on curves. Jimny might be a good vehicle but Thar is a package....

completely agree with you being a Thar owner. I can cruise comfortably quick on highroad and I am always amazed with its offroad capability at the same time.

Problem with 235 or any larger diameter taller tyres in Jimny is that this car is already weak in low and mid revs torque and any taller gearing will make it worse.

Does thar have a rear differential lock? The only thing I know it has is MLD . Correct me if im wrong . Or is it only exclusive for automatic diesel?

It just had MLD that too in Diesel variants only. No diff locks at all in Thar in rear. Front has BLD

Jimny as road use only doesnt really make sense, but if you like character and feel of it, you can go ahead and buy one. There are far nicer to drive cars pn road for the same price.

Havent driven the car at High altitude yet, so cant say. From what I know its an vacuum pressure related issue that affects both front 4wd hubs and brakes.

Too early to conclude that. Some places Jimny is better others Thar is better. In stock form its a tie but Jimny has infinite upgrade potential unlike Thar so its my pick for purely offroading.

1. Not even 1% of the people buy the car for its offroad performance. Majority buy for the pretend/pose value of the car. For this Thar scores much higher. The Thar 2wd is a better buy for majority. 2. Jimny was overpriced at launch, it was doomed to fail but had decent per car margin for the company. With the price correction sales should improve but will never match the Thar 2wd. 3. Jimny as waiting period in all export markets and is priced at premium there, so Maruti will eventually focus mostly on exports.

Make Videos with WRANGLER on some heavy obstacles.

Jimny is a nice car but price is not nice :(

Would really love to see thar performance without its real MLD. MLD gives it a huge advantage over Jimny.

Petrol thar better pick than Jimny It’s just a myth petrol engine overheat in off-roading . Jimny and Thar petrol have same average . If you feel engine heat a lot at off-road just change the engine oil to 5w40

Petrol Thar overheats for real. We have tested it on 3 Thars and sold all 3 cars for the same reason. Changing oil cant fix the inherent design defect of the engine.

All Petrol Thars to date have overheating issue. Its an design defect in engine, radiator or change of fan cant fix. For the same reason Scorpio N, XUV 700, Thar 5 door will not get Petrol 4X4/AWD. We know our stuff.

I guess NA petrol engines with larger displacement are better option, since most 4x4s here in dubai are powered by larger displacement NA V6s which are often used for touring around the desert. They also weigh lesser than most average turbo charged 4 cylinder diesels. ( a 1grfe v6 from the petrol version of fortuner weighs around 166 kilos while the 4 cylinder 1gdftv diesel engine weighs around 185).
