Whatever “side” you’re on, you can’t support this kind of snide, frankly repugnant arrogance from your elected officials. Full disclosure, I would probably consider myself some kind of “leftist,” like Taibbi and Shellenberg would likely identify, but the last few years have drastically shifted the meaning of what it means to be right or left, and whatever you believe, the most important thing is to stand for true freedom - something the modern left seems have not only forgotten, but is actively trying to destroy.

Yeeeeeah, NAH! It's really not nearly as important as the right is making it out to be, it's not even close to being a smoking-gun, it's largely just an over-hyped nothing-burger. Taibbi and Shellenberger have shown very questionable motivations in their careers, and this is just another very warped interpretation by them. While there have been a few genuinely concerning findings, their reporting is marred by omissions of context, hyperbole, and largely discredited by instances of out right lies. Were there mistakes made by Twitter? Absolutely, but let's not overlook what a difficult job it can be, as any professional in the field will attest to. Did officials question content being allowed to be posted? Yes, including Trump trying to censor a mean tweet about him (The Twitter Files omitted that, though, apparently Elon didn't supply those emails. Interesting.). Did Twitter censor Republicans more than Democrats? Nope, the algorithm was proven to favor and boost Republicans more than Dems, and let's be honest here, Republican ideas (Qanon, Trump, Covid, election legitimacy, Russian disinformation) have objectively outweighed the stupid shit from the Left in number and potential danger. Did the FBI flag content for Twitter to examine? Yup, as they should, there are many bad actors in the world trying to influence the public with false information, which has been proven. And, the government reimbursed Twitter for the time it took to review flagged content. Did the FBI direct or order a private company to censor content? NOPE. To the contrary, what the files show is that the FBI would occasionally (not very often, frankly) use reporting tools to alert Twitter to accounts that potentially violated Twitter’s rules, accounts that the FBI believed could be bad actors looking to spread disinformation that could negatively effect the U.S.. When the FBI did so, it was pretty clear that it was just flagging these accounts for Twitter to review, and had no expectation that the company would or would not do anything about it. In fact, they are explicit in their email that the accounts “may potentially constitute violations of Twitter’s Terms of Service” and that Twitter can take “any action or inaction deemed appropriate within Twitter policy.” That is not a demand. There is no coercion associated with the emails, and it certainly appears that Twitter frequently rejected these flags from the US government. Twitter’s most recent transparency report lists all of the “legal demands” the company received for content removals in the US, and its compliance rate is 40.6%. In other words, it complied with well under half of any "demands" for data removal from the government. And, wouldn't you know it, the government never punished or prosecuted Twitter for not following these supposed "demands/directives". Can we really be that upset with a private company being cautious about allowing potentially dangerous misinformation that could cause Americans to make bad misinformed decisions? It's a private company, who are entitled to censor content not fitting their core values, and there were some things they didn't feel comfortable with, which IMO is pretty understandable. Some people feel a responsibility to not be a tool to those who want to purposefully spread damaging disinformation. This is not a free-speech issue, this is a private company, not the government. The only people making a giant deal of this, are questionable publications (to be nice).

I mean the MAGA cult that did not hear anything new from Jordan other than self-gratification of Jordan himself and voyeuristic gratification by the base. Even FOX does little with those hearings. Watch the videos on their KZread channel. Being the channel of MAGA (we can now safely say that after the revelations from the Dominion lawsuit) you may expect them to broadly broadcast any revelations from said committee. Hack, they did that even when there was nothing to reveal from Durham and they did not do it when there was something to reveal from Durham (but admittedly bad for Trump). However, they are able to take part in certain other House activities. Non-voting members may vote in a House committee they are a member in, and they can introduce legislation. There are currently 6. Rank is assigned by how many terms served prior and the starting date of the most recent continuous service. Where members have served the same number of terms and have the same date of service, they are arranged alphabetically by last name. Rank is basically the same as seniority at regular job.

It's one thing to request things be taken down from twitter & it's entirely different to extort, coerce, pay compensation or quid pro quo tactics to take stuff down.

I'm glad everyone could show up to hear what problems are really going on. If everyone showed up for these hearings, maybe everyone would be on the same page. It's no wonder no one knows the answers in question. The people in charge of these Departments should always know what's going on. Fire them and deplete all these useless departments. They can't answer the questions to their jobs fire them.

They won't answer the questions and point their finger at someone else, hoping to get these guys of their backs. They need to be sent supeonas and held in contempt of court & Congress for not answering the questions. SO...The question is WHERE ARE THE SUPEONAS, and when are they going to court to enforce them?
