Almost 9 years later and still her best song. The darkness, the imagery, the ambiance and poetic lines. Darkness is nothing to be afraid of. With light cones dark, embrace and find your balance, hauntingly beautiful.

Qwenton Williams You really think so? Cause trip is very deep to me. The album is about pretty heavy & important subjects. But maybe you gotta be on the same wave/frequency to understand the true depth of the album.😉 The album is basically her stance on death, the afterlife or where we go to when we we die. why we are here on earth etc. But some things you gotta experience before you will be able to recieve the message. The songs on trip are very clearly speaking to the the things Jhene philosophized on and the 'knowledge' she thinks she received during her' trips. Cause I came to the same conclusions as jhene, during a magic mushroom trip. But from an artistic viewpoint she did a great job of conveying the 'spiritual awakenings' she had during her trips.

I been a fan since 010, so i'm pretty confident Jhene isn't going to be well known as Beyonce and Nicki Minaj. I'm glad all you tender heart and beautiful souls out there have finally found someone to relate to that is able to relay delicate and meaningful messages to you in such eloquence and grace; because as much as Beyonce epitomizes what it is to be a strong woman, as much as Nikki Minaj has character or flare, they simply don't reach down to the depths of the soul that wishes to be acknowledged like Jhene Aiko does. Appreciate her. Embrace her.

To answer those who have questions on why this is only on KZread I can answer that. This isn't really meant to be a song because if it was she would've put it on other platforms like she did all of her other music. This is A VISUAL it is MEANT to be watched. Look closely at the video and peep the message in it: there are two different girls one in a white dress and one in a black dress. How can I tell that they are different? Because the way the differently deliver lines. The one in the white dress deliver them so angelic and sweet, the one in the black dress is more sassy with hers. If you further watch the video you can see that the black dress girl ended up switching places with the white dress girl and taking over. I love this vid and once I figured out that this was only on KZread and meant to be seen I started to decode it a few years ago. End of story jhene is the goat.

This song is about a conversation between an angel and a demon or God and the Devil that takes place inside the mind's of people. The name Jhene is a variation of the name Jinni or Jinn which is a demon that is either malevolent or benevolent. The God within every person is unadulterated consciousness or self awareness.

If I'm your reflection Then baby you must be an angel 'Cause when the light, hits you just right One could mistake you for a star That is exactly what you are Better to consider, all, of the good things A glimpse in the mirror, to make sure you are still there Yeah But then the night takes over And you are no where to be found Your face in broken pieces Don't you look down, don't you look down Ashamed I couldn't see this, coming around You're my reflection So tell me why can't you be more clear What's up with all these tears? Can't be regretting, all that you've done And have undone, that shit don't matter here What's up with all your fears? You better consider, all of the good times A glimpse from the mirror, to tell me you're just fine, alright But then the night takes over And there is no one else around You're facing broken pieces Don't you look down

Dinh Phuc Truong What i mean is Jhene is not going to go mediocre to become more well known. Too me, Jhene is not a celebrity, but beautiful singer with a beautiful soul. I been a fan since 010, so i'm pretty confident Jhene isn't going to be well known as Beyonce and Nicki Minaj. Jhene is all about being positive and for some reason people are against that There's a reasons why Jhene says "Sailing not Selling"..

Anyone who knows and understands music would know that Jhene is the goddess of music.. Her voice is so peaceful and always touch the soul
so beautiful, a bit dark.. but I love it. I believe the sadness/negative emotions we feel, serve this purpose. To create/make/extract something beautiful out of it.... the saddest songs are always the ones that hit home.

This song goes out to all my confused beautifully broken Pisces. Who still bring the light to others even when we can’t shine for ourselves ✨
I’ll never get tired of hearing her sultry, siren voice . I’m sure she’s been luring everybody w/ it growing up
Literally woke up from a dream thinking about this Melody I haven’t listened to this song in a so long and I forgot how much I loved it
She's making love with my soul the song and lyrics are completely completed
and NO, she's not a "version" of the Weeknd, she is Jhene Aiko, nothing more nothing less. There isn't a female or male version of her, besides Jhene Aiko herself.

I think this girl went thru alot in her life thats why when she sings she sings with her heart and her soul them words she sings is soo real.thats a real talent bravo more talents like this not some beiber shit
9 years later and still one of her best song the darkness the imagery the ambiance poetic lines lovin' it
She has that voice of an angel
I love the black swan concept of the video....interpretation is amazing
She brings chills in a good way because you can feel her pain and feelings in every word

Takamaru From studying Trip, I wonder if the girl in white represents her innocence, or “Penny,” her true self, while the black dress represents herself outside of Penny. When she’s in a negative state of mind.

This song is about a conversation between an angel and a demon or God and the Devil that takes place inside the mind's of people. The name Jhene is a variation of the name Jinni or Jinn which is a demon that is either malevolent or benevolent. The God within every person is unadulterated consciousness or self awareness.

This is exactly what i was thinking but more along the lines of one loving oneself and then at times deeply hating themselves and wondering where they went wrong, or where they lost their self along the way to be at such a deep dark place.
She's like this generations Sade, incredible
i feel she is very original , and unlike many she has you to actually think what she means and feel her emotions ! Good job. hands down !

I just started listening to Jhene Aiko a week ago when I bought Sailing Souls on a whim and have gone back to listen to all of her music. Sucks to be late to the party but being able to binge these albums has been therapy to my heart. But I tear up every time I hear this song.

Love your voice keep going..i felt your soul in you vs them..
Another thing i enjoy about Jhene is that she has her own style. Sometimes when you hear singers you can hear another artist in there voice but not her. You hear her style and sound. She's amazing =)
Hello from 2022. Still one of her best song
I almost forgot how hard this shit hits me. Especially when I'm going through a tough time. I love it so much :(
This is a very melodramatic song that "like yesterday" I wasn't around then today thinking right " consider all the good times" of mine. Then to look in the mirror. Now Im trying to see how to stop typing . Lovely song DRAMATIC SMOOTH MELODY.
I like how twisted and dark the videos are and how different her style of music is. It's very refreshing. Sometimes I feel like R&D and hip hop artists are afraid of being different.
This song makes me cry the words are powerful and relatable
Loved Jhene since 2002. I'm really glad she's finally getting her turn. Her voice got stronger as well. I love her tatts.
Love her. She deserves much more success
