I've been surprised by the amount of negative responses I've got in this video and I wanted to clarify some things. Firstly, the point of my reviews are to show you what the flight is really like rather than a photoshopped advertisement you'll get from the airline. I consider it my responsibility to be honest, so if the crew ignore my call bell for 15 minutes, I'm going to mention it. Secondly, I possibly came across more negatively than I intended. I actually think Jetstar are a good low cost carrier and other than the poor service on this flight and the annoying windows (more of a Boeing issue), they're pretty good. The 787 is also a pretty good aircraft. As I mentioned towards the end of the video, I was able to travel 1000kms in absolutely comfort and and safety, and for this I am certainly honoured. Having said that, I'll continue to publish how the flight actually is so if it's perceived as negative and unkind, well I guess you better only watch videos from the airline themselves.

Just watched this vid and I loved it. We've travelled Jetstar business 8 times, four times on the Airbus whatever and four times on the 787. Everytime the seats have been buggered yes even the 787 and on the Airbus one time my tray table ended up a flat piece of wood! BUT apart from the food one time back from Singapore being out of the garbage bin, I have always enjoyed the flights. The international crews are way better than the Aussies and the food and drink has been generally first rate. Didn't know the 787 had the little section behind BC and when I saw the woman with the hands over the back of the seat i undwrstood why we have travelled everytime seats 1A/1C. Now I know that means something different to you Paul but has made our last flights enjoyable. A long winded way of saying I thought your opinion on this flight was fine,

Fuck off If I want to recline my seat on a 30 min flight I will. If you don’t like the leg room get off KZread and get a job to pay for Business/First class. You also mislead people saying you were in business class. You were in an economy seat with a few extra inches. Bunch of amateur flyers on KZread spouting off diarrhea of the mouth.

heres a life hack for anyone flying (Jetstar Yaystar) domestic and is sick of the 7KG weight limit when they put a tag on your carry on bag, dont throw it away, keep it in good condition and use it on future jetstar flights they never check the weight of bags that already have an orange tag i have brought 30kg+ on board in my carry on and just got waved past the weight counter during boarding it works everytime (but only for carry on) and i fly between adelaide and sydney at least once a month using this trick to save around $60 per flight on baggage charges

this trick likely wont work if more than 10-20 people do it per flight, its pretty much guaranteed that the gate staff would get suspicious and start retagging peoples bags and even if they did fly at the calculated MTOW, the airlines use estimates for passengers and carry on bags, those estimates are 75KG per passenger and 10KG per carry on bag (which is more than the 7KG carry on limit) and even if the plane was above its rated MTOW, manufacturers add safety margins into those ratings to account for exactly this situation and as KPAracing said, they never take off anywhere near MTOW as its obscenely inefficient (and therefore expensive) i would estimate that any plane from a budget carrier like jetstar on a domestic flight would be flying at less than half of its MTOW the real risk is if everyone on the plane did this, the gate staff didnt notice and that caused the plane to run out of fuel (seeing as budget carriers tend to fly with barely enough to get there in the first place) 30 odd people carrying 4X the weight allowance would only really cause problems on ultra long international flights (which jetstar doesnt operate, and other airlines actually check and retag carry on bags on internatinal routes to combat this trick) and thats only if the plane is running on fumes when it nears the airport or if the weather is exceptionally hot on arrival (higher temps = reduced lift from the wings)

Obviously you don't know that every single baggage tags are like a legal document. Any trick you decide to pull, playing with bag tags or it's weight is an offence under Australia aviation law. Not only they will make you pay at the boarding gate times two but also could serve you with an infringement. So save yourself the embarrassment and the chat with the australian federal police, just purchase proper luggage allowance or pack your carry on accordingly. Yours sincerely, person who works for the company as a ground management crew. ✌🏻

@@lonewolf-jf4fl im not talking about the barcoded tags that are put on your checked luggage, im talking about the orange tags the gate staff put on your carry on bag so they know which bags they have weighed (all tags are identical), those tags are put on your bag just before you get on the plane 7KG is basically nothing, my laptop alone uses most of that allowance lmao and im sure as hell not buying a business class ticket just to get an extra 3KG of carry on or waiting an hour for the baggage guys to quit smoking weed and get my bag off the plane (and probably break whatever is inside it in the process) besides, even if i didnt put all the extra weight in my bag, i would do what i used to do and put all the heavy stuff in my pockets and simply wear all my clothes at once (which achieves the same effect and there's nothing anyone can do about it) if the safety of the aircraft is your reasoning, answer this whats the difference between me wearing all my clothes/putting the heaviest items in my pockets, vs simply reusing a tag to avoid getting my carry on bag weighed during boarding (and having the bonus of not getting heatstroke from wearing my entire holiday wardrobe during the flight)?

Iv'e flown Jetstar quite a bit, and apart from the odd cancellation they are pretty good on the whole, except the 7kg carry on luggage, while I don't have a problem with that, and we all should adhere to the rules. The problem is, like my wife and I experienced on a flight, a gentleman who sat next to my wife had to have been 150kg, now I got nothing against fat people, but they strictly police the 7kg carry on, and your stowed luggage as well, yet someone who is twice or three times the weight of the average person can fly and nothing gets said, bit unfair I reckon

Firstly, great video. I have done this trip from Brisbane to Melbourne on the 787 many times in the past 18 months. usually on a Saturday. As a Qantas Frequent Flyer member I have to book through Qantas, (as you get checked baggage included) ,who's site redirects you to the Jetstar site, to complete the booking.which I guess you would know. The problem is...if any Jetstar flight is cancelled or seriously delayed, as a Qantas booked passenger. Jetstar cannot advise you by text or any other method.. Normal Jetstar passengers are notified, but the Qantas computers cannot talk to Jetstar computers at short notice. They used to be able to, in fact Qantas phone staff could access the Jetstar system and fix issues right on the spot. not so these days. This flight was cancelled overnight before I travelled, (around 2am I believe), and only Jetstar booked passengers were notified, and they could change to selected Qantas flights online. But oh no, not us Qantas booked ones, even though we completed booking with Jetstar and had a Jetstar booking reference, as well as a Qantas one. I tried to phone Jetstar and after waiting 30 mins on phone, was told I would have to change flight through Qantas, even though I had a Jetstar booking reference number. Could not hang about anymore so went to airport as I had to be in Melbourne by midday, no time to hang about on phones at home. Of course by the time I get to airport, all seats on Qantas flights in morning were now full due to this Jetstar flight being cancelled, and all passengers spread out over about 6 Qantas flights. Earliest Qantas flight Jetstar could get me on...2pm. This is at 9am mind you. So to cut this rant shorter, I ended up paying over $400 for one way ticket to Melbourne, in order to get there by midday. It is a joke that in 2018, (at the time), Jetstar cannot notify Qantas passengers booked on Jetstar of cancellations and the options available. I had to fight to get my $400 dollars back, but I got it, after threats to go to media. Then had to get points not used reimbursed, as they thought I was on 2 pm Jetstar flight. What a bloody joke. I also now use Virgin. Their frequent flier program is better than Qantas anyway, and at least they notify customers of delays and cancellations. Rant complete.

Nice review however I don't agree with your opinion that passengers shouldn't recline their seats. There could be any number of reasons why passengers recline seats during short flights, there could be health issues at play and perhaps the reclined seat helps relieve pain. The passenger may have just come from a long haul flight and was trying to get some rest. And the most obvious reason, it is a function of the seat and unless told by flight crew not to, then they are perfectly within their rights to recline their seat if they so desire. Personally I don't recline my seat on short flights but I'm not bothered if somebody in front does, just part of the joys of flying in economy.

  • @WorksOnMyComputer

    @WorksOnMyComputer

    5 жыл бұрын

Ok. Lets keep some seats reserved for those who have these health issues and for everyone else lets put electronic locks on the seats so they can't be reclined on short flights. If the cabin crew can control the windows, they might as well control the seats. Fixed.

@@Self37 It bothers me because I'm 6'4 (193cm), 240lbs (109kg). Sure, the easiest solution could be to just book economy plus seats/business class I travel, but I don't have that kind of money to splurge on upgrading my seats every time I fly. The best thing I can do to make my flying experience somewhat easier in economy class is selecting aisle seats so that I can adjust my legs. Having a seat reclined all the way ends up on my knees, which makes for an uncomfortable ride. For that reason, I rarely recline my seat. The only time that I do is if it's there's a short woman, man or a child sitting behind me.

Funny you mention about the cabin temperature being warm. Doing most of my flying in the U.S.A. I have grown used to and appreciative of cooler cabin temperatures, which allows an individual to adjust their own comfort with a blanket / sweater or other. European airlines (the few which I have flown) are slightly warmer while Asian airlines tend to be even warmer. Nothing compares to the sauna of the airlines "down under". Air NZ seems to be the worst. I literally have sat there sweating for the first few hours on those trans-Pacific flights between the US and NZ. Requests to make it cooler seem to be ignored and even the complaints from NZ nationals, not just us Yanks. One time a NZ gentleman sitting next to me said he could not take it anymore and removed his shirt. Thank goodness it was business class with the little divider walls! LOL

I just flew jestar twice, Sydney to Adelaide, Adelaide to Darwin. I had a smooth experience with them. I did have a one hour flight delay from Adelaide to Darwin that could have been better communicated but overall, I felt the staff were pleasant enough to deal. The only complaint is something not related to jetstar itself when a kid about 3-5 started bawling his eyes out for 2 hours plus on the adelaide-darwin flight. That ruined the experience in all honesty but I didn't have issues with them. For the price paid, I find them to deliver what they offered. The crew on the virgin Australia flight I was on from Darwin to Sydney gave me a snooty vibe. If there is enough of a price difference and the flight isn't too long, I find jetstar is a good LCC choice.

Once or twice someone got rude or tried to adjust my vent, the extra entertainment was free. As information, this works particularly well on the A320 series for some reason.

I was travelling Melb - Cairns return on same day with Jetstar last year (I had limited time, and it was to do a property inspection.) Flight leaving early 6.25am, got a text from Jetstar overnight (after I'd gone to bed and didn't see it til my alarm went off in the morning) to let me know that there'd be an ~8 hour delay to the flight. Hence, trip ruined, and took a number of phone calls before I got a refund. I generally have found the Tigerair cabin crew more friendly and pleasant. I started flying more regularly with Tiger after I had to make a few trips to Coffs Harbour from Melbourne as they did direct flights and was really surprised and impressed given I had pretty low expectations. Fantastic cabin crew, friendly, courteous and professional. Tiger gets a bad wrap, but my own personal experience has been that I've enjoyed flying with them, and found them reliable. Also flying from Tullamarine, domestic Terminal 4 you would have to walk a very long way to get to Jetstar gates. I wonder what the future holds for Tigerair and if they'll fly again. Enjoying your videos Paul which I'm new to. My new way of taking flights from here in Victoria now that I'm not doing any travel atm.

From what I understand, they fly from MEL to SYD every Monday, but not the other way around.

Have reserved seats in this area going up to BKK and back. The little bit extra spent on a flight to be removed from the noise and shenanigans further back is worth it on longer flights. Experienced the locking out the use of the window on a flight to Narita, wasn't happy.
