I just stated this on a different clip: people give Paul Heyman shit for being "irresponsible" and "a failed businessman" for losing 8 million dollars on ECW. That 8 million was over the life of Heyman heading the project. As in, loss over years and years. 8 million. Total. Then, I noted that someone tallied about the time where the suggestion of TNA bringing in Paul E. to run the thing that around that time, Dixie Carter had lost 8 million dollars in a single fiscal year. Tracking this, I _joked_ that Tony probably spent that in a month. I was kidding... but apparently, I was apparently re-goddamn-diculously close to reality. That's just lunacy.

A normal employee working a job at an arena, even if it's an AEW detail event that they're picking up in addition to their normal shifts, doesn't see a single penny of that payout. They make their normal hourly wage or they'll make time and a half if they work over 40 hours for the week. That's it. The incentive for doing it is that you get to "see the event for free". The companies keep all of the money.

@austinmarin9334 sure. It I'm looking at an invoice for labor, say 10 construction workers that did a week's worth of remodeling or whatever, and the bill is exactly $10,000.00. I'm calling BS. That's not the true cost. The true cost would be something like $10,367.42. Actual hours worked x the various wages of the workers. I would be suspicious that the company wants exactly $10,000 and the actual costs are probably less with the company pocketing the difference. Doubt it would go to the workers. Probably doesn't matter on an application for a tax credit and the board in NV that reviews these tax credits probably rubber stamps them because the casinos bring in the real revenue for the state. But I guarantee that the talent costs weren't exactly $2,000,000.00.

As ridiculous as the numbers may seem, the reality of AEW and Tony Khan is that he really just doesn't give a f*ck about how much anything is. I mean, he's a multimillionaire with "successful" businesses that pump out tens of millions yearly, on top of being the son of a billionaire who seems content with having his money spent it whatever fashion because he wants his son to be happy...or out of his way. Even though Tony should really care about his own talent taking advantage of him for a fat paycheck with minimal returns or his own shows and reputation crumbling around him, the ugly truth is that as long as TK has the money to support AEW, this is just the way it's gonna be.

Nevada (or at least Vegas) requires you to use union stage hands and technical staff etc for productions even if you use your own crew and just have them to supervise. So that increases his cost. I recently rented a compact in SF LA and Vegas and the average cost per day was 75 USD. so I can see how the rental cost would be high. Tony really needs to control cost but I guess as long as Papa Shad's money maker keeps printing cash he doesn't care.

To be fair, and I’m not trying to be cause… AEW. This is film and TV credits. When you fill out these tax incentive forms it’s in your favor to embellish your costs most of which you aren’t really incurring. For example “camera rentals” “led boards” etc which is quite pricey… a lot of ongoing productions own those and are renting from an internal rental company same with catering etc and then charge them off as an expense when they were paid off months ago to the networks on budgets and tax incentives. It’s how reality shows do it to which is how I know this. The rentals are shuttles for crew, cast and gear -not vacation rental cars, the stage hands- that’s the teamsters -it’s a union city so you have to use them…. For most shows if you really got into it, it’s MUCH less than they are claiming. They want the salaries to be high because Nevada can tax them and you qualify for more incentives. The songs rights wouldn’t be claimed on this form. But they want to make it seem much bigger for anything. It’s how reality shows make a profit just through product and they don’t have a “gate”, merch etc.

@@nathandts3401A lot of us here don’t like that billionaire owners get taxpayer money for stadiums. It shouldn’t be legal but for whatever reason, judges have deemed it ok. Kansas City is the most successful team the last half decade and their populace just voted against giving the owner money for stadium renovations.

There’s two options: 1) AEW is inflating numbers to get to some minimum level for the described tax credit. 2) AEW is spending ungodly amounts of money in the most unproductive fashion imaginable. Catering being $50,000 is highly suspicious unless they’re including all meals purchased over the course of the weekend. Is in-house security hired by AEW? If so, how is it possible that they are spending half the rent amount of the MGM arena on security for the building. $10,000 I could understand for two nights but 6x that amount? Utterly insane

What would you know about catering, buddy? Do you work in the catering business? Do you know how much 1 plate would cost you to put food for just one person in weddings or other functions? Let's say 1 plate would cost you 100 And you have 400 guests ( wrestlers and aew in ring crew and other staff) 100 × 400 = $40,000
