What an absolute treasure Jim Carrey is. There is no other like him. This man has the ability to transform himself into a living cartoon. His smile is so genuine and bright that it alone makes you love him. This was filmed in 2004. It is now 2022 and Mr. Carrey just announced that he will be retiring. Although I am extremely saddened I am also extremely happy for him as he has given us soooooo much in the way of happiness and laughter making all of our lives so much lighter. Thank you Mr. Carrey and god bless.

@Gary Snow there's a good chance that he was exaggerating here. This was held in 2004 but Jim was most likely referring to his career in the early 1980s. While Jim was making headlines for his stand-up act in Canada, he had a hard time being noticed in the U.S. He auditioned for SNL in 1980 but didn't get cast. Trying to do stand-up on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show was the big thing to do for comedians at the time and Carrey at first had a hard time getting booked. When he finally got booked and performed, his career didn't skyrocket into the stratosphere immediately like he had hoped. He did a TV show that got cancelled after only 13 episodes and some of the movies that he got cast in were only made for T.V. and not released theatrically.

It blows my mind that a lot of the best actors come from stand-up or sketch comedy. Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Robin Williams, Damon Wayans, and the list just goes on and on.

He's so moved here.. almost overwhelmed by his emotions, and yet so skillful, able, and clever in managing his speech.. waw !! ❤ ❤❤

Jim Carrey... this man is a rock star... a comedic legend... so many great films he's made and his incredible talent for comedy in movies is evident.. he brings every character he plays to life and leaves quite the impression on you... you see Jim Carrey for the first time in a film and you will never forget him and his performance... He is the Denzil Washington of comedy films and performance.

He is a highly intelligent person too. I think most great comedians are way above average intelligence. Seen a couple of his serious speeches and thought... Wow! That was quite insightful and deep.
