Which Governor was this? I’d like to contact them and give them a piece of my mind, because that is so not okay. More people need to realize that outlawing free speech and outlawing hate speech aren’t the same thing. I’m so sorry you’ve been made to feel unsafe for being a Jew

@Sammythatjewishnerd - I live in Indiana, so the governor is Eric Holcolm. A few years ago, he did sign a bill into law making hate crimes illegal in Indiana, so this was a 1 off. But still. (BTW- I, too, am a nerd. LOL!)

This is the most real thing I have heard… I am 15 years old and currently learning about antisemitism towards Jews. We are taught about all the Jewish people have been through, yet the hate never ends… I am wearing my Magen David proudly!

Good! You should be proud to be Jewish. Even if you aren’t any type of observant, antisemites only ever want three things in my experience: they want all Jews dead, they want us to be ashamed of who we are, or they want us to be fighting amongst ourselves. Yiddish is not the jewish language, it is a mix of german and hebrew that used to be spoken in eastern europe. Today most of the eastern european jew moved to north america or israel and therefore there is no point to continue to speak yiddish. Jews who were exiled in arab countries also speak arabic, does it mean that arab is a jewish language? No.

In the time of Haman, jews were threatened of being exterminated because they completely stopped doing torah mitsvot, and that is clearly written in the book of Esther. Then they did techuva and were saved. Esther asked them to fast 3 days. That's the lesson of Purim: if Yaakov stops torah mitsvot, immediately Essav will unleash itself from the yoke and try to kill Yaakov. If your wife doesn't dress up tsanua, if you spend your time doing videos instead of studying torah, you're giving sparkles of life to Essav for him to harm us.
