You're an excellent representative of your people. Everything you said is extremely well thought out and I completely agree. First, rudy, this video is amazing and you handle the matter so respectfully. I wish more topics as tense as this could be handled in a similar fashion. Second, as one who is Jewish and favors the conservative side of politics, I find this an eye opening experience. I did not know Ye felt this way. This does not sway my core views on politics, but it does perplex and frustrate me when it comes to a person I originally supported for some of their points of view on recent controversial topics in the US

As a black man who is a Christian I love the Jewish people even tho you don't believe that Jesus is the Christ you still matter in my heart and I consider you family. It was used to identify Anglo Saxxons as white and Africans with dark skin as black. They got lazy, let’s not pretend this matters. Ethnicity is all that matters because it is actually specific as to where you come from/ who you are a descendant of. The thing is that people mix ethnicity and race a lot and it’s all just a confusing mess. Let’s just all refer to where we come from as opposed to how we look.

If someone uses your shade of skin in a derogatory way then that makes their phrase racist. Thats the literal meaning of a racist; Someone who uses skin shade color in a derogatory manner. I like the dialogue that you are having. To be honest I think that Kanye and probably a lot people maybe ignorant to the fact of the way the things he is saying are tropes that were used in the past. I believe he becoming observant of the things around him and is questioning them. I don’t think that he really wish harm to Jewish people but is frustrated and trying to express himself and gain answers. Does it excuse his actions no but I think this will help to get us all to more understanding if we try to hear one another out.

I award you a 10/10 for your good intentions. I just can't see how being a believer or non-believer in G-d merits a mention in this matter. There are many atheists who are and can be inspired by Rudy Rochman's words of rebuttal. It is something of a paradox that the modern State of Israel and its 1948 Declaration of Independence has no mention or reference to G-d.

Why does a unique Abrahamic culture and religion need to beg acceptance from any "authority"? Whilst everyone's identity is incredibly important to each individual, "belonging" comes at a price when it comes to the Orthodox Rabbinate and there's a long process of conversion if one can't prove one's family bloodline and religious practices. Nissim Black is a prominent example of a prominent African Jewish person. I wonder what he says about all this?

Most Igbo are Christians today.

I have a question: Is there a difference between a person who is born of the Jewish race and a person that is practicing the Jewish religion?

The easiest way to understand this question is to see Judaism as being a nation with a national religion. If you were born into it namely if your mother's jewish, you automatically get citizenship. Otherwise you have to convert. If you convert you are a member of the Jewish nation. Not much different than being an american. If you're born in the United States or of American parents, you're an american. Otherwise you have to obtain citizenship.

@Jwill Business Class Online I wrote the following response a couple of days ago, when I saw all of the answers you wrote on my comment. I don’t know why this struck such a cord in you, but that’s your business. 
I thought of letting this go and wish you all the best in life. But then I saw your latest comment from what seems to be the 25/11. So you clearly feel the need for a response. So I’ll give you a response, and that’s the last one. After this I’m wishing you a good and peaceful life, whoever you are. 
I’m not going to belittle the time and resources you have put into your research. I myself have done research in many different fields, I have watched sources that claim the very same thing you claim here. In that endeavour I am so happy my father taught me critical thinking. When it comes to slavery, and I don’t say this to belittle the experience of the transatlantic slave trade, but no ethnic group, country or power is innocent. From the muslim slave trade from Africa and Europe to the Middle East and North Africa , to the mentioned transatlantic slave trade, to the many many instances of taking slaves from nations that have been conquered in war, to the most recent and most well known one Nazi Germany enslaving among others the Jewish and Romani population in Europe. Every people group on every continent is guilty of this one. And for the transatlantic slave trade, everyone who could afford it owned slaves, even people of darker complexion owned slaves, and even people of lighter complexion where slaves in the US, when that was legal. Thank G-d most of the world knows better today then to condone slavery. When it comes to the definition of racism I’m sorry to say that you are wrong. 
There are five bases that make up the definition of racism. 1. The idea that you can sort people into different races based upon phenotypical differences. Phenotype is hair color, texture, the appearance of someones nose etc. 2. That there are traits connected to these phenotypes. Such as intelligence, temperament, interest, skills etc. 3. That these traits are universal for all members of a particular race. 4. That these races order themselves in a natural hierarchy, where one is superior to another. 5. That members or groups of a superior race have the right to exploit, own and even destroy members or whole groups of an inferior race. Now in order for it to be racism, there needs to be a combination of these bases. All people can be racist, if you believe that a combination of these bases are true. 
To be clear I do not, not one of these bases are true to me. To answer your question about phenotypical differences historically and presently, DNA is a complex molecule, inheritance even more so. Just because you have a phenotypical expression doesn’t mean you don’t have a genotypical inheritance. Phenotype, which is what you are pointing to is easy and simple compared to what someones DNA structure is able to contain. Phenotype can be influenced by the addition of different genotypical sources, that is why for instance since Jews have been dispersed to so many places around the world Jews can have such varied appearance, while still all share the same DNA structure in their DNA molecule that identify them genetically as jewish. On top of that you also have converts, who are just as jewish as any other jew. But to get back to the topic of slavery, I see you are very passionate about this topic, and I think that is good thing. There are still countries where slavery is still legal. Many of those countries are found in Africa. 
Maybe that’s your purpose in this world. To help end that, I think that is a good thing to have people help end that nasty business. What I don’t think is a good thing is to come out of left field like this, accosting and barraging someone the way you are doing. Neither me or my family has ever had anything to do with slavery. I am born and raised in Sweden, which you can tell by my name. Now this will be the last time I read or respond in this thread. So I hope you find a better use of your time and do something for the good of this world instead of writing things like this to random people on the internet. Have a good day

Well I’m not “ish” in an Israelite period! I don’t think it’s a one group that’s responsible for what so-called black/African American conditions but it was not for nothing none of these groups helped either. Well said my brother. Ye does not always articulate his words well. This is a problem. I believe he is getting better with age. As a physician who happens to be Black and has been around Jewish people most of my life, I have a great sense of the Plight of Jews. I understand and agree with “NEVER AGAIN “. The relationship between Jews and Blacks is complicated. Ye did apologize for his words. He is not crazy or mentally ill. He may be stressed and should not make public statements under the influence of mind altering substances. Drink Champs is a forum that encourages celebration and should not change. With that said, maybe all Jews and Blacks should come together and discuss our collective history. I am sure Ye does not want any harm to come to Jewish people. He probably has had some bad experiences but he obviously respects Jewish ethics. I hope you reach out to him to begin the CONVERSATION.

Good words. Two things that we have done in my local community are to speak at local public schools about our recent [nonsecular] history both positive and catastrophic, and to invite non-Jewish friends to participate in the Seder. Early exposure to our culture, in addition to assimilation into everyday activities, emphasizes that "we" is all inclusive, while we can also practice and celebrate individual beliefs and cultures.

@M L There is Nowhere in Tanakh or Talmud that a non-Jew is forbidden to attend a Passover Seder. As it says in the Hagadah, *_"This is the bread of affliction which our ancestors ate in the land of Egypt, All who are hungry, let them enter and eat. All who are in need, let them come and celebrate"_* Please show the place in the Torah, talmud, Shulchan Aruch or Hagadah that non-Jews can not join a Seder meal.

@M L It is not forbidden, all my cousins are Orthodox Rabbis in Brooklyn, Argentina, Canada and California. There is not one that says it is against Torah or Talmud. We don't inspect Penises before a Seder dinner. They can come to a Shabbat dinner, which Shabbos is more Important than a Passover Seder. Again, show where in the law this is forbidden!!!

We don't follow Exodus 12:43 Today, the Greeks cook a whole lamb outside on a fire, are they the Real Israelites?

Wow, just watched this and then the Whoopi Goldberg video. I am not Jewish, but I thought I understood more than I clearly did until I watched these videos. It is amazing how you stay so level headed and mature and purposeful and present your education by addressing each person’s point and how it is not yet well informed. It is also amazing that you really try to look deep into what you think each person was actually thinking or feeling or what was driving their comments versus how they may have presented themselves as anti-Semitic. You don’t just jump on the superficial interpretation of what they were saying but really try to address the origins of misunderstandings which are ultimately the origins of the problems. I wish you were more well known as your type of video is far more valuable than all of the other nonsense in the media and how they are addressing such issues…

Jewish is a religion, not a lineage. 90% of Jewish people have Eastern European DNA. Plus, you speak of Torah, but the Table of Nations makes it clear that Askenaz is the grandson of Japheth, not Shem. Jewish people have adopted the religion of Judaism but have not accepted their Japhetic, European lineage. Shem is from Africa and his descendants, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were Afro Asiatic. So every negative trope against so called Black people is the REAL Anti-Shemitism. Period.

This is wrong for a variety of reasons, the Jewish people are an ethnoreligious group just like the Yazidis, Druze, Zoroastrians, this means they are both a religion and nation. The reason you say they are a religion is because you are thinking about it from a Christian perspective which does not work, and the problem with the table of nations is Jews don't descend from Japheth, and Ashkenazi is a liturgical label identifying traditions that were developed in Rhineland which not all Jews who lived in Europe observed. There are many Jewish communities from all across the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, that all have a variety of different traditions. The claim about Jews having Eastern European DNA is not quite accurate either, some might have a small percentage of admixture but most DNA of Jews that lived in Europe is a mixture of Levantine and Southern European.

Just remember, we Jews admire the African American community a lot. As we often coincidently live side by side, we have tremendous influence on each other. We coexist beautifully as neighbors, and I wouldn't want anything to tarnish the long-lasting relationship between our people. So being Jewish I'd love to clarify a few misunderstandings a lot of white folks and blacks have about us. Please listen. Judeans aren't black. Africa in itself is so intensely diverse, and there are hundreds of tribes and ethnic groups which are completely different from each other. Judea though, is small desert in the southern Levant/west Asia and is the original homeland of all Jews. Sephardi, Ashkenazi, and Mizrahi. An atheist can be Jewish, just as a Christian, Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim can. Judaism is just the philosophy of the Jewish ethnicity/race, but one is still Jewish even if he/she rejects it. Jews are an Asiatic Mediterranean people. We have African Ethiopean brothers and sisters as well as Igbo and Lemba Jews (ancient converts who have been actively practicing Judaism for 2000 years) and we accept them as part of our nation. Black people aren't exactly semitic, but that doesn't mean anything bad. (We love our black converts!!) Arabs are semitic, and even some Southern Europeans as well (ancient Romans were believed to be spiritual offspring of Edom who was a descendant of Esau). By the way, nearly 0% of Jewish people have Eastern European DNA. What you meant to say was Ancient Italian which would have been more correct as Sephardim and Ashkenazim have a 40-45% Southern European genetic input (maternal) whereas Mizrahim don't since they stayed in the middle east. Ashkenazim and Sephardim are still closer to Mizrahim then they are to the people of the countries they lived in throughout history. I think we should resolve this little misunderstanding that today's Jews are imposters and stop friction between the Jewish and African American communities. There is a lot of common ground between us, it's a shame some of you don't want to make peace.

He's not antisemitic per se, but he's confused and consumed by his emotions and by many misunderstandings and delusional slogans, which result in the comments he made, which are of an antisemitic nature. One can be racist out of ignorance and not out of it being a part of his personality. And in my opinion racism, and epsecially antisemitism, comes from a place of ignorance and emotional confusion. We are the scapegoat of the world, which means that people that blame us for this and that do so just as an outlet of their own problems. So while they should still take responsibility for that, I think that not making a distinction between an actual antisemitic person and a confuse person that says antisemitic things only galvanizes this problem and gives it more legitimacy and power than it truly has.

One of the most beautfiul/dignified responses to a 'negative' event I have seen. Compassion with facts and defence. Sadly if someone has a certain personality taint takes big effort to change. And only if they want to . But perfect compassionate response by yourself.

I read that Ye has been diagnosed with bipolar, so although that's not an excuse, it's definitely a reason why someone suffering a manic episode might not be able to have the usual filters during a conversation. I've fallen out with someone who went too far too many times when they were suffering manic episodes, not because of the hurt caused, but because they refused to seek treatment. So I just hope the guy gets the treatment he needs and manages to sort this mess he's made in a positive way.
