I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know about that little rope. I’ve watched wrestling for 50 years. But in this match at one point I saw Punk playing with the one in his corner and I thought, “Oh!”

@@joshuaDstarks I still remember during the elite versus dark order and hangman match, Kenny was literally hanging out near the baby face corner for like 3 to 4 minutes. I normally never get bugged by things like that but that one was so egregious that it just blew my mind and really lowered my opinion of Kenny as a wrestler in an already overblown ridiculous match

@@GumshoeStories I have been watching wrestling for 32 years and I always knew about the tag rope but never really knew what it was for until I was older haha. Its really quite obvious too. The length of the tag rope is as far from your corner that you can venture. In WWE it's 18 inches and the reason for that is because in Dallas, Texas there is a rule that the tag rope HAS to be 18 inches. I'm not sure what sporting authority came up with that rule back in the day when wrestling was considered somewhat legit but it has stuck ever since and so because they have to make it 18 inches in Dallas they just use it at 18 inches all the time. I guess i will mention that I watched wrestling for 32 years but don't watch anymore. Its all unwatchable, unbearable, just garbage. NXT was cool and got me back into it but NXT 2.0 ruined that in a hurry.

Punk somehow picks up a win after getting powerbombed 8 times, and also getting hit by a ring bell. However he gets KTFO long enough after a punch from MJF wearing a ring to lose. He just needs to switch up to the shorts again and wrestle like he did in Japan, FCW, and HWA. Hard hitting but elements of old school wrestling. He's a good wrestler, but he just looks uncomfortable/restricted wrestling in pants. His match with Brian Cage is good. Him being a heel in WWE (2011-2013) was his better matches because he knows how to be a villain. 2016 was his peak year as a face. In AEW it started good, but he went back to the deathmatch style and he accidentally drowned himself in it to the point it defines him when he's a really good at working the body. Cornette shits on him because as good as Moxley is, he blatantly chooses not to wrestle purely. If he keeps it in the ring for the most part, he can hang hold for hold and trade heat for heat. I just hope Moxley starts wrestling more seriously like he did in Japan and is his early WWE/pre CZW run.

People don't give Mox enough credit as a tag wrestler IMO. I'll be the first to admit my first exposure to him was his time in the Shield but I stand by the opinion that as part of the Shield he was an integral part of the great tag team wrestling that group consistently put on. So I'm happy to see Mox in tag scenarios and hope they run with Bryan and him with a guy or two as a faction because in tag team and especially trios matches I completely buy Mox's toughness as someone who can convincingly take the heat for a good hot tag. I hope they do more with him in tag scenarios, because I believe some of his best work can be done there.

That's not Jim's fault... Hence his comments about how he's the Shield flunkie & isn't one of the best in the world. At least Moxely is getting the crowd pumped during his entrance by interacting with them and they go crazy for it, isn't that what being a sports entertainer is about? I understand Moxely's style may not be likeable for everyone but sheesh! Jim makes it seems like the man is just complete garbage. Look at his review for the Roman and Reigns match at the rumble, Jim spent like 5 mins of that review talking about how Rollins entrance from the crowd is better than Moxley's, like what was the point of even bringing up Moxely? Moxley, Bryan, and Punk have a history with each other going back more than a decade. It is the ENTIRE reason fans were salivating for the 3 to meet up again in AEW. FTR is 39-9 as a tag team in AEW. They are one of the winnest tag teams in the entire company. FTR was undefeated all year. They have only been off TV like 4-5 weeks total since they started working in AEW. The Young bucks have lost 45-50% of their matches. FTR has won 70-75% of all their matches. Almost every other Tag team except the Gunn Club is about 50% win percentile. Meaning FTR wins the vast majority of their matches, even against the Young Bucks. Only 3 tag teams in AEW are above 50% wins, FTR is one of those 3. There is literally NO OTHER PLATFORM asserting the flat-out incorrect and factually false information about FTR, a team Cornette supposedly enjoys, like this platform. It's not even hard to fact-check. As soon as Croentte says anything about WWE, AEW or any other promotion that is not about what is happening in the ring he reveals total and willful ignorance.

They did the big reveal for WWE disgruntled fans with Keith Lee and the reveal for Indie/NJPW fans with Jay White, so debuting Samoa Joe there would either kill both those debuts or be upstaged by them. Give him a debut solo, with a mike, probably best once this Punk feud is over, putting him against Punk if he is going to be a heel or against MJF if he is meant to be a babyface. Or against Bryant, and they can play slightly more complex caracters. But give him a mike in his debut.

i would've liked this match a lot better if it wasn't for the 10 different endings that should've happened before that underwhelming pin at the end. i was already frustrated that a non-established tag team in Punk and Moxley would get a pin over FTR but at this point, I believe FTR only stays in AEW for the paycheck since there's nowhere else for them to really go and be booked properly. but at least they get to wrestle. and i think they legitimately enjoy working with Punk, at least, just because they have similar old school mentality of wrestling. But finish-wise, i called out several times where the moment should've been the finish. the doomday device, the Big Rig, the pulling of the tights, etc. This reminded me of that scene from the movie Clerks 2 where Randal has that debate about the Return of the King having 10 different endings with that LOTR mark and Ben Affleck (i think) turning around and saying, "Fucking aye." this match had that same feeling. you're ready to accept any of these finishes, but the match keeps going on much more than it should. there really wasn't anything major on the line here except for Punk being able to get at MJF. But this wasn't a title match or anything of that caliber in terms of stakes where people should be doing big kick outs from major moments. I get where they're heading with this but it didn't do FTR any favors. This obviously was for a ratings grab in putting together Moxley and Punk as a tag team. We do know that Punk did put over Moxley for wanting the fans to support him as far as any connection he would have with him. So there's that. But Kingston also is Moxley's friend and Punk had that forgotten one month feud with Kingston but there's no mention of that. I just hope that FTR gets something from all these jobs. But i doubt they will since the Bucks have publicly declared they're looking for tag gold again, which is silly except that most likely they'll wrestle ReDragon once Kyle O'Reilly finishes up with his paternity leave.

I didn't mind them going over. It wasn't anything like a WWE match where the two top singles guys would have no problem with a top tag team. You'd expect Punk or Mox to go over either of FTR in a singles match but it was booked so FTR almost overcame them with their better teamwork, Punk and Mox scraped that win and were selling at the end like two guys who'd taken a hell of a beating. It was almost like they were the underdogs getting the win.

Also I don't understand the hate on a backslap tag. It doesn't bury the ref, if anything it makes them look better because they're on top of it. Finally in the throes of combat when fatigue sets in I can honestly see someone missing a tag and as a tag tactic it's actually smart. You let your tired/worn down opponent shoot their shot at the non-legal guy who now is no danger to losing the match for you, you pick your spot and as soon as your opponent gives his biggest shot to buy time for his tag or to try and finish the match you hit him with your best shot he doesn't see coming. Shield match against Punk, Roman with the blind tag on Mox who backed up to the rope for it, then Mox charges in, Punk thinks it was just a rope attack and gets him up and around for a GTS, bang nails it and no sooner does Mox fall of his knee, BANG! Roman splits him in half with a spear. Punk didn't see it coming but he was exhausted, Mox and Roman look like a good unit because they manipulated Punk and executed a plan, and everyone comes out looking good. Punk, it took two guys and trickery to beat him, Mox he was smart enough to create the tag opportunity and then tough enough to take the big hit to create the opening for his parter, Roman for being smart, picking his spot and getting the win.

I agree with you b/c Mox and Punk weren't an "actual" tag team but FTR is!

What you say about the Bucks is actually wrong. They have said it multiple times that they didn't want to win the Tag titles yet, when they beat FTR. But Tony Khan wanted them to win so they accepted.

Doesn't mean it's wrong, at all...I can tell you I didn't want to punch you in the face, after I've done it, but it's already done...now you have the option to ignore what I did, how I did it and the timing when I did it and you can just believe me and move on because aint nothing you can do because I already did it...lol think about it and it's not that hard to see that your actually wrong in what you say about the hardlies...
