Jetta AC problem RCV

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Follow along as I diagnose and repair AC on 2000 Vw jetta 2.0L without replacing compressor.
If you need these parts you can buy them from my website at:
kansascitytdi.com/tdi-parts-fo...
The dealer and some shops would recommend replacing the compressor for this problem.

Nice tip about the control valve! We don't do a lot of AC, but I'll be sure to keep this in mind!

I appreciate the video. I seen the high side pressure really high on a Miata before and the car was not cooling properly. After i washed out a lot of trash included dead bugs ect from the condenser the pressure dropped like a stone and the car cooled off. My TDI Jetta has always cooled properly unless the system was not getting power at the battery fuse panel until today . The car stopped cooling like it normally does. I keep a gauge in the duct just to be sure . After checking the pressure i assume the valve in the compressor is bad . I only seen this one other time . That time no pressure , this time its seems the compressor is doing just enough to cool a bit . Going to swap out the compressor with another one i have to see if this fixes the problem. . Thanks for the video

Super vid! When you chiselled those two alternator bolts, where exactly did you strike? I'm curious, as you've clearly mastered this workflow :) I once changed out a compressor on a Mk4, but moved the front end out instead.

dont have those sorry. they are pretty common sizes and I believe most local auto parts stores will have new o-rings. just take your old ones up and match them.

Would my 1998 ALH beetle have that valve in my compressor cause I have a Freon leak at the seem where you replaced the Gaskets and I would love to save having to spend 300 to 400$ for new compressor. Then my other question is do you get that valve at a jobber? I have a company called Auto Camping up here in Ottawa Canada but I never asked if they have parts for compressors

Most likely that is the same as your compressor unless your compressor was replaced with an aftermarket one. Take a look at yours and see if it says "sanden" on the green sticker partially viewable at 5:42. If so its probably the same.

I've seen alot of videos about a different control valve. Some of the compressors have it on the outside with a plug does this have the same thing or does it only have the one inside the compressor

  • @CoolAirVw

This is a mechanical valve inside the compressor. The other ones with electrical plug in (solenoid) come on clutchless compressors such as mk5 (2005.5 and up) jettas ect. We just put a RCV on a clutchless compressor on a Toyota Camry, and fixed the issue.

@@CoolAirVw I changed the valve while I had it opened i noticed there was a good amount of rust. I put it back together and filled it but the clutch did not engage. I'm assuming the compressor is probably bad since it had rust inside?
