    There were two (2) bad calls there; both by Jimmie: 1. Restarting before the restart line ahead of Juan. 2. Not giving the spot back on the first lap when he had the chance. That's all on Jimmie and no one else. Juan just out-smarted him.

Even when the Tack does turn red it just means its over the set speed, Green has 5 dots and when the 5th dot is on, any more and the tack turns red.

    ah, Clint Bowyer, (look at other camera angles this one you cant tell) then he checked up so hard that it almost wrecked Brad Keselowski and Jeff Gordon. Tony Stewart was in the back on Montoya (physically pushing) all the way into turn 1. Furthermore Clint Bowyer had gotten back by Montoya by turn 2. TBH the only reason Montoya was going anywhere was because Tony Stewart was pushing him.

    Iif you listen to the engine, he was still accelerating the length of the front straight, not letting off the gas till into corner one. He may not be at full throttle, but he was still speeding up. NASCAR has telemetry in the cars that show throttle, brake, rpm, speed and gear selection. Why not just view that data to see throttle position? The sound of his engine down the back straight sounded just like it did down the front straight as well. He even upshifted twice after taking the green.

    1st place is in charge of the restart. if he spun the tires the other cars would had piled into each other and he would had been passed by many. not just the next inside car. rules are rules and 48 team broke the rules and finally got punished for it.

    its not that it doesn't apply, it that there are exceptions to that rule, for example if the leader spins his tires really badly on the restart. Montoya was also in third place going into turn 2. Do you know what would happen if Jimmie just slammed on this brakes or slowed down enough to let Montoya past by the time they got to turn 1, he would be a rolling road block.

  • @webduelist
    @webduelist11 жыл бұрын

    they did, Stewart was pushing Montoya into turn 1 which is the only reason Montoya was going anywhere and they didn't stack up worse then what they did. Also look at other camera angles where Clint Bowyer checked up so hard that it almost took out Brad Keselowski and Jeff Gordon.

  • @StreamwoodExplorer
    @StreamwoodExplorer11 жыл бұрын

    They could've. Without an issue. Bowyer even said in his post-race interview that he had just enough time to "slam on his brakes." It's pretty obvious to tell how much he tried to slow the field down and then, he spun his tires when the RPM's jumped from how low he had them bringing the field down. Shows the race One Pablo is by refusing to go back by Jimmie. Knew there was no other way he would stay ahead of him, guess he played it right, just glad he still got his ass handed to him by Tony

    Why would he upshift twice if he was "feathering" the throttle? Feathering means trying to maintain a speed, rpm is definitely increasing, and increasing enough to require an upshift. The sound of the engine accelerating is near identical to the sound going down the backstretch as well. As for Johnson saying he let up after start line but Montoya would not pass him, it is odd that no one else could manage to pass him either.

I know it's hard to give the position back in Johnsons case, but a penalty is a penalty is a penalty..

    NASCAR penalizing Jimmie Johnson for that restart was a horrible call. Just because Montoya couldn't get going shouldn't mean that Jimmie Johnson should have to let off the throttle to allow Montoya to get traction. Do you think the pack of cars behind them would've let off the trottle if Johnson would have done that? There's an easy way to get hit from behind and put into the wall during the restart. NASCAR needs to think these things through.

    Montoya just did what every other team does. He played the system perfectly. Kudos to him. Chad was telling Jimmie to slow and let Montoya by. He had plenty of chances to do what he had to do to avoid the penalty.

    I guess it's not Johnson's fault he didn't get near the equipment and chassis that Jimmie Johnson has had for all of his career. Give an example in the recent years where a driver in 2nd has gotten away with that.

    You could see that Montoya wouldn't run hard to catch him.

    5 times with an asterisk. He's only a 2 time champion under the old point format. Still a champion though.
