Jim Riggs at the Wurlitzer "Home In Pasadena" Duet
Музыка
This Phantom Duet is hot, hot, hot! Just listen to that piano travelling all over the place in the third chorus! One of the catchiest foxtrots around (written by Harry Warren, no less) and Adam Carroll's Ampico arrangement sounds like it was just made to be paired with the Mighty Wurlizer. Plus, it's unbelievably fun to play!

I am 13, and I dream of the day I'm able to play this.

I hope you were able to keep up on that dream, we are both the same age at this point, and I have been playing the theater organ for about two years

Now you're 19, can you now play this?
I *love* this song! Out of all the arrangements I’ve heard, this is *the best* arrangement/performance!
A wonderful addition, placing a chorus of "Little Grey Home in the West" in the middle section.
It sounds like I'm watching a vintage movie.
I just learned that Jim passed away October 3, 2023. He is already missed.

Yes, last October 3 2022.
I'm in music heaven. I love Jim Riggs duets.More please!!! Every time I hear a theater organ, it reminds me of the glorious organ in the old Chicago Stadium. I hope it was rescued!
A "to die for" performance. I love it! DVD PLEASE!
Such a delight, Mr. Riggs! I grew up i Pasadena and have been singing this fabulous song for years. My dad was an organ builder (Bob Eby) and we had a huge theater organ in our house. I so miss hearing him play. All the best! Cat

good words you send....my father had a piano.....
I still love this video, Jim. Hope that you continue to produce them. Best wishes . . . .
Super excellent with very good interesting video
Truly inspired. The player piano plays a delightful obligato to the very competently played WurliTzer.
Love these duets!!! Two of my favorite instruments!!!
I heard you play once at the Paramount in Oakland. I was a magical experience. I bought your CD, but neglected to get you to autograph it. It is one of my favorite recordings.
Still love this video. I ended up learning to play and was a church organist in an Anglican church for nearly 7 years! Not like theatre organ but I did my best to simulate Console Up! and Console Down! for my improvized Preludes and Postludes.
Congrats! You're the first to notice "Little Grey Home..." Clever interpolation, that. The organ is in the Little River Studio outside Wichita and is, I think, the finest studio style Wurlitzer on the planet.
I know Paul, the museum and that charming little (style 200) Wurlitzer well! Those two-manual, double rail consoles are SO pretty, especially the French style! Who would have thought such a nice instrument lived in the Cornish wildlands near Liskeard? Thanks very much for your comments!
An absolutely wonderful combination! The best of both worlds. Adam Carroll is always great, and this duet really rocks. Great imagination Jim! More please!
yess ...always good,to hear such "icehockey"music....i love it so much, because true ...(first sint.)ime always shiffering..
Thank you sir. That was a beautiful performance. It must be difficult for a real human being to accompany a piano roll machine and keep up with it . My grandmother was born in 1898 in Queens NYC and played piano in the local movie house as a teenager. That's a beautiful skill that you have !
Jim, These videos are so much fun and sound so great! I've been an admirer of yours for some time. I really enjoy my CD of your playing at the Paramount Theater, Oakland, CA. Seeing and hearing you play here...Superb!
Excellent 😁
My, this lovely duet made me smile :) well played. Absolutely delightful. Great arrangement on the Ampico too.
Cannot wait for the CD of this music. Thanks Jim...and Mike for the fine Wurlitzer! tld
What a unique sound, mixing piano and organ. That organ makes me want to go to a baseball game!
Totally charming piece, and very sympathetically accompany by "Mr. Pugh". Great Ampico roll, too! Just a hoot throughout. To quote a friend, "Perfect!"
Thank you sooooooo much THAT IS SWINGING MUSIC ......... wonderful!!!!!!
Great combo, love it!
I had this on my player piano at one time it was double cut. Thanks for the great post.
Eto ocheshuenno!! 👍🏼
Please post more. I remember being on holiday in Cornwall when I was 12 and hearing for the first time an Ampico roll recording and little model F WurliTzer at Paul Corrins Music Museum, separately though. I was bowled over by both then, and the way you have brought the two together is fantastic. Thank you.
Wonderful!
I hear this guy live! He is great!
FANTASTIC!
Top marks, MORE videos PLEASE.
Marvelous!!!
beautifull stineway and wurlitzer!
Very nice!
memories of the Temperance 7!!
FANTASTIC!!! What a wonderful idea these Phantom Duets are! We MUST have more please - these give so much pleasure. I love how 'Little Grey Home in the West' was slipped in. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this. Is that organ 'at home'? Looks like it's in someone's living room or am I mistaken. Please tell us more.

I wondered what the song in the interlude was.
Is my first prize an all-expenses paid, round trip from the UK to the US to have a go on that beauty?? Ha! Ha! I suppose you know that the interpolation is often referred to as 'Little Grey Hole in my Vest'!! Happy playing. Is there a roll around of Percy Grainer playing 'Country Gardens'? I'd love to hear a duet of his personal arrangement of that...
And this only has 68000 views.
WOW
Fantastic, years ago i heard a recording of 12th st rag, and starlight, in the same style, does anyone have this?...thanks Jim .
you are very good! i wish i could just go and play a wurlie when eva i want!lol where is this one ?
How can i buy this CD?
Alas, the Stadium Barton is gone. After its removal to AZ in the late 90's (and while the huge console was stored elsewhere) a warehouse fire destroyed the entire works of the organ. Ironically for me, that fire also destroyed the very first Wurlitzer I ever heard or played. Sigh...
Woderful - 5*****
not enough pianos in my opinion
Where do you live?
Should not have made that thump at the end.
