The comparison overall of Trump, his supporters, and their rallies to a WWE wrestler, his fans, and a WWE event is incredibly accurate. The frightening thing is however, that rather than simply being idiots within their own small community who adore "their guy" in the ring...they are idiots with voting power who elected "their guy" to the highest position within the federal government. The mentality, maturity, and general intellect is much the same from a WWE event to a Trump rally. The overlap in demographics looks less like a Venn diagram and more like an eclipse. So much stupid cheering on the even more stupid. It was fine with me when it was contained within the fictional world of the WWE, where this kind of stupid behavior is expected. However, these people have now forced this kind of worldview and childish mentality into the real world, where facts and truth DO still matter. Our culture, until now, has been such that we can mock the person who is president, and he can poke fun at himself or his opponents, or be *personally* informal in some settings (Clinton playing saxophone on late night tv, G W Bush being folksy)... He can even risk poking fun at the citizenry, now and then...but neither the people nor the sitting president, nor his political opponents are supposed to mock the office of president. We are all supposed to have high regard and expectations for the office, even when we don't like the person occupying it. I have to agree. I'm Canadian, I try to be nice, I try to be civil. But Trump and his ilk have me steaming. They are not to be tolerated or coddled. I know most of them are probably learning disabled, or have some form of severe mental handicaps. The sane people laugh at his jokes since we know it's not really news but a comedic parody of the truth , those that believe in him are the ones that have no clue how much the economy has turned around and jobs have come back since that is downplayed on mainstream media and they have no clue of all the muslim riots around the world caught on cell phones on KZread because shows like CNN, Stepen Colbert and John Oliver don't talk about it since it goes against the open border policy Trump is trying to secure. well.. with or without Colbert, Fallon, Kimmel, Corden... or any other individual in media (news or hollywood)... would likely do what intelligent people do.. and continue to compare their sources to several other sources to build a robust opinion behind. People who think that Colbert (and others) drive the machine against trump(little t)... are seriously lacking in critical thinking.
