Frankie Knuckles on percussion, Ben Kenney on lead guitar, Hub on bass and BOTH beat boxers, Rahzel & Scratch! NOBODY can touch that performance of *her* song, at the end of the performances, she purposely dropped the mic and walked off!! SHE/they KILT THAT JAWN!! 🙌🏿 By the way, Jill wrote the song with the Roots, MCA wouldn’t allow The Roots to release the song with her on vocals, they replaced her with Erykah who first blew up two years prior.

The first time I heard this song her voice was sooooooo sooothing. Then when they replaced her vocals with Erykah’s something severely changed and it didn’t sound the same. Jill’s vocals were like warm melted butter melting over notes, whereas Erykah’s were…..contrived to me. I could tell she was trying to imitate Jill’s pocket but she has her own unique sound and therefore it couldn’t quite match it for me. Then I knew they replaced Jill because either her weight or she wasn’t famous yet. But that song would have made her famous back then. Most ppl hear music with their ears not their eyes. I’m so glad Jill is singing it the way it’s was originally written to be sung……LL.By Her❤❤❤❤❤❤
