He's right. I had been fighting suicidal depression, it is because I cared what other people thought of "me the character." Stop being a character, be in the now, no more worries. Love it!

I agree with much of what he said here and has said in other interviews, but I don't fully agree with the "nothing" aspect. Temporal yes. A phase shift or wave cresting yes, but there is meaning and purpose behind it. We as Souls, before this life, either choose and/or agree to certain probability streams and experiences for various reasons (as well as create experiences by exercising our will), but all at there core for Soul growth. It's true that Hollywood, fame, money, etc is not important at all, and that one's personality is not completely real since a lot of it is tied in with the body and the influence of this world and of collective human consciousness (which is not who and what we truly are), but we also have individuality which is of the Soul and Spirit--and that is eternal and very real. How real? So real that the Source that created us, rejoices in our unique identity, self expression, and ability to choose, because WE and our existence are what ended It's unbelievable loneliness, as the Source spent a long time, before there was time, being all alone unto itself (try to imagine thinking to yourself for what seemed like an eternity, before you hit on a plan to create real companions and self express). Carrey is finding wisdom and has gained some, but he has not reached the zenith. The zenith is complete attunement to pure Love and Source Consciousness, which is within and waiting to be tapped into by any and all. To some extent, Carrey is still living in his head, still a bit too cerebral. The heart and the head have not fully merged yet, though he is starting to integrate them. To some extent, he is repressing emotional pain/trauma, which is why he has taken up the philosophy that nothing is truly real or intrinsically important.

This kind of confirms what I have wondered about character actors who immerse into character after character, and become other people to the point that they lose who they are, convincing themselves and others so well that they can't get back. One step beyond. Weird, for sure, and kind of dangerous too. The mind is a powerful thing.

Can't wait to see this. Carrey's journey is fascinating from a psychological perspective, but I think he's stunted in that he's trying to be too self-aware. He's too busy looking at himself, and seeing there's nothing to look at when you're just looking at the mechanics of you, to just let the oil of the machine flow and let the machine work -- then get new perspective and direction afterwords. It seems like depression to me. Maybe he's bored with the superficiality of the industry and culture he's in and this defense mechanism is kicking in. ...thoughts this moment

I have seen this many times before when people have a spiritual awakening. There is a part of ego dissolution that comes with that process. He's going through it right now, trying to project as much of his knowledge and self awareness of what is happening to him. Unfortunately people are not openly minded enough to understand the language and terminology he is using to have true empathy for the situation. He is coming across as confused, making others feel confused about where he is at. In fact he is being honest. He has awoken spiritually and has realised that he is not his psychological ego, he is in fact a subjective source of consciousness connected to the universe. I wish him well in his awakening.

  • @evangreen3080

    @evangreen3080

    6 жыл бұрын

Daryl Smith I don't think it's necessarily that people aren't open minded. It's either his terminology or the situation that is confusing. Isn't "a subjective source of consciousness" what an ego is? He's more self-aware about it, and that's good, but he may be in trouble if he thinks that one can escape that nature. You don't want to be so "egotistical" that you lose perspective on your effect on others, but also not so egoless where nothing matters and you whither away. No?

I love his message. What I took away from this is his shedding of the ego. we each have one velcroed to our truest selves. Too many people are leading lives for the thoughts of others instead of from their own truest desires. We don't all want to be rich and famous and hot but we want what those things afford us, acceptance, freedom and acknowledgement. He isn't silly or insane. He's profound and thinking on a deeper level and sharing that. Most people would keep it to themselves at his stage of fame. He is raw and honest and desires the truth in life. When I got to that level I had a visitation from Jesus Christ and it changed my whole entire world. I pray that Jim is approached too. God Bless All

While talking about the movies he played iconic characters in he says, "I see something beautiful that rose out of nothing and happened for no one." Okay, I get we're all just a bunch of atoms, but the connotation of saying we're all "no one" makes this entire reality sound irrelevant and meaningless. A bunch of atoms are feeling, thinking, and connecting to other bunches of atoms. That in itself, to me, is pretty incredible.

  • @edoardoCanny

The exact definition of irrelevant is: "Having no probative value; not applicable." Because we are humans with feelings, being called irrelevant generally makes us feel sad. It basically means we're meaningless. This is what I mean when I say the word irrelevant generally has a negative connotation. Regardless of Jim Carrey being nothing but a bunch of atoms, the work he was involved in was still meaningful to me.

It's a self-discovery type of thing that very few people experience, as he says in this video. The universe is like a movie without a director, or a purpose. It just is, and the only thing we get is this moment. Focus on living in it.

it's great that Jim is so open about his depression. It's great to talk about it. People expect him to be like to characters. He needed this role to find himself again. Being a comedian an actor are very different. He is more famous for his characters or roles he has played or created. We are trying to find out who we are. In this social media, instagram world I find myself comparing my life to others. It can be depressing when your life seems to suck in comparisons to others. Life is short, do you chase what you love to do or expect a minimum wage paid job and live paycheck to paycheck.

My thought on even love changed for the better from a quote from him on Oprah with Jenny McCarthy. Look it up. He's an amazing actor, but now he's open about what I saw so many years ago. What an interesting person. Groove on Mr. Carrey!

I don’t know if Jim should associate himself with these guys. They have this air of pretension, the smirks on their faces, their countenance, arrogant, like they have Jim figured out, got in his head, they think he’s crazy, and exposing a senile old has been. When In fact, it’s Jim fucking Carrey, successful comedian, who brought joy and laughter to millions. He needs to lose the pretentious director and film maker who are just trying to profit from Jim’s depression.

This is a very sad and dark place to be it's in this state of mind where nothing matters that If something bad happens your conscience stops fighting the urge to end your own life, even recognizing how many people you'll hurt in the process has little effect to stop you. I've been here, you tell yourself that no matter even if you could make a great impact in society you'll one day die and be forgotten, you start to give up on life very quickly and become very disconnected, soon you're alone and emotion starts widdling away, the scariest are the brief moments when it dissapears your thoughts urge you to end it before emotion can come back to drive your conscience into forcing you to sticking around...I lived a long time this way, but there is hope..I don't want it to sound like I'm pushing a religion because I know from being on the other end of the spectrum how corny it sounds, but at my lowest moments I called on God I heard a voice more powerful than my own thoughts tell me he was still there, with nothing to lose or gain I gave God a chance to give me peace and he has. I have no reason to argue with anyone. As a former major skeptic of absolutely everything I know how hard it can be to accept a creator in a world that seems such a mess. I have no absolute proof to convince you to believe in him. Only my story of how he spoke spoke life into my hopeless soul, and how I can never imagine turning away from him now.

Alter Ego I'd say maybe religion is indoctrinated, but the peace of god is real, for me at least anyway, I think it's out of a place of spite and misunderstanding that people will call someone who says they believe in God foolish, if you really started to question the fundamentals of existentialism and really became a skeptic you'd eventually come to a place where you start to doubt your own doubts, nothing becomes a total certainty, nothing becomes an uncertainty you'd eventually have to at reason that the existence of god is just as plausible as anything else. I think my biggest proof for god to exist in my life is experiencing his presence. I used to and still do to a certain degree get horrible anxiety because of how bad my existentialism would overcome me. Would keep me up through the night it was like my thoughts were so loud and there was nothing to escape them, and trust me I tried, I've always been an outgoing person on the surface I was in a fraternity trying to find a brief escape from my thoughts in meaningless sex and partying, I quickly realized how superficial it was so turned to this path of meditation and psychedelics tried actually detaching myself from my ego like him carrey is doing, let me tell you, you feel like you're on to something, like you figured it all out, until you realize it's not getting you anywhere, you realize life is slipping you by and how detached and alone you've made yourself aand all that anxiety and existentialism is still there, than more tradegy happened and at a time where I found no purpose for existence I got hit with added pain, and I had no reason to deal with it anymore, I think I was really ready to end my life at the time, but it was also during this time of literally having nothing left to hold onto, I gave god a try and I finally found it. For me god is finally that step out, that place of peace where in his presence I feel like none of the rest matters because because I can experience true serenity, it's pure bliss, and it gets stronger the more you go to him. I get that relegion has caused problems in the world but don't pigeon hole god into a relegion. He's very real he's the peace in my restless soul I've always been searching for but didn't know how to word it. It almost bothers me when people try to tell me he's not fake or I'm stupid for believing in him it's like why would you want to try to discredit what I finally found for myself as solace in this wild world

I love this guy. Im going through something similar but im always cautious not to push too far. It can drain you and it plays with your emotions and it shows. People will automatically jump to conclusions and say depression, stress, sadness, grief etc but its CURIOSITY for me, wanting to know more than life itself. The meaning. Our purpose. Our exsistence and what lays beyond death. Its a risky game to play but if you play well you can live happily loving and spreading the knowledge you have from your own experiences. Morgan freeman, Rusell brand, Jackie Chan, Oprah, Steven Hawkins, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, etc. All these characters and many more are inspiration to listen to; just hear their perception of life.

Jim Carrey has been my role model ever since I was a little kid. And he is my inspiration for wanting to be involved with Theatre and film. The only thing I don't understand is I never really thought of him as like this big goofball type person that we see in his movies. I always just thought of him as this great Charming person with this incredible Talent to be comedic that it could create so much happiness for so many people. I never knew that he was trying to be that big comedic type character that we see in his movies all the time in real life. I hope he doesn't think that he has to be that person that we see in the movies 24/7. Because I always saw them as characters and him having an incredible talent to make a comedic performance work. That's what is so incredible about Jim Carrey to me. Is that in his comedies he can go so far over the top with his performance and still make it work. That's why I think he reaches out to people with his comedies. There's so many comedians in Hollywood that get so carried away with the humor that they go way over the top and it's not really as funny as it should be. I'm just really scared Jim Carrey thinks that he's trapped in his characters for which we all loved him in. But we know that he's not really that character he's just an actor pretending to be the character. I just do not want him to be depressed. he's done so much for the world and brought so much happiness to the World when they are sad. I wish them all the best and I really do hope he's okay
