That's s fantastic looking skiff. The stain work on the interior contrasts perfectly with the paint job on the exterior. The cutout in the back seat is a great idea. Jim did a great job putting this together. Thanks for sharing.

I built a boat during a custody battle full of insomnia. Red oak frames with white oak planking cedar floor seats and foredeck. '71 Merc 9.8 on a 12 footer v bottom. Got full custody also

I build the flats boat by jeff turn out to be easy to build wait ing to get outboard and fish it in the gulf of Mexico

Great looking skiff, I believe he said 3 months to build , but what was the cost ,I’m thinking on building a flats skiff and would like to get an idea on what I’m getting myself into. As I would have to get a motor and trailer into my a budget .

Looks like he omitted the keelson. How would that affect the boat itself / performance / strength / etc.??? or did he just make a floor?

He did not leave the keelson off. He just added a deck over it. No floor timbers on this boat.

It's unfortunate that Jeff Spira's family didn't keep his site up and his business going. Now his legacy hinges on people passing his plans along.
