@@NewWorldCTif anything Jericho is always the one looking out for his opponent, remember when Neville sprained his ankle on that baseball slide and he pushed the ref around to get him disqualified to end the match, I also saw a clip of this one match in wcw where jericho slipped on the lionsault, mr. Perfect put his knees up so Jericho didn't break his neck, I like to think Chris learned a valuable lesson that day

I'd say Chyna wasn't the best grappler or mat wrestler by any means, but she was more of a power wrestler as far as her style. As far as in ring work, she was rough around the edges in 1999 but by 2000 you can see the vast improvement in her work. She moved more swiftly, she did moves more proficiently, and her timing was better.

She ruptured a breast implant during a match in 98 I think it was. Her moveset was streamlined because the extra weight of her body plus the weight of her opponents made it quite dangerous to do certain moves. This is also how she ended up with breast implants named after her, the Chyna 2000's. These new implants were specially suited to female bodybuilders etc. As she slimmed down and started fighting smaller guys, her moveset opened up and she transitioned from a powerhouse into a more athletic opponent.

Chyna was a powerhouse who was entertaining to watch and who knew how to wrestle. Her matches just like anyone elses depended on whom she was put in to work with. Not every wrestler wanted to wrestle a woman because of the certain mentality like Mankind replacing Chyna in a match because of Steve Austin not wanting to lose to her. The ones who got over their egos and allowed to go back-and-forth with Chyna was easily noticeable by how well she performed. She only got better with time and her match against Masahiro Chono is by far one of her best physical matches.

Hmm, I'd love to hear JR's opinion on Nyla Rose being the AEW womens champion or just being involved in the womens division in general. Would people in the wrestling world be as supportive of a woman who identifies as a man entering the mens division and winning the mens title? I respect that he stands by what he believes in, but he doesn't seem to have a case for his "its not believable" statement and it's more likely that it just comes from an old school mentality of that generation. It's a choreographed entertainment so anything is possible since it's not real, and even in real life the idea of a woman beating up a man is very convincing depending on who is involved. At that time Chyna was more jacked than Jericho and she also presented her character as being dominant whereas Y2J dressed very feminine and threw fits like a toddler as he has continued to do most of his career, so based on 90's era mentality, who looked more dominant in that feud from a viewer standpoint? Chyna. Put Ronda Rousey in a UFC fight with James Ellsworth and tell me it isn't convincing that a woman can legit beat down a man.

It's not even about "believability" and is more about eroding the legitimacy of the presentation. Like even in sports where there aren't weight classes, and people of various sizes compete against each other, even where there is no direct contact, men compete against men, and women compete against women, even in stuff like figure skating and extreme sports and whatnot. Like what good can come of it? Gonna have a man win the woman's world title? Gonna have a woman win the men's world title? It doesn't lead to anything, and it is just uncomfortable to watch, unless you are pretty messed up.

I don't know if it's "behind the times" when they haven't had them in so long, at least in wwe, and shy away from even having heels hit the women (the have a lot of the reverse though). I suppose some might consider it "behind the times" to actually state it aloud, though, god forbid. It is dumb for the same reason it would be dumb for 14 year old boys, who could beat the crap out of women, to be defending world titles against grown men. I don't mind them having situations where a male hits a woman or vise versa because I think it's an easy way to get a reaction and can be used for certain angles. I think the worst example of intergender rmatches is the tag team matches, in which current matches involve the ref akwardly forcing a tag when the two active men in the ring are opposite genders.

It's fine to have your opinion JR. and it makes sense but ONLY because culture for so long has treated women as weak. People sometimes live up or down to expectations. Have the same high expectations of them in wrestling, and they'll either earn it or wash out, but the ones that earn it stay and eventually you get a bunch of women that fight snuggly. They might not be pretty anymore, since living the same life as men, means having all manner of physical and mental scars. But that's the cost of living that hard.

Jericho ran around throwing temper tantrums on the show and dressed very feminine and even wore a scarf with no shirt many years later and he's small. In a sport of 'manly men' who are supposedly meant to be beefed up and jacked up Y2J doesn't even come close, so Chyna going over on him for the IC title was completely believable even for a combat sport theater show. My only complaint about the first ppv match they did is Jericho got way too much offense in and made Chyna look weak.
