I among others have a ton of respect for what jim boeheim as a coach and as a person, him and his wife julie have done and continue to do for syracuse in general ,people judge or opinionize jim as a coach but none recognize his contributions to Syracuse university as well the city syracuse as a person

I think public opinion is changing on him, both on his legacy as a coach, and as a public figure. Getting to 2 F4s in the last 5 yrs has done a ton for him, and i think people start seeing how glowingly fellow coaches (or fmr coaches) like K, Roy, Calhoun & others speak about him.

Much respect to coach Calhoun, Uconn was horrific in the 80's, and they weren't called Uconn, just Connecticut. Good trivia: Does anyone know when Connecticut started calling themselves Uconn?...and also their uni's changed to (UCONN), C'mon Huskie fans help an ol' dumb SU fan out.lol

Cuse #44 your seriously gonna discredit one of the greatest college coaches ever for the lack of success the team had before he got there? He got there in the late 80s and very quickly turned around the program into a national power. Also, turned into UConn around the late 90s.

We knew the college as UCONN... local CT kids knew it as that. I graduated high school in 1986. Syracuse and UCONN would play at MSG a lot....alums aplenty there.

lol....Huh? Dude that really made me laugh. I am from there and was around when they played in the old field house in the 70's and 80's. It was always UCONN. The difference is we started actually WINNING! I used to go to the games when I was in high school. I could get a ticket to the field house and go sit right behind the UCONN bench. True story. Calhoun completed one of the greatest rebuilds of a program in college basketball history. He is a basketball savant.

@@freakboy40 It cannot be...I saw them in 81' 82' at the carrier dome - they wore just Connecticut in white on Blue unis. And on the 84' Big East program with Pearl on it same unis, so UConn's unis did not say UCONN from 79'-84', at least not their road unis.

@@freakboy40 Ok think I just solved this trivia, just looked up all of UCONN's programs they did not wear UCONN on their men's unis until 2000, the 98' 99' UCONN teams still wore Connecticut (even in the Championship game Rip Hamilton?) It was actually the Girls team that started the tradition because the full name didn't fit their jerseys (big red U blue Conn) been watching Cuse since 77' I never heard UCONN called UCONN in the 70's and 80's ...not until the 2000's did I notice the change.
