    Christian continues to be one of the best things in AEW, he is glorious as a heel. He's also made the TNT champions worth fighting for. Darby clearly wants to die in the ring before he's 40s. Hell reports are he injured his arm. Christian's angle with Nick Wayne's mother was also funny, but having Nick Wayne lose in the Zero Hour seemed pointless. But we know who is his daddy now. This was a car crash match, but I question how it honors Inoki, of course going on last we knew that Edge was going to appear eventually. Also please for the love of god stop doing 14 match PPV cards that go for 5-6 hours, Tony.

    To me it seemed like Darby was always supposed to get killed on the steps, but Christian had second thoughts about the stairs spot and suplexed Darby on the mat intentionally. You could hear Darby say "AGAIN" and Christian rightfully killed him. It was brutal, but Darby gonna do what he wants to do in his first big show main event in his home town. Considering Darby like's car crashes, Christian made it make as much sense as it could all things considered. You could tell the first half of the match was Christian's contribution. 2nd half of the match it felt like he let Darby do what he wanted to do.

    Darby reminds me of when other wrestlers asked Foley how he took all those bumps.. he said because he's destroying his body.. and so is Darby, And quickly, happy he only wrestles once a week, although maybe he'd learn to be smart if he had a full time schedule

  • @ThisCharmingMan1984

    @ThisCharmingMan1984

    8 ай бұрын

    Yep, but the difference was, Foley had nearly 200lbs on Darby, which at least gave him some slight cushion against all the high risk bumps; he also had the intelligence to know when to eventually stop/cut back on the riskier bumps, and instead work his Dude Love gimmick, which undoubtedly lengthened his career by a number of years. And it still fucked him up, as you can see by the number of health problems he’s had since he retired. But, not only is Darby incredibly scrawny, I doubt he has the personality to pull off a Dude Love-type of gimmick, or the brains to know when to stop taking ridiculous bumps, and work a gimmick; if he doesn’t end up in a wheelchair, because of a career-ending injury he suffers in the ring, he’ll end up in one when he actually finishes wrestling, and all those bumps finally catch up to him. If Darby saved the big bumps for the major matches/angles, that would be one thing; but he does them in virtually every match, which not only further damages his body (and risks serious injury), but it also makes the bumps meaningless, & forgettable, because people see them all the time.

    this is representative of what i don't like most about tony's booking. his stories are poorly developed and the angles are very sudden and feel contrived. it's like tony's adhd forces him to condense six months worth of stories into two or three weeks of programming. mjf and cole went from personal insults to being best friends over night with no build or explanation. tony could have put them in a situation where they have to back each other up but still aren't friends, then the friendship slowly develops and gets tested a few times before the angle culminates, but instead they're immediately life long friends just to they can get cheep pops (seemingly because tony forgot to build up the wembly matches).
