What do you mean glamour? Personally I am a christian. I love Jesus with all my life. I grew up loving Zeppelin and I remember walking around in a shirt that showed lucifer falling from heaven. I loved the music, (so talented) I loved also the Tolkien aspects of zeppelin as I am a huge huge Tolkien superfan (read all books numerous times) and I grew up going through puberty loving zeppelin (such melody so beautiful) then I became aware of the satanic imagery and I became aware of Jimmy Page's occult overtones and I kind of had to make a choice between lucifer and Jesus. I have chosen Jesus. Now that doesnt mean I run and hide if I hear stairway to "hell" and I can appreciate the music. However now the lyrics seem shallow, lustful, and somewhat selfish and satanic. I am not a legalist, just a fat white canadian ex druggie and sinner (well I still sin unfortunately but I try and love people and give to as many as I can) but I really love some of their old songs. Anyhow what do you think about my comment. Also how are you today? where are you from? what is your ideologies? if you want to divulge. I like talking to people.OK bye Brightbite. @@planes3333 Let's say for arguments sake that what you say is true, forgive me if I seem to be cynical but there are far more examples of deceit out there when it comes to a Christian interpretation of Led Zeppelin than I would care to name, but in this instance let us take what you say at face value and of course disregard the fact that if you were to be born in another county or another time your God would probably have a different name with different symbology, in honour of your truth. The change is here... then I became aware of...and then nothing after that. These five words inform everything you state, everything you want to tell the world and perhaps everything you believe we all should believe in. But that was all you said. As an edit (which I do not like doing) it should be stated the possibility of deception that lies with every word written by any religious person in regard to Led Zeppelin. May history repeat it's lesson, indeed it could be said that such lies beget themselves in their writing to reveal the truth hidden therein to the writer unknown, and then to be known, regardless of which God they see.

No matter what anyone says in the comments jimmy was really deep into the occult he loved that shit, I don't really believe backwards music stuff but come on guys no secret what he was doing back in the day look at all the bad shit that happen to the group

He chooses his words carefully in this one. Though, he cannot hide his sheer fascination with eastern and western mysticism which is evident in the grin he had shown to the youngster. I'm also an aficionado of the occult, I've read a lot about Aleister Crowley, including his works. Here in my country, it's very difficult to find any sort of books related to the matter that drudged into the deeper aspect of the subject. The only institution to run to for materials was U.P. which had a vast collection of those books, including the practices and all the serious stuff.

Many coincidences about stairway to heaven: 1. Song says “sometimes words have two meanings”. 2. Lucifer fell out of heaven. 3. Jimmy page owned crowleys home. 4 crowleys home was called “the tool house” which is allegedly alluded to in the backward version of stairway. 5. On of crowleys teachings was to to be able to speak backwards. 6. On stairway jimmy page uses a technique on his guitar called “reverse reverb” which sounds like a tape going backwards. 7. The song says “yes there are two paths you can go on” 8. “The piper will lead us to reason” can be interpreted as satan and the Faustian deal. He also goes on to say “the piper is calling you to join him. I never used to believe it and always thought people were crazy but I think I beleive it now. Especially cause plant doesn’t wanna sing the song anymore.

I think Jimmy is being 100% candid about the "Stairway" backwards issue. It's not a deflection he just exposes it for the rubbish it is. I have actually played the song backwards & listened closely to the phrases in question. They sound vaguely as they are purported to. But that's it. I also found a lot of other phrases that sound like more innocuous things if you convince yourself enough. Funnily enough though, I played "Livin Lovin Maid" backwards & at the beginning - or end LOL - of the guitar solo it sounds like Plant is saying "Go Jimmy!"

It stems from a musical idea that became more pronounced publicly with Lennons Strawberry Fields, a song he, in my opinion, deliberately and specifically wrote to sound like a song playing backwards. And he wrote it brilliantly, such an idea in the hands of the musical genius of Lennon could only sound out of this world. Maybe that is why Jimmy references The Beatles in this question in a roundabout way who knows. Isn't the riff in question like...the root notes and stairway basically builds on it to stretch out the arpeggio a little? I mean yeah its the same chord shape but its not like it lines up perfectly. I guess it's the music equivalent to being legally distinct whether the artist who wrote the chord progression originally agrees with that or not. Jimmy Page put more effort than Vanilla Ice that's for sure.
