    To me the best part of his speech, "I did not dream they could do it, I BELIEVED" cant imagine as a player or coach the feeling of somone truly believing you can be better.

    You can see why the guys that he coached would run through a brick wall for him. He's just inspiring and can fire you up to do anything. Well done Jimmy!

    They loved him and it's evident by the way they looked at him during his speech. It's like they still have that respect and admiration for him. The man commands respect

    They loved him, but feared him at the same time. None of the players wanted Jimmy to yell at them so they just did whatever he said. That's actually been documented. What most people don't know is that Jimmy was wound tighter than an 8 day clock back then and he was under an enormous amount of pressure. His drinking habits thrown in and you got a recipe for problems. It was the straw that broke the camel's back. I loved Jimmy and wish things had gone differently. Glad to see he's finally getting his due.

    He treated the great players differently. Sure he would push them to give their best, but he wasn’t giving Emmitt Smith an ass chewing because it wasn’t necessary.

    That statement is correct. Jimmy did just that. His players can attest to that. After his Cowboys won their first SB he was much tougher on them. It was hard enough to win one but to repeat is even harder. He treated them knowing there was more to them. They could get better. Thank you Jimmy for your years of coaching and sacrifices.

    Enduring that 1-15 season drove Jimmy to fix the Cowboys like no one had ever overhauled a team before. Jimmy was one of the greatest team builders that ever coached/GM. Once he acquired the talent, he transformed the team into champions.

    I am a huge Cowboys fan there ever was since 1972! I love Jimmy and I don't dislike Jerry, but they were 1-15 it was like these 2 clowns don't know what they are doing. That Herschel Walker Trade set them on there way to greatness if that didn't happen would jimmy and Jerry ever even be here in the Hall of Fame? that was the great train robbery if I ever seen one, Jimmy you should have giving a huge thanks to Minnesota in that speech.

    @@jamesvolpe3581 good points. If they go close to .500 that first year, I don’t know that they react so aggressively in churning the roster. Without all of those high picks, the transformation does not happen as quickly.

    As a Cowboys fan for nearly 50 years I've been waiting for this ever since Jimmy left Dallas. He was a difference-maker and that's the kind of people that need to be in the Hall of Fame. He speaks to everybody here on the human element in believing in yourself. Well done Jimmy, congratulations

    Never been a Cowboys fan but I always loved and respected Jimmy Johnson. He’s a born leader and just has an element of humble confidence and belief in the mission that infects everyone around him with positive momentum. A special coach and an even better human being. Congrats.

    @@baseball4life1403 you obviously haven't listened to Jimmy Johnson's own comments. If it wasn't for Jerry, this wouldn't have happened. It took both Jerry and Jimmy to make all the success the Cowboys had in the 90s. Jerry doesn't do it without Jimmy and Jimmy doesn't do it without Jerry. And Jimmy didn't really want to stay and coach the Cowboys. He has clearly stated Jerry doesn't deserve all the blame for the split. Jimmy Johnson is a class act.

    From a Cowboys fan I want to say thank you Steelers fan, you were right we probably would have done something like the Steelers of the 70s, perhaps maybe won 4 or 5 in a seven-year period or something like that. It drives us crazy even to this day not knowing what it could have been.

    Nicely Said! I agree that Zach Thomas belongs in the Hall of Fame! He was just as important as Jason Taylor on that Miami Defense back in the day. It was a joy to watch him play every Sunday. One of the best Linebackers to ever play the game! Watch the film folks! #54

    I have been a cowboy fan since 1975, and I’m now 51! I live in the heart of Wisconsin, this is so well deserved! What a humble man! The best coach in Dallas right along side Tom Landry! Now to be in the cowboy ring of honor is the icing on the cake! Congratulations to you Jimmy’s Johnson!!!! So long over due!!!

    After his 1-15 season I wrote Jimmy a letter telling how things were going to get better fast and told him to stick to his plan. I was shocked a week later when I got a big package from the Dallas Cowboys office. Jimmy wrote me a great letter, along with a stack of pictures of the team, the cheerleaders, and a big picture of himself with his hand written words "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity" I really appreciate him taking the time to do that.

    He sure did, we had no business beating you guys in '92 we weren't ready to beat a vet team like San Fran, but jimmy attitude had the players truly believing they were the better team. In '93 in the cowboys were the better team no doubt and it's bc jimmy build a hell of a squad.

    I hate the Cowboys, but THIS as well as Drew Pearson were overdue. I really enjoy the speeches from these legends of the game. People still respect the style that Johnson brought to coaching...people still seek this man out for advice. That is truly awesome.

    As a 12yr old kid watching your team win superbowls you don't realize what you're witnessing before your eyes. It isn't till your man of 39 you comprehend how special he (Jimmy) was and still is. It gives you that much more appreciation of his accomplishment and that of the team. Watching his speech I reverted back to being 12 and watching with anticipation coach Jimmy. The joy of my childhood relived 10x. Cowboys forever QTL Jimmy Johnson HOF 🐐

    What an awesome speech! This man really loves coaching! Used some of his speech time to give us all a good coaching we sorely need in life. My childhood hero. I've witness the dynasty with my very own 2 eyes at the ol Texas Stadium. Great memories with my family and with my pops. About DAMN TIME he is in the HoF! Long over due!

    @@Supermanfan99 oh my yes Emmitt, Darrel and that O-line were superb. Jimmy has a great eye for talent. He is as good a coach if not better than Belichick. Emmitt was still pretty darn good until 2000. I don’t see them losing in 1995 playoffs against San Fran. Emmitt was all pro or a pro bowl selection through 99. 93-99 whew….. oh well fun to think about

In my humble opinion, Coach Jimmy Johnson's 10 minute speech, forever preserved here, will go down in the history books among the greatest heart-felt, motivational speeches of recent times. Coach Jimmy Johnson may not believe in dreaming, but where there is hope there is life, and Coach Johnson gives us all hope. Mr. Johnson, NFL Hall of Famer, you are a great American for all to admire. May God continue to Bless you and your family and may the wind always be at your back. Aug 21 FL USA

    My heart feels so good now that one of the most beloved and favorite coach in Jimmy Johnson has finally made it to the Hall. I never had the opportunity to watch the great Tom Laundry coach my favorite team the Cowboys. So, Jimmy Johnson is who I grew up watching. So many fond memories and some of the best times of my life. Thank you Jimmy for all you did for the game and for the Dallas Cowboys!!! All I got to say is, How bout them Cowboys!!!!!

    It's about time....Congrats, Coach, you deserve it!!! I am a Falcons fan and I've watched quite a number of "showdowns" between the Falcons and the Cowboys; going all the way back when Staubach played and Tom Landry was Coach...Fast forward to Coach Jimmy Johnson and the Triplets: Troy, Emmitt and Michael....Man those were amazing games to watch. Congratulations, again Coach!!!

    No, with all the respect I love Jimmy too but he was a contributor to the organization not better than Tom Landry and I'm not going to say Tom is better than Jimmy I love them both. I was very happy as a fan to have them both as a coach.

    It's why Jimmy is so emotional and a bit tongue tied. He knows that hes getting old and he wants to embrace every good person and moment in life before it's too late. Hes human. He scared of dying and knows hes doesn't have another 50 years. His behavior has changed. Great guy, great coach, and well deserved!

    One of the last of a dying breed. He didn’t care who you were, where you came from, your name , nothing. He treated everyone as the same, and got the respect for it. He will go down as one of the best “Motivators “ and coaches, of all time. And he’s a Port Arthur boy !!! Congratulations Jimmy !!!!!!!

    I love watching the HOF speeches because, even though we as fans absolutely hate and despise some players and coaches when the game is on the line, we can all come together to appreciate the immense talent and legacy that these men have left behind. And I think that’s beautiful

    So glad he mentioned Zach Thomas. It's a damn tragedy he isn't already in the HOF. He was a better and more impactful LB than Brian Urlacher and no one will convince me otherwise.

    Zack "No Neck" Thomas. Dude was a tackling machine. One of the best Mikes I've ever seen. Jessie Tuggle is my favorite. Of course, I'm an Atlanta native. He's another, who should be a HOFer.

    QTL is my NFL team 🥺 that was a great speech from Jimmy. I felt those words about having and spending time with your love ones. I'm glad he took small step back from broadcasting and using that time for himself with love ones

    Always hated Jimmy because without him, my Niners probably have another 2 SB rings. This guy did an amazing job bringing that franchise back to life. He earned this.

    @@timothybrown5999, Jerry Jones was, ironically, one of the biggest proponents of the salary cap. He was always more interested in making money than winning championships. But I think the NFL is the only of the big 3 sports leagues where the small markets can compete consistently.
