met him in 80's at a coaches clinic...all the other major coaches stood at the podium pointing at x' and o's on the screen.... when it was jimmy v's time ....he spoke to the crowd of coaches about everything other than x's and o's .... life....i remember one great thing he said : IF YOU CRY, THINK AND LAUGH IN A DAY - THATS A FULL DAY ....

every time I go back home (to Raleigh), I go to Oakwood Cemetary, he is buried right across from my Dad, Grandmother and mom ...and I know my dad (who went to State) is so happy!!

I grew up a diehard UNC fan. I hated State but when they were in the championship I secretly pulled for them. It felt right. I was so happy they won. I always liked Valvano.
