Looking at the 'current' team, there's already loads of academy players in the 1st team squad, shows how good we do with youth - Mainoo - Garnacho - Kambwala - Rashford is from the academy - Mctominay is from the academy - Forson That are 5 from that 6 that was all in the same match day squad together last week against Liverpool Then you have Amad, who yes we bought as an 18 year old but was playing more in the youth team before we sent him on loan We progress youth into the 1st team way more than most top clubs

We've been run like a circus for long enough spent money on players who haven't quite cut it on obscene wages , We've had no proper infrastructure on footballing operations on and off the field. If you employ people who are there to merchandise the club and not to run it how it should be then it will just continue . @@LACHIEBART0N can’t give you an all encompassing answer, but it comes down to two main factors in my opinion: 1. Football is harder for advertising than other American sports like the NFL and NBA. The corporate side of things had leaned away from it because of that. 2. It lags behind basketball (and others) as the easiest and most affordable sport to access/compete in grassroots levels. The infrastructure doesn’t exist in the states to the extent it does in Europe or South America. To play a good quality level from a youth academy age and beyond requires a different path than almost every other country. And that is expensive.

@@punctualwizard I appreciate the real detail and I really understand the predicament and thanks for the response. I am from Australia and see the exact same thing going on here. The media is obsessed with rugby, rugby league, AFL, and cricket. No/the smallest coverage of football for decades... football has gone by the wayside in media coverage. And somehow football is considered a B/C grade sport. Embarrassing considering the money and global interest attached to football. A very puzzling situation.

I'm Canadian and have no special love for the US, but if European football was culturally seen as the same level as baseball or basketball, they would be a serious force on a national stage and the MLS wouldn't be a joke. Any sport that the US takes seriously they do well in. 300m people, a sports crazy nation, and more money than you can imagine behind facilities and institutions. If you took a quarter of the professional athletes from basketball, baseball, American football, hockey, and trained them from a young age into football players I think they would be a much more serious force. And I think as the popularity of the sport continues to grow in the US we will see more of this. For example the US women's team historically has done very well because 'soccer' was apparently seen as more of a girls sport in the US for a long time.

Two center backs, another striker who is experienced, and a top class 6 who can foul clever destroy and spray passes, and continue the clear out, maybe a couple of solid free transfers, we all know what we need to start a building process, so it's not hard to see that, we just need to balance the squad to start, wee are stacked in loads of positions and just empty in others, just a clever summer and we can be in top 4 next year

Height is a combination of genetics and health. That's why see certain countries like china and korea produce shorter footballers. Look at their squads their mostly below 5'10, (i'm not trying to act like an expert and say I'mbeing factual but if you look into it you'llsee what i mean). I can't remember where i heard this i went on a binge of Matthew Walker sleep specialist, Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and a few more podcasts and it came up. I do remember Dr Walker pointing out sleep is a massive factor in health so sick children won't grow to be as tall as people who were healthier as children. Like myself I've always been very ill I'm 23 years old and 5'9 and my Dad is 6'0, my brother is 16 years old and about 5'11, 3 of my uncles are mostly over 6 foot. ( 1 on my mams side and 2 on my dads) and one uncle is the same height as me and one uncle is shorter than me. It's very interesting how height works it's strange.
