Marc Daryl Mateo they don't. ER's are required by law to give people in need care, citizen or not, rich or poor. if Kimmel was an illegal Mexican with $0, his son would still have had surgery. The issue occurs if someone has lifelong problems that ARENT life or death, or are extremely hard to get like transplant surgery.

I believe you're mistaken. Hospitals are only required to give critical life saving treatment. No hospital or doctor is required to give ongoing care to a chronically ill patient, like Jimmy's son. Heart disease is a chronic illness. We are still one of the richest nations on earth and we shouldn't have to worry if our kids can get a free lunch at school, get life saving surgery or get the education we need. Especially when the president is blowing money left and right on golf and his wife and son's Secret Service protection because they don't want to live in the White House. He's already spent more money on golfing trips than the government was spending on Meals on Wheels. He had no problem cutting the funds to that. It's very hard to see so many in need.

Why do people have to make out celebrities are superhuman and make out normal/everyday actions they do are somehow magical and monstrously praised? He doesn't and didn't do anything special at all, anyone would thank the hospital team of where their child was cared for. If he didnt/if a NORMAL person didn't aknolledge their staff that saved their child's life, that is the anomaly, not the fact that he did thank them

As an ICU nurse, you should stop giving medical care to stupid people: to breeders (though I agree: their children should get care - not their fault they were forced into this world against their will) to religionists, to republican voters, to democrat voters. There is no scientific proof that anti-science anti-math anti-logic people "suffer" from massive blood loss or oxygen not getting to their cells. Flatearthers, antivaxxars, moonlanding deniers, Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) denies, christians, muslims, Wall Street defenders, LOVE having their kidneys or livers or hearts fail. Or getting blood clots in their legs or brains. This is just atoms moving around in different directions for them.

Hospital employees are angels on Earth. I know because I work in the Dietary Department of my local hospital; even though employees in Dietary, Housekeeping, and Maintenance are considered "behind the scenes" employees we are just as important as the doctors and nurses. Employees in Dietary have a responsibility to properly feed the staff, employees and visitors. Housekeepers have a responsibility to keep the patient rooms clean and sanitary and maintenance workers have a responsibility to make sure the electricity and plumbing are functioning properly.

When I had to have a major surgery and was in the hospital for a week, I sent flowers and some chocolates to the nurses who took care of me all day and night. It falls squarely under the umbrella of 'anything I can do for you.' I might before and afterwards personally think that it is an exercise in futility, but not everything is about me and what I think.

But if someone close to me requests me to pray for someone suffering, I will do so becoz I love them. This wont solve the problem though. In order to get it solved, I will simply rely on the doctors of this world and believe in their ability to change lives.

I wasn't ready for this video. You can tell Jimmy and his wife will forever be grateful to those nurses and doctors for saving their precious child

I like Jimmy Kimmel but I don’t think it was a good idea for him to be a new father at age 50. Plus he has kids that all grown up at his age he should be a grandfather!

I like Jimmy Kimmel but I don’t it was good idea for Jimmy to be new father in his 50s because at that age you’re suppose to be a grandfather. And he has kids that all grown up like let them over. I understand that he’s remarried but does he really be raising teenagers young adults in his 60’s and 70’s. And that age I’d want grandchildren.

Wether you like Jimmy Kimmel or not, I can't fathom dealing with this with my family. And yet he's strong enough to share something like this with the world. Godspeed Billy 👆

Who in the world would dislike this video it's a true story and nobody would never want to see this happen to his children. I am happy for you Jimmy that you're son is well and that nobody would ever get to experience such a thing.

Wow! You had an amazing nurse. As a nurse and nurse practitioner, we are are the front line. We have something called “nurse’s intuition”, which guides us to find subtle abnormalities. For her to catch TOF (tetralogy of Fallot) so quickly is truly talented and highly skilled. We are sadly underpaid and overworked in comparison to the level of care we provide. I continued on to nurse practitioner so I could continue honing my skills. I have saved many lives, and I have to tell you, it’s the most amazingly fulfilling feeling. It makes those stressful days of “Where’s the Doctor? I want to see a doctor!”, drug seekers and the massive amounts of documentation and hoop jumping seem infinitely minuscule. We take our work everywhere as well, and can’t help but diagnose anyone we see out in public. I am so glad his TOF was found and surgically corrected so quickly!

You are so right! Some people catch it and some don't. My son Mikey was born with Tetralogy of Fallot, Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAS. About two hours after my c-section, I noticed he turned solid purple and got the nurse. Things blew up and got very scary, very fast.
