Hendrix was the perfect storm of talent, ambition, blessed with musical gifts beyond most of us, a bit of a loner and being an African American with all that history, musical and otherwise. Like most Aftican Americans, he fed his emotions directly into his playing. No guitarist came close, or comes close to this day.

And now you know why I've been saying listen to Jimi Hendrix for so long. Priceless Reaction. He was the best guitarist there ever was dude. He taught himself, never even had a lesson and they didn't make left handed guitars back then so he flipped one upside down and made it his own. He popped off so many caps on his teeth in concert. I knew you'd be speechless. Jimi was Stevie Ray's Hero. He did everything by the time he was 27 and then passed away from an overdose.

Patti Toole I truly believe a part of Hendrix's spirit lived inside of Stevie. Stevie talks about having a vivid dream where Hendrix taught him how to play a certain part of Voodoo. No one played Hendrix like Hendrix (duh lol) but Stevie sure came the closest to capturing the Hendrix spirit and vibe. You know those two have had some epic jams, wherever they are now!!

Have not heard or seen anyone with that kind of aura before or after him. He wasn't just a guitar player. Most guitarists don't understand that. Stevie Ray Vaughan idolised Jimi & did his best to replicate Jimi out of sheer appreciation & love. All the albums that Jimi made are spectacular. A Giant in the music world. I'm from Australia.

Been listening to Jimi fro almost 30 years. Still get the goosebumps watching his live stuff. I feel the same amazement and excitement as you do to this day. Think the word I'm looking for is being totally in awe. I think it was Eric Burdon who said he met Jimi once at a party and it was weird. While other musicians at the time, Clapton, Beck, Lennon, Dylan etc. seemed like normal guys once off the stage, Jimi was different. It's almost like he lived in that world he created with his music. He was totally out there. He said it was almost like a 3rd encounter of the first kind. lol

Excalibur is exactly right. Perfect word. Those of us who know of the legend that is Hendrix are familiar with his genius. But it's great to see someone who is not familiar with him, seeing him for the first time. I kept thinking "wait until he see's him play with his mouth" and your reaction did not disappoint. 50 years later and he is still blowing people's minds. Now THAT'S some serious mojo.

Hey boss. Kinda fun fact for you since you got your axe and appreciate the guitar... His guitar is a right handed guitar that he flipped over so he can play lefty. All the strings are in the reverse order and inverted. So his brain is such that he can create from that kind of angle.
