To be fair, most walls in history did what they were intended to do. The Great Wall of China was meant to stop raids from the nomadic northern tribes a d it did that quite well, it wasn't meant to stop an invading army, which it failed to do.

"Mexico will pay for the wall, I promise you", Donald Trump. "The wall will pay for itself", Donald Trump. "The tariffs on Mexico will pay for the wall" Donald Trump. Wtf?, the tariffs on Mexican imports to America may well pay for the wall, but the American people and American businesses will still be picking up the tab for this stupid inefficient wall. The reason?, because if you buy a pool table for example from Mexico and there is a 5% tariff on said pool table, it is you the purchaser who will have pay that 5%.

Valid point, but the US loses millions (at least) a year to immigrants coming into this country illegally. It's not always what you make, but sometimes about what you don't lose.

@@keaganlong4176 That's not going to stop with this stupid wall, there are already barriers at the most high risk areas on the border and they are defeated pretty easy. The people coming in are desperate and the wall will just play into the hands of criminal gangs who will go around, over and even under the wall. That being said the "wall will pay for itself" argument still isn't Mexico paying for the wall which he firmly and repeatedly promised on the campaign trail. Better putting some of the money into hiring more border patrol agents and improving electronic surveillance, it's more effective and far less expensive, Trump likes to say walls have been around for along time, but the truth is people have been defeating walls for just as long.
