    Studio Wrestling. Here, in Pittsburgh, it was cardboard cutout crowds, three ringside Rosies, and Pittsburgh talking head Bill "Chiller Theater" Cardille as announcer. Of course it was Bruno . . . a lot of Bruno* in those days. I sat and watched on a 9" screen in the basement, because my English teacher mother was no fan of "violent content". *And George "The Animal" Steele, Dominic Denucci, and, if we were lucky, "Professor Toro Tanaka", prime heel of the ages. Yep--it was epic battles of good against evil, and the occasional eating of turnbuckle pad excelsior like popcorn . . . back then, Rashke's Claw was the shizzle.

    Congrats to Jim on 300th episode. Great entertainment and information. Wasn't really a studio per say but my dad and I attended the WWF TV tapings in Allentown every three weeks in the late 70's early 80's at the small Ag hall. Remember being there over four hours paying like $4 to get in. Saw a lot of history there. We would get general admission and after awhile it was the same people sitting in the same place each event like a club. Great memories with my dad. Even saw Piper hit Snuka with the coconut.

  • @futureparagon3746

    @futureparagon3746

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sorry I wasn’t clear, my question is which angle was NXT vs NXT UK, i felt that Imperium invading was more of a debut than a declaration of war between brands. Then I thought perhaps you were referring to the brawl at the end however it seemed that NXT guys were brawling with NXT guys as well. So which is the segment you were referring to?

  • @KayBearYT

    @KayBearYT

    4 жыл бұрын

    Future Paragon I was referring to the Imperium invading Kushida's match. I doubt it's a permanent move because Walter wants to stay here in Europe so he doesn't have to travel to usa and he can work in nxt uk, progress and his og promotion WXW. wxw and progress are wwe affiliated promotions in uk and germany so wwe allows it of course plus i imagine nxt will soon become a touring brand like raw and sd which is exactly what walter doesn't want. it's more likely to setup a nxt vs nxt uk programme for war games and maybe stretch to wrestlemania weekend so we can have the dream match of imperium vs undisputed era

  • @futureparagon3746

    @futureparagon3746

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@KayBearYT Ahh I see, you're predicting that was the beginning of an NXT vs NXT UK program based on Walter's desire to live in Europe, meaning it can't be a full time move, however it being an NXT UK vs NXT feud is just an assumption. It could just be a feud with Kushida for a couple weeks, or even leading to a war games match, but it doesn't necessarily have to be NXT vs NXT UK, I imagine that Pete Dunne could be on the other team. It would make a lot of sense to have it be a Brand vs Brand match though, regarding Undisputed Era vs Imperium, I suspect that will take place at next years War Games when Undisputed Era have no titles, Imperium goes over and Undisputed Era goes to Raw or Smackdown.

    I know this might be unpopular, but I'm glad there's no blood in WWE anymore. It looks cool, but, just like concussions, we know a lot more about blood infections. Undertaker almost lost his arm to a staph infection. These types of illnesses were common because you had open wounds in an environment full of bacteria - not to mention all the diseases you can pick up. While wrestlers have to get blood tested in certain states, they could make a bad decision and contract a disease after the test and before the show. It's just not worth the trouble.

    What I have learned since 2016: If you are called a cis-gendered white male, it usually means you are hated by the Woke Left. Nowadays, that is a good thing. As for Cornette's contributions and opinions, it is fascinating how much the man has done with the former. As for the latter, I don't agree with everything he thinks but I am glad he doesn't have the rose colored glasses when it comes to things like AEW (especially when it comes to sacrifices millions on no-name talent vs $5M to CM Punk). He is definitely worth listening to while I do my DD2 runs and work.

    The guy puts over Italian Seafood! Along with Chocolate, Tacos, Pizza, and Cheeseburgers the Food on all this planet that sells perfectly and Jim still masterfully sells for it. That I can appreciate on many levels. Was gonna plug Fried Food as well however that's a sore spot for some reason.😏😋B.W.

    PBS just put out a great documentary on Woodstock. Lots of the day to day of the festival and how the community came together when good ran low.

    Well it was actually Brian Last who made the more negative comments about it having no value and billy would of been better taking that money and starting a promotion from scratch rather than nwa baggage . Cornette pondred more on the what the hell billy would do in todays wrestling with the NWA as a group model.

    It looks like Sesame Street is going through tough times! Grover now looks like a "stretched out " version of Elmo! Grover lost his blue fur from all the blood he lost being at those "outlaw mud shows"! Keep on preaching the truth behind all the a$$hole wrestlers who are bringing the industry down! Those who have paved the way are turning over in their graves, giving Cornette their energy to keep on preaching the truth til the industry is saved instead of doomed!

    WAITAMINNIT, Jim, are you sure you didn't mean: "Big Pharma gives you a CURE WORSE THAN THE DISEASE!" cause THAT makes sense and is HILARIOUS considering the insane number of side effects listed in the commercials for these "cures"! BTW The Cure was okay but I was more into Disposabe Heroes of Hiphoprisy back then, them and David Sylvian@

    I do sincerely hope that the NWA show in the studio setting works out. But having started watching wrestling in 1977, and seeing how the business and the in-ring product has changed so much since then, it's just hard for me to imagine the new studio show having an old school feel to it. Here are a couple of thoughts relating to this. Regarding the interview segments, I personally think that instead of having them conducted in the ring, they should be done off to the side in front of a back drop like in older times. When a wrestler is interviewed, all of the on-camera attention should be strictly on the wrestler with nothing else shown to distract from him (and the mic guy should especially be aware of this). In contrast, in modern times when a wrestler is speaking on the mic inside the ring, the background shots of the crowd can and usually do distract from the wrestler (signs, fans trying to get attention on-camera, etc). That shouldn't be happening here, and that's where the back drop for the interviews would be very helpful. Also, quite honestly, it would sure be nice if the fans wouldn't do those modern ECW style chants during a match in the studio show. To me, this takes away from the feel of trying to take the match seriously. Just my own thoughts on all of this. This show should have a very distinctive feel to it that isn't like other wrestling shows.
