Jewish Female Philosopher Becomes a Carmelite Nun - The Story of St Edith Stein

St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross was born Edith Stein in 1891 to a German Jewish family. As a teenager though, she drifted away from faith in God. She considered herself an atheist, and she sought life’s meaning through the study of philosophy. She distinguished herself in doctoral studies with some of the most famous thinkers of her time.
Later in life, she happened upon the autobiography of St. Teresa of Avila ... and she couldn’t put it down. She read it; and, soon afterward, she was baptized as a Catholic and eventually entered the Carmelite order in 1933. During that decade, Adolf Hitler was on the rise and took over power, ordering the killing of Jews in Germany. In solidarity with her people, she was taken to an Auschwitz concentration camp where she was martyred in 1942.

ST. TERESA BENEDICTA OF THE CROSS: “It has always been far from me to think that God’s mercy allows itself to be circumscribed (limited) by the visible Church’s boundaries. God is Truth. All who seek truth seek God, whether this is clear to them or not.”

She did not die a Martyr for Christ but rather as a Jewish person. She also wrote a scathing letter to the Pope accusing him of not doing enough to stop the atrocities towards the Jewish people.

Please could you tell me where i can read the letter she wrote to the pope, i agree with you , she die as a jew but the least the pope could do was to canonizase as a saint which is for a tzadik person in a catholic religion , that probably made the pope not to feel complete guilty for not doing enough, thank you

She is a Saint..a patron Saint. She died as a martyr also as she and her bishops and preists spoke out about atrocities done including to German kids who were killed bynthe nazis bcos they had mental and or physical disabilities. Please do not try and say such things about a patron Saint. The fact is the nazis killed a wonderful godly devout carmalite catholic nun along with her sister who was also a nun ..she was predestined to be a Saint and pope John Paul II made her so. The nazis killed a Saint..the nazis killed a patron Saint ..the nazis killed catholic jews including nuns and also killed catholic nuns and preists who weren't jews. How any catholic or Christian can support the nazis that killed a Saint and also another man that is a martyr was killed in nazi camps ..yes the nazis were gross..yes they were evil and incredibly un Christian ..~St Tereaa Benedicta of The Cross is now a Saint of the catholic church and a patron Saint and a Martyr ..she was also killed for questioning nazi atrocities as a Christian so was Also killed for that. .tell nick Fuentes if he isva good catholic to repent and pray to ~St Teresa Benedicta of The Cross ✝️

Saint Teresa Benedicta of the Cross is considered a martyr because she died as a result of the moral clarity issued by the bishops against Nazi oppression and because she chose to remain faithful to her religious vocation, despite the evident risk. She is a Saint and a patron Saint and a Martyr killed by the nazis. Killed as a jew? Yes. Killed for standing by her and her bishops and preists and monasteries religious faith? Also yes. The nazis killed also many catholics who were jews and also many catholics who weren't jews. One of the reasons she was taken to camp was her bishops and preists speaking up IN THE NAME OF TRUE CHRISTIANAITY AGAINST FAKE CHRISTIAN EVIL NAZIS. This guy saying such a thing about a catholic patron Saint is terrible (especially if he is a catholic) the fact is the evil nazis killed a devout carmelite catholic nun and she was pre destined to become a Saint. They killed a Saint..now that is true evil .. maybe some neo nazis who claim they are catholic should read about her..bless you
