I don't get why Ron Simmons didn't get the push to be a WWF/E champion. Vince McMahon didn't do justice with Ron Simmons.

I hate to say it and be “that guy,” but is it a race thing ? The WWE doesn’t necessarily take a lot of black wrestlers very seriously for whatever reason 🤷‍♂️ (To be fair, some black wrestlers like Booker T get a major push)

I guess The Rock becoming this global phenomenon don’t count? He is black, Bobby Lashley black, and he always has Samoan champions so race is not an issue and hasn’t been for sometime. Farooq was never a main event draw, so just because he was black put a title on him? Hell no it has to be good for business. I guess Apollo Creed, Shelton Benjamin, and the new day deserves belts now? Hell no 😂 u see Trick Williams is NXT champion, I don’t care for what they are doing with Melo as he got to the main roster but WWE is always built on gimmicks. Mfs gotta learn how to perfect the gimmicks and get over, Dusty Rhodes wore polka dots and he got over without a championship run back when he was lit in the south. They gotta do the job a bit better.

I'll never understand why WWF dragged their feet presenting a black world champion. Vince brought in Muhammad Ali, Lawrence Taylor, Mike Tyson, Aretha Franklin, Mr. T, etc for high profile appearances. Why not create an influential black superstar...

So I guess The Rock don’t count? Y’all gotta stop the cap. Rock daddy was a black wrestler/ champ so what if he’s mixed, he’s black. He was in nation of domination as a black man, he will tell u he’s black/ Samoan so we gotta stop this race run. Mfs gotta be lit like rock was and u will get the push. Hell they even let rock copyright his name and not stone cold. So if that don’t show u race don’t matter I don’t know what to say. 😂

Nobody would mind Ron Simmons making racism accusations today. They would get mad that he lost his title shot.

Vince had no confidence a black wrestler could draw. Plus, wrestling is a good ole boy sport anyway. No one wanted to lose to a black man. That translated over to how HHH treated Booker T.

I think people are complaining too much and trying to create issues where there are none in general but I didn't like the way they treated Booker in that feud. He should have gone over if only for a brief run and at the very least it should have taken two pedigrees.

Farooq would have been a great champion and would have enhanced the APA.

Exactly. It's a scripted sport. You can have a very good career on athleticism alone but it's not just about that. Plus the best football/soccer players are mainly white.

Let's talk about how Ron Simmons came in as a hired gun and formed a group of Uncle Tom's all hired to Bury Ahmed Johnson as Simmons was the jealous Black Champion of the other promotion that only got there because of a lawsuit and wouldn't be remembered today if he did not do the hit job for Vince so he could put the Title of First Black Champion on the Golden Hawaii Boy.
