So this is a reference to the Chicago band Triple Fast Action, correct? That's what I always assumed but I wonder if I over thought this for all of these years. TFA's lead singer and song writer is none other than Wes Kidd who co-produced Static Prevails.

With them asking Davey Von Bohlen to feature in the bridge after this "fast action" demo was recorded, I'm curious behind Jim's intent of the lyrics "Come on Davey, sing me something that I know" when writing it. Davey wrote his part alone with no input from the band, and the idea to reference songs, including those of the Promise Ring was his idea, so did Jim just imagine the setting this song is taking place in to be a Promise Ring show, or was it just an inside reference to their friendship? I'd love to know.

As one of those die-hard 90s era J.E.W fans who bemoans their selling out, I still love the Bleed American demos. But not the actual album. Because of the production not because of the songs. Things like the autotune that was used on the final version of this track, the way the way they drowned out Jim with the backing vocalists on "Hear You Me"...insulting.
